Today, I came out to my parents and siblings as gay. They were very accepting and asked me why I waited until I was 25 to do so. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was their own homophobic remarks that kept me closeted since I realized it at 14, and that a previous coming-out to a parent was dismissed as 'a phase'. FML

Today, I finally mustered up the courage to tell my overly-religious parents that I'm an agnostic. They asked me why. As soon as I gave my reasons, my mom called me a "bigot" and hurled a bible at me, and it nailed me in the crotch. She then said, "That's what you get, non-believer." FML

I'm so sorry OP. I want to comment before the comments get shut off since moderators seem much more sensitive these days and I know that this is going to turn into a religious debate. I was raised Mormon and have a gay friend that was raised Mormon with me. They tried sending him to therapy, he tried praying it away etc. etc. He is now with his boyfriend. Stay true to yourself and your nature. Don't let a 2000 year old book, translated through multiple languages, with ridiculous messages get you down. You need to be happy with who you are :)

So you are born feeling love towards the same sex but you are not allowed to act on those feelings. You have to watch as everyone around you finds true love and you have to be miserable the rest of your life. All because you were born gay. Makes sense.

Yet God created all of us in His image.. You know, I'm pretty sure the attitude toward slavery was religiously motivated, too. But I digress. He made us to love ourselves. ALL of ourselves. Every part, every quirk. Not to suppress ourselves. Straight people cheat. Adultery. One of the ten worst sins according to the Ten Commandments, and are shown more mercy than gays.
