Today, I finally decided to tell my parents I was a lesbian. They spent the next few hours reading me the bible. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.

Today, I came out to my parents as lesbian. Surprisingly, they were OK with it… just as long as I still marry a dude, give them grandbabies, and keep the whole lesbian thing a deep, dark, shameful secret that we never talk about again. FML
Denial
Today, at 18, I finally told my mom I was gay. She spent the rest of the day bringing up my "future wife" at every possible chance she had. FML
Today, I finally got the courage to tell my parents that I'm gay. My mom said "Yeah, we know." When I asked how they knew, my dad, without looking up from the tv, said, "We've been monitoring your Internet history." FML
The real me
Today, I finally told my parents I'm trans. My dad started crying and told me he loved me no matter what. My mother threw a chair at me, and told my dad it was his "wife-like" behaviour that made me this way. She then prayed out loud for an hour for God to send her a real husband and son. FML
Today, after weeks of thinking and playing every outcome possible in my head, I told my parents I'm gay. My dad nodded and didn't even look up from his book; my mom told me to go to the doctor if it starts to itch. FML
Casual homophobia
Today, I came out to my parents and siblings as gay. They were very accepting and asked me why I waited until I was 25 to do so. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was their own homophobic remarks that kept me closeted since I realized it at 14, and that a previous coming-out to a parent was dismissed as 'a phase'. FML
Today, I told my friends I had been hiding something that I wanted to come clean on. My one friend responds by saying, "FINALLY you come out of the closet. It's about time." I'm not gay. I was just going to tell them my parents were getting a divorce. FML
Today, I came out to my therapist as gay. Claiming that my parents "can't be that homophobic", my therapist outed me to them. They kicked me out of the house. FML
Vicious
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years after finally realizing I'm a lesbian. He then outed me to my very religious and conservative family. FML
God is Dead 6: Electric Boogaloo
Today, I finally mustered up the courage to tell my overly-religious parents that I'm an agnostic. They asked me why. As soon as I gave my reasons, my mom called me a "bigot" and hurled a bible at me, and it nailed me in the crotch. She then said, "That's what you get, non-believer." FML

I'm so sorry OP. I want to comment before the comments get shut off since moderators seem much more sensitive these days and I know that this is going to turn into a religious debate. I was raised Mormon and have a gay friend that was raised Mormon with me. They tried sending him to therapy, he tried praying it away etc. etc. He is now with his boyfriend. Stay true to yourself and your nature. Don't let a 2000 year old book, translated through multiple languages, with ridiculous messages get you down. You need to be happy with who you are :)

The world has evolved a bit during the last 2000 years, it's not okay to kill your wife because she left you it's not okay to have sex with children, it's not okay to kill in the name of any God but it is okay to be in love with someone of your own gender. Isn't it time to update those old books like we do with the law?

if your parents' opinions matter that much to you, you could always renounce that lifestyle. but only if you do care. my personal recommendation would be to do what you think is best for yourself. sometimes, parents don't really know what they're talking about when it comes to their own kids. take me for example. I've been driving for 3 years with a learners license and a parent to babysit me, and I'm still not allowed to get a license to drive unmonitored because "I'm not ready". parents can have clouded judgments sometimes.

I feel bad for you two seriously its only stupid ***** who actually believe the bible word for word. If I were you, I'd tell them thy Jesus wouldn't care because realistically, he wouldn't! As long as you are spreading love your doing nothing wrong. WTF are they expecting to happen? "Oh wow the words of the bible saved me! I'm cured! Now I'm gonna settle down with a man and start a family!" Chin up darling, you only told them the truth and nothings wrong with that!
