Today, I dropped my daughter off at a concert where she was performing and went to look for parking. I got caught in freak traffic and it took me an hour to get back there. I missed her act. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my friend and I went to see our favorite band in concert. We walked at least a mile from our parking space and stood in line for two hours. My friend was supposed to have the tickets in her purse. She actually had, but she left her purse in the car. FML
Today, I was going to meet my friend at a concert. I got there before her, so I went in to check out the local bands that were playing before the headliner. When she got there, I went just outside the building to give her a ticket. The security guards wouldn't let me back in. She went in anyway. FML
What were you thinking?
Today, I dined and dashed. Upon reaching my car, I realized I had left my seven year-old daughter in the restaurant. FML
Thanks for the memories
Today, it was the concert of my life. I had bought tickets the minute they went on sale, and I'd anxiously waited until the concert date. Thirty minutes before the show, my friend got so drunk that we weren't allowed in, and I was stuck babysitting her all night in the hotel, completely missing the show. FML
Kids these days…
Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML
Pipe down, Whitney
Today, I got a parking ticket because I was too busy singing along to my music to notice that I'd overstayed the time limit on the quick stop parking space. FML
Today, I left 20 minutes early for school to get a good seat in class. I sat in traffic for 20 minutes before I even got on the thruway and for another 25 minutes once I got off the exit for school. Then I couldn't find parking at my university. I missed class. FML
Today, I got on a two hour train ride to go to a concert. I had been so caught up in handling the train tickets that halfway to the concert, I realized I had left the concert tickets on my dresser. FML
Today, I went to a concert with a friend of mine. When his dad came to pick him up, I walked towards the car, expecting a ride. His dad told me he didn't have time to drive me home. I'm his neighbour. FML
Today, I drove 150 miles to see one of my favorite singers in concert. Before I got out of the car I checked to make sure I had the tickets. Did I have the tickets? Yes. Were they for today's concert? Nope. FML

I'm sure your daughter will understand if you explain, unless if she's a teen, then she'll make you cry.

Aww. Hopefully your daughter doesn't take that harshly. How could've known that there was freakish traffic? Just bad timing.

Having lived in London - driving is next to useless most of the time anyways. Although in perfect conditions (no traffic/accidents) driving a car can be about 20% quicker - over time, you'll learn to prefer the consistency of public transport instead of driving which has too many variables that can affect the time it takes to get there.

OP was driving through London, which is always a bad idea. Getting through London is a pain in the ass on foot, and with public transport. Going via car is like being in a permanent gridlocked rush hour.

Completely unrelated but... What does a clock do when it is still hungry after dinner? It goes back four seconds.

Lesson, always arrive early
Tripartita 45
She did. She arrived so early, she was able to drop her daughter off before the event started. Then she got caught in… parking traffic. Lesson learned: act perfectly all the time and anticipate random occurrences, right?

My question is, why come and then go. He/she was already there. Also, always expect the unexpected
Tripartita 45
Read the FML. She didn't leave; she was looking for parking.

London is awful for traffic
Rodgerdodger17 15
How do you get into freak traffic looking for parking?
Tripartita 45
By getting stuck in a massive parking lot with cars behind and in front of you all trying to find parking while others are trying to leave through the only available exits, getting stuck waiting to merge with more traffic on the main road. I find it odd you can't imagine a congested parking lot that takes a while to navigate.

Dont worry. Rodgerdodger is probably trying to troll or start an argument

If she's a child, she'll cry. If it's a teen, then OP will be the one crying.

The way social media is an obsession nowadays, I'm sure you can find a recording. I hope.

Hopefully your daughter understands and hopefully you got it on video.

How could OP have gotten video while being in traffic and missing the concert?
tessas 7
Perhaps because SOMEONE ELSE videoed the concert and then kindly provided OP with a copy.

well that sucks, but whatever you do, don't lie and tell her you saw it.

She missed only one act and it happened to be her daughters, I modded it and that's what it said before, either way this sucks...

what

You couldn't have possible known, I'm sure she'll understand and appreciate the effort. Was someone able to tape any of it for you so you didn't completely miss it?

Ouch. That's too bad. I hope she understands.
