Today, I changed all my plans, after months of him begging me to, so I could go to the same university as my long-term boyfriend. After I sent in my deposit, he told me we couldn't live together in college because I was "invading his space." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend informed me that he'd resolved all the issues with his ex and is getting back together with her. Normally I could tolerate this if it weren't for the fact that I just moved to a different country to live with him, and turned down a university and a scholarship. FML
Today, I moved three hours away from my boyfriend for college. Even though he got accepted to the same school and had a job lined up in town, he decided not to come with me because the Internet at our apartment wasn't going to be fast enough for his gaming. FML
Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML
Afterthought
Today, my boyfriend admitted that he never thought we had a future together. He just wanted to move in together so he could get "cheaper rent for a while." FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that we wouldn't move in together as we had planned to do for a long time. His mother forbade it. He is 27. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, claiming moving in was a bad idea and he is the type who needs his privacy. It was his idea to move in, he had to convince me. Now we are stuck, under lease together for the next 6 months. FML
Today, after months of planning, my boyfriend told me he's changed his mind and doesn’t want to move with me to where I got a job. Why? He doesn’t want to live that far away from his mother. FML
Today, my boyfriend moved. He moved from my room... to my housemate's room. FML
Close, but no cigar
Today, my long-distance boyfriend of 3 years uttered the heartbreaking words, “I met this girl here in my hometown and she’s really great and we fell in love with each other, I can’t do this anymore. We’re over.” I was planning on moving to his town after graduation this year. FML
Run away, fast
Today, I travelled across an ocean to visit the guy I'm dating. He lied to me about his apartment; he lives in a dorm with a twin-sized bed and a bathroom he shares with eight guys. Just now, after taking three trains from the airport to his "apt", he asked me to edit his essay while he goes to class. FML

Never change your plans for the sake of a single boy in your youth. In this era, it's just not worth it, darling...and now you see why....

If he was so desperate to be together, why didn't he go to the college of your choice? Dump him, because let's face it, he's probably a clingy loser anyway. Pull your pants up and do what you want to do; independence is always attractive. More often than not, your education will last longer than your relationships, especially if it's a high school relationship, so always put school first.

I have to agree with redbluegreen. Hopefully, OP, you'll still be doing a course which is what you really want to do. But you should have stuck with your original choice. If you really wanted to be together throughout uni, you could've made it work in different places if you both really wanted it to. It's nice you were willing to make that sacrifice, but at that point in your life, the education was probably more important.

What redbluegreen said is spot on. I only know maybe one or two people that stayed with their high school partners. Odds on, you'll go through at least another half-dozen or so relationships before you settle down. The quality of the education you get now will be with you for the rest of your life, yet the guy that influenced the choice didn't even make it to day one. There is a valuable lesson here.

assumptions on the internet: 80% inaccurate and proves how the poster likes to generalize.
Cinn_fml 23
And how many statistics are made up? :P And not all assumptions are generalisations, you can assume something about one person and one person alone, that doesn't mean you generalise that all people like that person must be the same. Either that, or I have misunderstood your point.

80% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

A high degree of implied accuracy makes people 6.435 times as likely to believe a statistic.

The phrase "don't put all your eggs in one basket" comes to mind, although I have no idea what it means. Just like the phrase, "When in Rome..."
