Today, I caught my teenage daughter doing her laundry for the first time ever. She had piles of black and white, but then she threw them together in the washing machine. I told her blacks and whites were supposed to be separate, but she just said, "End the segregation, mom." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Delicate cycle
Today, I did laundry for the first time in weeks. Feeling productive, I dumped everything in, including what I thought was my pile of towels. Turns out, I washed (and shrunk) my roommate’s $200 wool sweater. She found out when I proudly showed her how “clean” everything looked. FML
Logic 101
Today, my 17-year-old daughter didn't do the laundry. Her excuse? "If it was meant to be done, it would have done itself." This is the same daughter who yesterday tried convincing me she was responsible enough to get a dog. FML
Thanks for the help
Today, I went to gather the laundry out of the dryer. My daughter had seen my wife put bleach in the washer, so she decided that honey in the dryer would make the clothes smell sweet. She wasn't wrong, but now I have a giant ball of sticky socks and underwear. FML
Today, I was folding the laundry. At one point, I had to take a moment to figure out whether a pair of underwear was mine or my mothers. I'm 18. She is 56. Enough said. FML
Today, I decided it was time to have "the talk" with my daughter, after I found a thong in the washing machine. She denied it was hers and pointed out how it was too big to fit her. I ended up having a very different talk with my son. FML
Today, when I visited my daughter's apartment that she moved into about 3 months ago, I found out that she buys new underwear every time she runs out instead of washing her dirty ones. Her dirty ones have their own special hamper. FML
Today, I went to the laundromat for the first time. I fit all of my clothes into two washers. Not knowing where to put the soap in, I asked a man doing his laundry, "Excuse me, where do I put the soap in?". He replied, "Ma'am, those are the dryers." FML
Skids
Today, I walked into my house with a couple of friends and I saw my girlfriend doing laundry. I jokingly asked her if she had time to do a load of mine as well. She scoffed and said, "Yeah babe, I'll gladly do your laundry… The same day you learn to wipe properly." FML
Sharing is caring
Today, my daughter used my towel. She thought that because it was clean, it would be okay. She’s 27. FML
MOOOOOM!!
Today, my daughter was putting clothes in the drier when she yelled, "Mom!! The drier won't start!" I had to explain to her that the door needed to be shut. Her response, "Oh. I didn't know that mattered." She's 15. FML

He died while fighting it... So he did

He died whilst fighting for laundry? Wow. My history teacher lied.

@5: #1 meant that he didn't die just to have blacks and whites still be separated in the end.

The irony is that she separated her blacks and whites first anyway before tossing them in together. She already did the hard part

I've always mixed my laundry. I have yet to have messed up clothing. Colors haven't faded either. Then again, I don't own many "whites."
Rainbow2Cloud 12
I always do mine all together in cold water and they come out fine. Oh and cold water is better because it doesn't cause color bleeding like hot does anyway.
sweetnsourrr 11
I only own a few whites and I have mixed with my colored clothes out of laziness. Dont do it, you might not notice it now because it slowly stains your clothes every time you wash them together.
Rainbow2Cloud 12
Using cold water, and salt or white vinegar will actually make your colors last longer.

Now all of her clothes will be "50 shades of grey."

I wash new colored clothes separately once or twice, then mix them and just wash everything with warm water. Modern dyes don't usually bleed after the first wash, if that.
Rainbow2Cloud 12
You wash your clothes sometimes more than once in one laundry day? Someone is asking for their clothes to fade out.

if I do only whites then I use bleach, if I mix my whites and darks (I dont have enough whites for their own load) then I dont bleach them and ive never had an issue? detergent and fabric softener haven't ever made my colors bleed together even with a color shirt and white shirt together in one load

In the decade plus that I've been doing my laundry, I've never separated a damn thing. My laundry has also never been ruined by it. White socks ruined by wearing them with new, dark, canvas shoes? Definitely. White socks ruined by being washed with my black shirts and dark blue jeans, never.

When she does a load of whites, throw something red in so she finds out why she needs to separate whites from colors.

lol that's bad...

That only teaches why you don't put red clothes in with whites. Quite frankly if you are not the type to give a darn if your white clothes are pure white or a bit dingy then it's fine to mix dark clothes with them. They pretty much stay pale, they just don't stay pure white. However, if you put red in with your whites then you don't get a shirt that is still pretty much white. You get a shirt that is pastel pink. There is a big difference. Also it's important to note that, for whatever reason, red dyes bleed way more than any other dye. A black shirt may bleed once maybe twice but by the third time excess dye is usually pretty much gone. A red shirt will bleed until the day it itself finally comes out pastel pink.

She will regret that dicision when it's done..

probably not. unless there are reds in it. I've been doing my own laundry for almost 10 years. NEVER had an issue mixing blacks and whites lmao. I don't know ANYONE who has.

What about people with a lethal, highly contagious airborne virus?
RpiesSPIES 27
#26 Then just take Airborne off the shelves. If it's containing some dangerous virus, what's the point?
