Today, I caught my "best friend" on my laptop, copying my girlfriend's nudes onto his flash drive. FML

Today, I found my best friend's girlfriend on a webcam site. I then told him, and his only response was, "Yeah, I know, that's where we met." FML
Today, I found out that my 'girlfriend', who I've been emailing with, was really my friend playing a prank on me. He asked me for naked pictures of myself and I sent them to him. FML
You might as well know…
Today, I was sending screenshots to my best friend about a guy who'd screwed me over. I sent the screenshots to him instead. FML
Today, while I was looking for a file on my boyfriend's hard drive, I came across photos of a half-naked woman wearing my clothes, but whose head wasn't really visible. When I demanded an explanation, I realised that it wasn't another girl - it was him. FML
Today, my "friend" came over. I caught him trying to steal my iPod on the way out. Proud of myself for catching him, I asked him to leave, only to realize that I had forgotten to actually take the iPod back from him before he left. FML
The girl?
Today, my mate was bragging about the nudes he was getting from this random girl, he proceeded to show me... It was my cousin. FML

Today, I found out that my girlfriend takes videos of me sleeping and watches them with her friends. FML
Today, my little sister got mad at me because I wouldn't let her read my IM conversation. I took a nap and when I woke up, my laptop was gone. She took it on a trip to her grandparents' house, six hours away. Nude pictures of me and my paper due tomorrow are on the laptop. FML
Today, I found out that while I was at college, my brother downloaded three terabytes of porn on my laptop and blamed it on me. My parents believed him. FML

The "friend" shouldn't have been snooping in the first place. I say wipe his flash drive, kick him to the curb, and put a password on anything you can to prevent anything like that from happening again. Maybe warn all of his friends of his antics.

People really need to password protect directories with any sensitive information for this very reason. YDI.
Mathalamus 25
or delete any sensitive information if you think snooping is possible.

I wouldn't really say op deserves this and Ops girlfriend really doesn't..

Who would expect their supposed Best Friend to do something like this?
iiTzNeeNerz 26
So, OP deserves this because he didn't password protect his laptop? I'm sorry. The fact that something isn't password protected doesn't entitle anyone to go through it and copy personal files. He should have protected it; but his "best friend" shouldn't have gone through it to begin with.
soullyfe 33
OP doesn't deserve it, but knowing you have that sort of thing on your computer and you allow other people to freely use it, he should have been more responsible about making sure it was hidden very well or password protecting content like that. Plus, all it could take was one accidental mis-click for someone else to find it. However, the friend was an ass for trying to take the pictures for his own personal pleasure.

I'm confused as to where OP stated that he let his best friend use his computer with permission. His friend might have just went on it without OP's knowledge- and even with a password, he could have known the password or figured it out. Saying he deserves it is foolish. His best friend needs his ass whooped, end of story.

#23 Unfortunately I would. I KNOW my best friend would snoop around. It's the way she is. She snoops and wants to know everyone's business and also shares information with everyone regardless how personal it is. I simply learned not to trust her and not to tell her anything that I wouldn't put in a newspaper. Actually most people that I know can't keep a secret. Luckily fewer would snoop around trough my PC/phone.

Or password and lock his computer. I have a password on mine, and lock it whenever I am away from the keyboard. And when it is locked the only thing that displays is a password screen, and basically ignores all entries that are not related to the password. So the "friend" should have been respecting the posters privacy. But it is a YDI because by not locking your computer this ( or something like this ) would have happened sooner or later.

True, but that can't possibly excuse OP's friends completely dickish behavior. That's like saying that because you don't have one of those automated home security systems, I can walk inside and steal all your valuables. Nothing is an excuse for this kind of behavior.

you need to hide those better

Shitty of the "best friend" to do but I agree with everyone else you shouldn't of left that publicly accessible...you better hope the gf never catches wind of this
MikaykayUnicorn 36
I highly doubt it was "publicly accessible." The "best friend" probably got into it somehow.
darshini_ii 24
Or OP probably trusted him with the password.
magicviper1 15
wipe it more than once, there are recovery programs that can bring back the deleted info
nanner6206 24
and if OP didn't want them deleted? (we usually don't throw out possessions we Cherish or want or enjoy Simply because they MIGHT get stolen) but also didn't want to share.
lazylahma 10
I'm not saying delete them or throw them out but a simple password protected file could of solved all of this
magicviper1 15
i was saying wipe the memory card/flash drive

Your friend sounds like any normal friend that sees his chance and takes it. Shoulda had a password.
lexiieeex3 32
Because normal people steal their friends' intellectual property and jack off to their girlfriends. Right.
pjsr 33
Unless OP took the pictures and is a photographer who considers his photos some type of unique creation, it's not 'intellectual property'. They're just OP's jack off pictures. Chances are that OP has shown them to his friend already.
InfiniteSunshine 32
Intellectual property is defined as "a work or invention that is the result of creativity, such as a manuscript or a design, to which one has rights and for which one may apply for a patent, copyright, trademark." Personal photos, even "jack off pictures" fall under this definition. So yes, it is stealing intellectual property, especially from the girlfriend, because they're photos of her. Everyone's personal photos are their own personal property that others need permission to use. Also, considering how pissed the OP is at his "best friend," I'm willing to bet he hasn't shown those pictures to him before, or anyone else, you know, like a good boyfriend.

Well that's ****** up. If someone ever did that to my significant other I would kick their ass.

A girlfriend's nudes are something that shouldn't be so easily accessible You need to cutt off your friendship with that guy and put the Nudes in a safer place/file OP
