Today, I asked my manager where the clearly-foreign customers were from. She said she didn't know, but she thought they were from ISIS. She wasn't trying to be funny, she thought ISIS was a country. FML

Today, I was instructed by my boss to welcome the 2 new foreign business partners since I am the only one who could speak their language. When they arrived I greeted them in their language. One of them scratched his head and asked his companion in plain and clear English, "What did he say?" FML

Today, a customer asked me if we serve spaghetti. She then asked for a manager because I was giving her a weird look, laughing softly when telling her yes, and apparently making her feel stupid. My manager wrote me up. I work at the Old Spaghetti Factory. FML
Today, a customer at work pronounced the word "Asian" as "Ah-See-Awn" when ordering a salad. I wasn't allowed to say anything. FML
Today, I saw my coworker write about how awful Muslims were and how the religion is stupid, the hijab is oppressive, and how they're a poison on society. When I questioned them about it, they pretty much said that I didn't know anything and should stop talking. I'm Muslim and a hijabi. FML
Today, my boss bitched me out for a customer complaint. The complaint was me not laughing at the customer's joke of me asking for his ID and him saying no. I'm sorry, I've been getting this "joke" a least twice a day since I started working here two years ago. FML
Today, I realized that customers at my work ask me, "Are you new or just stupid?" just as often as they did when I first started. FML

You may want to politely correct her on that, before she makes the mistake of saying it to someone else. It could cause some issues if she happened to mention that to one such customer.

I imagine the hardest part was deciding wether to point her towards a bit of information or make up some relatives from ISIS and a bunch of bizarre traits and customs they have.

Unless you're in a business where it's important to keep up on world affairs, I don't see this as being a big issue. Some people prefer not to expose themselves to all the negative media out there, which may be naive but probably wouldn't affect their qualifications as a business manager. Still others are poor at geography, as it would appear in this case, but this is not really indicative of being an idiot in my humble opinion.
