Bunch of NPCs
Today, my manager sat me down and insinuated that it's my fault that our new hires are useless. Not one person ever told me that I was responsible for training them. I'm not in charge, and they've been here for weeks. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my manager and I were talking about one of our new hires, who I have been getting on well with already. My manager is happy with the newbie's work, but not with their interactions with our coworkers. Yeah… that's on me. My bad. FML
Today, my boss told me that people from work have been complaining about me. Apparently, I'm not doing part of their jobs for them, and the other manager sometimes does. FML
Today, I was fired for not completing the required computer training, which no one told me about. I was told that it's my responsibility to check it every week. It would have been nice if a single one of my supervisors had given me any indication whatsoever that this was the case. FML
Today, my new manager, who I have spent the last three months training, had a managers' meeting and now won't be returning. FML
Today, my new supervisor arrived after my old one had transferred away and we had a quick evaluation meeting. As it turns out, I'm not actually a good employee like I thought. I just had a shitty boss who didn't care enough to let me know I wasn't meeting company standards. FML
Today, my co-workers decided in our meeting with my boss that everything is my fault. When asked for examples, they couldn't come up with any. Now they are mad at me, because I'm apparently good at my job. FML
Today, I lost my job to the individual I just finished training. Within 2 hours after being escorted out, my old boss called and yelled at me for doing a lousy job. He was angry that the training was deficient and because the new person is as bad as I was. FML
Today, at my new job, I walked into the office to hear my supervisor and HR manager talking about how, "the new guy isn't very smart, but we can get him to do the shit work for a couple weeks." Gee, thanks. FML
Today, after working at the same place for 3 years, I found out that they are not only cutting my hours but now I have to take orders from some girl I trained because she was promoted over me. FML
Today, I was let go at work. About 2 years ago, we had hired an eager-to-learn "assistant" for me. When they canned me, they let me know that I should've trained him faster so I could've been fired sooner. FML

it sounds like your manager is rather incompetent.

Obviously your boss is an idiot with poor communication skills. I’d quit and find a better job.

No, find a new job then quit.

Either OP didn’t understand his full job responsibilities or the manager is incompetent and looking for someone to blame for the consequences of their inactions. My suspicion is the second - Incompetent manager. The most effective solution, assuming OP is not the incompetent one, is to look for a new job and then quit and let the idiot manager sort out what they should have done at the beginning and what they can do now. We all want to work where our boss is reasonable and competent. But unfortunately that’s not always the case. There is a fine line between asking too many “obvious” questions and winding up micromanaged and asking enough questions about the job, how things are done, and if there is a new plan. It probably would have been wise when these new people were hired to ask if boss expected you to train them or not, unless someone else was identified to train them at the time. Had that question been asked OP would have least understood what was expected. Unfortunately sometimes you have to carefully manage your boss - not manipulate them, manage how you communicate with them. Usually it’s wise to speak with your boss when things change in some major way so you are on the same page with your boss. A competent boss will do that, but unfortunately sometimes our boss isn’t as competent as they should be. You cannot change them, but you can reduce problems like this. Unfortunately, even if boss is clearly incompetent, don’t go behind their back up the management chain. Your boss interacts with their manager frequently and boss’s boss will tend to believe the person he usually deals with instead of you. And your boss can make your life miserable if they so choose. If directly asked a question by upper management be honest but careful, but only in the most egregious case should ever you go above your boss.

No one has ever told me I need to wear pants to work, either. Some things are so obvious, it would be insulting to have to mention them explicitly.
