Today, after three days of hospital camping with my very sick husband, he was finally out of danger when I left last night to get my first good night's sleep in almost 96 hours. He woke me at 5 a.m. with a phone call asking me to bring him comic books because he's bored. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
It was the painkillers, I swear
Today, my husband came home from the hospital after having painful surgery, so I decided to make him a nice big breakfast. As I was taking it up to him, I heard a message on the phone. It was from one of his nurses. She was accepting his offer of a date. FML
Today, I finally finished a gruelling shift at the hospital. I hadn't slept in over 30 hours, so I was happy to get out. I was quickly rushed back in after I collapsed in the parking lot and cracked my head open. FML
Today, I am exhausted and can barely move after being up all night taking care of my drunk and vomiting husband. He, on the other hand, feels much better and is bounding with energy. FML
Thank you for your service
Today, I've been horribly sick with a stomach virus. Six hours ago, I asked my husband to go to the store and get me a few things that would help ease my misery. He's still in bed and I'm cleaning the house in between bouts of vomiting. FML
I'm sticking with you
Today, due to an emergency, I have worked for 21 hours non stop. When I got home at 6 a.m. I fell into bed and stuck to the sheets. Only then, just as he was going to work, did my husband yell up the stairs that the sheets needed washing because he spilled his cough medicine all over the bed when he woke up. FML
Today, on The Love Boat…
Today, my husband is miserable. He couldn't sleep. He tried to make me feel bad for sleeping through the night. I was medicated from a brain scan. His is work is horrible, and no one understands, etc. He's mad that I took a walk. Now, as I am frustrated and crying, he is laughing on the phone with his coworkers. FML
Let me be
Today, after spending two days pampering my sick fiancee and her sick son, they were finally feeling better. I woke up feeling rotten and said I needed to rest. She said, "Okay, but I want to deep clean today. Let's go! Out of bed! Up up!" FML
Today, my husband, who has been in a coma for 5 weeks, woke up. When I went to visit him, the first thing he did was try and continue the argument we had been having before he crashed the car. FML
Today, I went to the hospital due to extreme sickness. My boyfriend saw this as an opportune time to take another girl out since I was "otherwise preoccupied." FML
Today, after having surgery, I called my family to tell them I was out, safe, and on my way home. The first thing they asked was if they could "borrow" some of my pain meds. FML

Um correct me if Im wrong but isn't 3 days 72 hours? OP you have done well looking after him when he is in hospital and you need your sleep. Simple fact is if you are too tired then you are in danger of crashing. I hope you told him you would be there in a couple of hours so you could get more sleep. I don't think he was being selfish though, his body clock is probably all over the place and he either didn't realise the time or just didn't think. Also to the commenter somewhere above it is very possibleto die from lack of sleep, things just start to shut down. You are more likely to die from a fatigue induced accident than from the actual fatigue tho.

OP here - ok, so they were "graphic novels" and not comic books... but "graphic novels" are just comic books in a little better binding and more intense blood & gore. When he called at 5 a.m., he honestly thought that I would have turned the phone off. He's in the hospital and still not 100% out of the woods but getting there, and other procedures that need to be done are scheduled for "whenever we can get you in", but he couldn't fathom why I would have the phone right beside my head, and why I would answer in a panic because of a call from the hospital at that hour.

Ayame I hope you don't end up marrying an abusive guy or a cheater because with that attitude you'd just turn the other cheek and let him do it. OP I'm glad he's doing better and that he didn't mean to wake you up that early. Ignore all these assholes who think you can survive on love and the bond of your marriage alone, and that will magically make ignoring your own health not an issue. You did the right thing seeing as he was doing ok. You'd be no help to him if you didn't get a little rest yourself.

I wonder, if this situation were reversed, would people still be making all these comments about her being so weakened from being "sleep deprived" that she would get sick, die in a car accident, or be unable to function? If she were a man would people be saying, "Suck it up and grow a pair, don't complain about being weak just go help your woman"? Seriously, not getting an optimal amount of sleep for A FEW days is not as big of a deal (for a man OR a woman) as some people are making it out to be. On topic: If someone I loved were in the hospital for something that had put their life at risk, I would simply be greatful that they were recovering. I think she deserves it because the fact that she posted this and made her still-recovering husband look like a jerk shows that on at least some level she cares more about her comfort than his. Posting an FML about my loved one's slight inconsideration after being potentially fatally ill would be the farthest thing from my mind.

if your husband was as sick as you say he was, shouldn't you be grateful for this annoyance he caused you? at least he's still alive to piss you off.

96 hours is four days?

Don't really see why this is a "fml" and such a big deal... I was leaning more towards you should be saying "tgfmhl"... "thank god for my husbands life". My husband was in the hospital for 4 days and you couldn't make me leave.. not even for dinner. I had other family members bringing me food and as for sleep I sucked it up, laid on the uncomfortable couch, said my prayers, and slept when he slept. If your husbands life was "in danger" in my opinion you should of just been grateful that he was well enough to even want to read the comic books. Dont know about your vows.. but mine said "for better or worse.. sickness and in health." I couldn't have left... but to each their own.. I just don't think him wanting something to read was that big of a deal... yes, the hospital couches are more than uncomfortable.. but think about how he was feeling... Just my opinion..
