Today, after thirteen years of engagement, my fiancé and I split. As is, with the day, we changed our Facebook relationships to make it official. I logged back on tonight to find his mother, the woman I've spent the last year looking after and having a good time, "liking" the break up. FML

Today, my boyfriend of 2 years broke up with me. Ten minutes after, he called me asking how to change his relationship status on Facebook. FML
Today, my fiancée broke up with me over text message while I was away for work. She later posted photos of her and her new boyfriend on Facebook, while still wearing my engagement ring. FML
Today, my husband who asked for a divorce four days ago announced his engagement on Facebook. His new woman's profile picture is my engagement ring. FML
Today, I logged on Facebook and saw my friend who'd been engaged, then broke the engagement, then got back together announce their new wedding date: three days before my wedding. She also sent me a message asking if I'd move my date. We've been planning our wedding for two years. She got engaged six months ago. FML

Today, I logged on to Facebook to find that my boyfriend's relationship status had changed to being in a relationship with his ex. I asked him about it, and all he said was, "I guess I forgot to break up with you." FML
Sorry
Today, I woke up without my fiancé in bed next to me, but I assumed he'd gone to work early. I went on Facebook to find that he had posted a break-up post to himself from my account and set my status to single. I then found a note with "Sorry" written on it stuck to the kitchen counter. FML
Facebook official means it's serious
Today, I had the displeasure of watching my boyfriend’s Facebook go from “In a relationship” with me to “Single”, then switched to a big “In a relationship with” the girl he told me was “just a friend” post, after ending our 5-year relationship over text message. FML
Today, my ex-boyfriend announced he was engaged. We broke up last night. FML
Facebook official
Today, after dating my girlfriend for about a month, she changed her Facebook status to taken. When I saw the update, I immediately clicked "Like." Then I looked up and saw I wasn't the person she had put herself in a relationship with. FML
Today, I checked my facebook, and my wife of 5 years was listed as single. I then write on her wall that it is ok to announce to be married. She writes back saying that we have to talk and to come to the kitchen. My wife divorced me over facebook. FML

you were ENGAGED for 13 whole years without ever tying the knot?
CDS09 0
thats what I was thinking....what would be the purpose of that? did you get engaged at 16 and you are waiting for him to get established and he still wasnt at 29? I feel sorry for you, this sucks, but didnt you at some point realize he was not serious about it when you were engaged for 13 years?

You know some people get engaged but decide to not get married because it's too expensive or they dont want to go through the hassle of a wedding or other things but decide to be more than bf and gf but dont want to go through marrige. Jeeze, everyone shouldnt be all why arn't you married!!!
DameGreyWulf 1
That's understandable and all... but /13 years/ is more than a little much.

In all honesty she is supposed to take her son's side... so it may be a comfort thing for all you know.

How is it taking the son's side?

Even if she was taking the son's side, it's still really rude to do something like that.. taking someone's side doesn't mean you have to like that she's upset.

I agree with #2, it's not like she should like the OP's status. She's not gonna say "My son was a dead weight anyway, you don't need him."

When did a like turn into life or death? Seriously, since there's not many buttons, a like could mean anything from "I'm sorry" to "Dude that's awesome"

i wouldnt look too far into this. ive seen people "like" people commenting on having colds, being sad a celebrity died, having to work double shifts, etc. people abuse the "like" button like its the only button out there.

So you're saying there should be an acknowledge button??? Aren't there enough buttons on Facebook?
Pointy130 0
I agree, in the same way that people abuse the "You deserved it" button on FML. //btw, thinking that posting something to facebook makes it official is a pretty stupid philosophy in general.

Moms are never loyal to gfs. Only their kids. Sorry OP

Ouch. Stick a pillow over the old bitches face. Also; you should have known once that lucky number 13 rolled around you'd break up. It's just inevitable.

I agree -- Shit or get off the pot. Unless you're waiting to graduate from school (And even then -- Why the heck get engaged before graduation?), you stay engaged long enough to plan the wedding and get your house in order. His mother is probably just happy that now her son has a reasonable chance of getting married before she dies. After a few years, it was probably clear to her that even if the OP was a great gal, there was no marriage in the future.

Ya my engagement was beginning to drag on at 2 years so I set a date and we were only engaged for 3 years holy crap 13?
spikedrummer49 6
Yeah wtf is right! no wonder you failed...
EMTchic 14
Sometimes you have to have a longer engagement (although, I agree, 13 years is far too long) For instance, me and my fiancé have set the date for our wedding and it is in two years, because we are waiting for me to graduate . We are, however, using this extra time to our advantage . Finding a place to live and such .

Why didnt you get married after that long?
mycatjustfarted 0
meh just ignore her and give no more **** about her

well, depending on the circumstances of your breakup, she could like the breakup. who really cares what his mom thinks about anyway? you and your bf broke up, it's not like you are going to be spending anymore quality time with her.

Why all these retarded Facebook FMLs? YDI for caring so much about your facebook status and comments. ******* stupid.
