The ruling class wins again
Today, someone had been stealing my brownie at work every day, so I sprinkled cocolax on one and waited to find out who the culprit was. Turns out it was my manager. Needless to say, I'm fired. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my friend came over with brownies as a treat before work. She works in a bakery so I thought it was lovely. After starting work, I became stoned. She thought it was a great prank. I was fired. FML
Today, my boss found out that my girlfriend dumped me. He asked if that meant she would no longer bring her delicious homemade cookies to the office. When I said yes, he fired me on the spot. FML
Today, after weeks of stealing lunch from one of my employees, he made a sandwich with canned cat food, soap, and something unimaginably spicy that caused me to spew all over my office and laptop. I fired him. Now everyone is treating me like a monster. FML
Today, I have been victimised by a lunch thief at work for months, despite numerous complaints to management, so I exposed the thief by lacing my curry with that old classic, laxatives. Even though my coworker was caught brown-handed shitting himself, I was the one suspended for making him sick. FML
Today, I finally caught the person who has now and again been stealing my lunch at work for weeks. It was my boss. I awkwardly watched him eat my sandwich while he talked about how he's been "saving money by bringing food from home." FML
Today, I made brownies for my co-workers. My boss called me into his office, and I though he was going to compliment me on the baking. Instead, he talked about how his 5-year-old daughter can make brownies better than me. FML
Today, I got a talking-to at work from my new manager for eating other peoples' lunches. Immediately afterwards, I watched my manager leave the room, take MY lunch, and begin eating it. Apparently my new manager is the thief, and I'm now the office pariah who gets the blame. Nobody believes me. FML
Today, for what has seemed to be the hundredth time, my labeled bagged lunch was stolen from the fridge at my workplace. I stormed into my boss's office ready to complain, only to find him eating it. FML
Today, I told my supervisor how awful my coworker was at her job. I then got fired. FML
Today, while working at McDonald's, I was pulled into the manager's office and informed that I'd been caught stealing money from the safe. When I told them to show me the security footage, they refused and fired me on the spot. FML

Doesn't seem like a fireable offense to me.

But theft is. I would report the manager. What a prick.

It is. It is actually assault. You poisoned the thief. As fun as that sounds, it's illegal.

Maybe, but if he lives in a right to work state, which 28 are, than you don't need a reason to fire someone. The dude essentially boopy traped his food with the intent to do harm, and embarrassed his boss in the process. As an adult with a real job I would absolutely expect someone to get fired over this.

Right to work has nothing to do with this. What you are referring to is at-will employment and they are two entirely different things. All states are at-will employment, there is only one state that has specific legislative exceptions. In every single state, you can be fired for any reason that isn't a legally protected reason. However, this what this employee did was illegal. Stealing a brownie from a work fridge, like it or not, is not illegal.

Well, at-will employment makes that an impossibility.

You can't get fired over that. Sue him. If he starts saying that you poisoned him on purpose, just say that you needed the cocolax and put it on the brownie so it would be easier for you. He had no business eating your brownies in the first place.

Well, if he is in the United States they most certainly can fire them for that. One, it is illegal to do what the employee did. Two, at-will employment is a thing.

You want that in writing. That's like a time I got fired "because I didn't belong". Hilarious it was.

Next time, go for something more powerful. Like the horse dewormer that people are using instead of getting a Covid Vaccine.

YDI, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

They can't fire you for that. It was medication. Unless you told her it was a revenge thing...

Wouldn't it have just been easier to not put the brownies where someone could get to them?
