Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend came home, complaining about not having enough money for bills. He then pulled a stack of lottery tickets out of his bag, saying, "I hope one of these wins." FML
Today, I won the lottery. My ex-girlfriend has the ticket. I just broke up with her. FML
Today, my fiancé and his family accused me of being with him only because he's rich, refusing to go ahead with the wedding. I accepted his marriage proposal 4 years ago, when he was penniless and unemployed. FML
Today, after 8 years and a house bought together, I realised I regret getting married. FML
Today, not only did my ex-wife take everything in our divorce, my most recent lottery ticket was off by only one number, I would have won millions and she wouldn’t have been entitled to a penny. Oh well, back to sleeping in my caravan, which is all I have left. FML
Today, I got engaged. My family is already placing bets on how long it will take for my fiancée to "wise up and ditch" me. FML
Today, I discovered my husband hadn't stopped his dangerous gambling habit, even though he'd promised to stop after I caught him the first time two months ago. I'm hurt, sad, confused, and angry. FML
Today, I realized that I may have made a mistake in getting married, because he kept telling people to "Stop fucking crying, it's not a funeral." FML
Today, my husband announced the reason he had been working since much is because he had secretly paid off my tens of thousands of student loans. I then had to tell him I'm leaving him for his best friend. FML
Today, I’m married to a man who thought Trump had several good ideas but just went about it the wrong way, but he’s sure he’ll do better next time when he takes the White House back from Biden. FML

When he wins the lottery you ain't gonna get a dime with that attitude.

Start all your plans with "After my husband gets his future straightened out..."

FHL, more like it. OP you should be more supportive and understanding to your husband. You vowed to be by his side for better or worse. Lead him to a path of planning a future while also hoping to possibly win the lotto. My husband and I always say "if we win the lottery we will have x and go to y or z" it's fun to dream!

But why do you have to rely on the lottery to make plans like that? Why not just say "we should make plans to do x", and then just slowly save up extra money for it? If you win the lottery, great, then you get to do whatever, but if you don't win it shouldn't hamper your planning for the future.

Yes I agree. I just meant that, what my husband and I "dream" plan, is usually outlandish. We are planners and have made every goal we have had, but the lottery thing is a funny dream.

you didn't marry him for a lottery win..and you made only one mistake, you thought you could change him or that he would eventually change and gain responsibility when married..don't marry someone for what you think he could be instead if what he is! marrying someone that you don't accept with all their flaws and try to go changing them has nothing to do with love..either you love him for who he is, crazy unrealistic and all, or you don't..I think you were inlove with your imagination of him and what he could be..reality hits hard, but you've certainly learned a lot about yourself through this experience :) take your decisions and move on with your life, it's far from ****** :)

Meaning he needs money for his plans to come to fruition. A figure of speech.

Dont you think sorting out your future is more important than getting married?

People like you are a big part of why the divorce rate is so high. You marry someone without thinking about the future. If you're dating and all his future plans revolve around winning the lottery, getting married isn't going to change that; YOU aren't going to change that.

He ain't that stupid though.. He is one among that 270 million ticket holders.

What would really suck is for you to divorce him and, a few days after the divorce is final, he does win the lottery.

I'm surprised it took you this long.
