Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I found out my husband spent us into overdraft charges through compulsive online shopping. Again. FML
Today, after I found out my husband cheated on me and then yesterday had to stop him from trying to kill himself, he's now moved out and has decided that this is all my fault. FML
Today, my husband decided to start seeing other people. I found out when I called and interrupted his date. FML
Today, it has been a year and a half since my boyfriend discovered online poker. Annoyed to see him spending every evening playing on his laptop, I threatened him: “Now honey, you have to choose. It’s your poker or me!” Answer: “You are bluffing!” FML
Today, I realized just how bad my 28-year-old husband's gamer rage is when I came home to a smashed TV. This is the second TV in three months that he's destroyed. FML
Today, I found out that my wife has been having an affair with the guy who's been trying to get our relationship back on track. FML
Today, I found out my husband is still friends with someone who talks a lot of crap about me. FML
Today, I found out my mother-in-law sold a precious family heirloom and gambled away the money. FML
Today, I found out my husband was faking his leg injury. I caught him out and about walking just fine, hand in hand with another woman. I’ve been caring for him, holding down the bills, and taking him to an "at home" chiropractor for the past 7 months. FML
Today, I realized that my husband has a video games addiction. I am currently pregnant; he brought us to the same country he's in so we can finally live together, only for me to witness him being glued to his laptop all day and all night playing WoW. He's forgotten I even existed. FML

it's an addiction. he can't just stop. it has to be treated like any other addiction. he has to want to get help

Addicts will promise you anything to get you to stay and pick up the pieces after them. You can’t save him; he has to help himself. And from what you’ve written, it doesn’t sound like he’s trying.

I'll bet you $20 that he doesn't give up gambling this time, either.

It's hard as hell but he's not going to stop until *he* realises that he needs help. You can stay and be punished by his addiction, mentally, emotionally, financially and probably physically if he's gambling in bad places or you can get out and save at least yourself. It *might* be enough of a slap for him to realise he needs help, it might not. But either way, you live in a place where people get a hell of a lot worse than just their legs broken for owing the wrong people. I think you know that he is putting *you* in danger as well. You need to get yourself and any children somewhere safe, asap. Before his bookies start looking at you for repayments. Please, his failure is not yours nor any fault of yours either. Don't let it cost you as well. If you have a church/Mosque, go to them for help, if you can go back to your family, do so but get yourself out and clear before his gambling costs you worse than your life. I know attitudes to marriage and divorce are very different where you are but you need to save yourself. If he doesn't realise that he has to stop, pay off everything he owes and then never do it again then he isn't a Husband and he is the one who has failed you. Please get yourself out and safe 🫂

I get the hurt, sad and angry, but there's nothing confusing about this. Gambling is an addiction and like any other, it's one people fall back into and lie about because it's an addiction. until he wants help for himself, you're gonna keep dealing with it. Choose how you're going to handle it and stick to it.
