Today, I was fixing my makeup in the back room of the office when my boss walked in. He looked kind of annoyed so I jokingly said, "Don't you want your secretary to look good?" He said, "If I did, I wouldn't have hired you." FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boss's husband came over to our office, and as a by the way comment told our boss my make-up looks good and suits me. The thing is, I've never worn make-up to work, and obviously, he never told his wife, my boss, that she looks good with make-up on. I'm fucked. FML
Today, my boss commented on the fact that I don't usually wear makeup, then told me it would be much appreciated if I'd change that. FML
Today, I had a morning shift at the restaurant and didn't feel like wearing makeup. I was energetic and greeted everyone happily, but my manager told me I looked tired. I said, "Oh no I'm just not wearing makeup!" He said, "Well, you might need it." FML
Today, my boss told me that he’d hired me because he thought I looked intelligent. He then went on to say that it was about time that I proved that I was. FML
Today, I asked my manager if wearing makeup was a requirement for the job. She told me, "Not if you're naturally pretty... So for you, yes". FML
Today, I applied for a job as a secretary. As I sat in the waiting room, the interviewer came out with his wife. She gave me a once-over, then said to her husband, "Hire this one. She's so ugly, you would never have an affair with her." FML
Today, I was talking to my boss at the end of an awesome internship. He said he was really satisfied with my work, and that he had considered hiring me. Turns out he decided not to because I smile too much, and it freaks him out. FML
Today, I got up early and really put some extra effort into my appearance to catch the eye of a cute guy at work. I walked in and the woman who sits at the desk beside me looks over and says, "Wow, are you sick? You're not looking too good." FML
Today, at work, the janitor would not stop telling me how good I looked. This was after he told me he was fired for sexual harassment at his last job. He clearly learned that lesson. FML
Today, my boss told me I got my new job because she rejected candidates that seemed "too confident" or "too pretty." FML

Well to be fair that was a bit too flirtatious if you don't have a relationship with him outside the office. But that was a huge slap across the face, FYL. Look at it on the bright side, you could always get back at him about his smarts later on. He left the door open. ;) PS I feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I see there's no "FIRST!!" comment.

Technically, your comment could be construed as sexual harrassment, as if you're assuming he's the kind of guy who hired you for your looks. And, bathrooms are where you go to fix your makeup. Then you can use the, "I went in to pee, noticed my eyeliner was smudged, and quickly fixed it." Where you went, it's pretty clear you went there specifically to fix your makeup.

YDI. a) don't fish for compliments and b) do your damned job, I'd love a job as a secretary but no one in my area is hiring right now - they're filled with jeans-wearing, gum-snapping trash who acts rude to everyone who comes into the office.
