Today, my friends and I were shopping for dresses. I asked the lady at the counter for a size 4, she looked at me and mumbled, "Yeah, right…" in front of everyone. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I went shopping for a new pair of jeans. I was feeling good about the fact that I was going down a waist size until the cashier decided to discuss with me, three co-workers, and the ten other people in line how she didn't even know jeans came in sizes that big. FML
Today, while shopping for a birthday present for my size 0 friend, I picked out a pair of pants for her. When paying, the cashier looked me up and down and said, "Well, you're pretty optimistic aren't you?" FML
Today, while standing in line at the grocery store, I noticed that myself and the woman in front of me were wearing the same shirt. As she was about to leave, I said to her "Hey! I'm wearing that shirt!" She turned to me and replied, "Not in THIS size you aren't." FML
Today, I went shopping with my grandma. Told her I saw a pretty dress I liked. She asked me who would fit in that? When I replied they have it in different sizes. She replied with, "Yeah but definitely not yours.". FML
Today, my mom and I were looking at dresses for me at the mall. The cashier pointed out a dress, and my mom said, "She's definitely not going to fit into that. She's too flat-chested." FML
Today, a customer said the pants she was buying rang up more than advertised. I quietly told her plus-sizes were not on sale. The customer yelled in front of a whole line of people, "So I'm fat and can't read! Any other insults you'd like to throw at me?" and stormed out of the store. FML
Today, I was planning on meeting my friend at the mall. She came late, and I was in the dressing room trying on a few things. When I came out to meet her, she looked at me oddly and said, "You shouldn't buy that, it looks terrible on you." Those were the clothes I came in. FML
Today, I was trying on wedding dresses with my future sister-in-law who is a little bigger than me. We tried on a similar dress and she said it looked better on me because I'm skinny. Instead of saying, "No way" or "It looks great on you", I accidentally said, "Yeah, I know." FML
Today, I was shopping with a friend. We snuck into the same fitting room so we could give our opinions on each other's clothes. The suspicious saleswoman knocked on the door and asked how many people were in our room. I quickly answered, "It's OK. She's just watching." FML
Today, a heavy set lady came to my boutique asking for our "largest" 28in size jeans. I decided to humor her by giving a 52 mislabeled as a 28. It fit perfectly! She happily bought it and left. Later, her mother, who is a Super Karen and twice her size, came to complain about me to the owner for bodyshaming her daughter. FML

Report her to her manager. Sales reps can get in a LOT of trouble for treating customers like that.

If anyone every treats you like that again, just wrinkle your nose at them and say, '& the last time you had a wash was..?' / 'Excuse me, but your dandruff is flaking into my purchase.' More than likely to shut them up. :] &&, FYL. You didn't deserve that. xx

having worked in retail it is so ANNOYING to have a chubby chick claim to be 4 sizes smaller than she really is... cause it means More work FOR ME. i don't care if you're a size 2 or a size 22... just get the RIGHT size in the first place and stop trying to fool me or yourself or anyone else. i actually had to tell a girl once that she had to purchase some pants she ripped trying on.

Everyone carries their weight differently. i have the same problem as 26. im an 8 (most of the time) but people always buy me 4's and 6's. Clothes in general are just confusing. a 4 at one store could be closer to a 6 at another. someone needs to standardize that crap. I also think that its strange for women to try on clothes they KNOW are too small. just wear something that fits and cut out the tag- bam! no one has to know. (not that you should be ashamed, but we're all self concious sometimes,)

Is size four big? I'm from the UK where it only goes down to size eight, a four is the same as your size zero. So I don't really see a problem unless the sizes are very different over there.

I agree, PLEASE REPORT HER. As someone who's been suffering from an eating disorder for years, I am so sick of hearing about this kind of thing... for me and many others a comment like that could be the ONE THING that triggers a relapse... completely unacceptable, not to mention plain rude.

Everyone here is saying something about calling the sales lady fat/she couldn't fit in a 4/etc. But the OP never said the woman was thin nor big... But I do agree that you should report the woman. That's so rude of her. And #73 has a great point.
