Today, it has been 8 months since I started a photography project in which I would take a picture of the same tree every day for a year. I just heard a noise outside. They cut the tree down. FML

Today, I woke up and found that the tree in my front yard was gone. FML
Today, I was awakened by the sound of chain-saws. Moments later a tree branch came through my roof. FML
Today, I got home to find my truck smashed by a fallen old tree. I was going to have the tree removed next week. FML
Today, I finally went to Home Depot to buy a chainsaw to cut down the tree leaning dangerously over my garage. When I got home, I found the tree had fallen and taken out the roof while I was shopping. FML
Today, my boss sent me to remove a tree from a client's home. So I went and cut down the tree, only for my boss to show up an hour later, speechless. I was supposed to remove a sapling that had sprouted through the driveway tarmac, not the 100-year-old prizewinning Japanese cherry tree. FML
Today, a 100-foot maple tree fell on my house. I was inside. I was sleeping. FML
Today, I watched one of my neighbor's trees fall into the electrical lines outside my house. This was after he took a chainsaw to the tree. He refuses to cover the damages. FML
Today, a storm dropped a tree across my road. I would have moved it with my tractor, but there was a tree on that too. FML
Today, I woke up at 4AM to the sound of lightning hitting a tree in my backyard, then that tree proceeding to hit my house. Later, my neighbor's tree fell over, which hit our fence, and they're not even home. FML
Today, my husband finally got round to cutting down a tree limb in our front yard after months of me begging him. It fell on me. FML

Holly shit, OP, don't be such a beech, and don't pine over your loss. You have to cedar forest for the trees here. Just tell yourself that everything will be oak. Maple the stump will grow some interesting firieties of flora. You need to cypress on with your project. You never know - you may be able to spruce up your project and have it end up being the most poplar in the class. Good luck.

sometimes trees get old and dangerous depending on how close to a house they are. I was upset when they took down a few trees on my street until I remember that one of the trees had a huge branch break off and break my windshield a few years ago. thank god it was my car and not the house where my kids sleep.

A few weeks ago my local streets department left a notice that they're going to cut down the trees in front of my house because they're diseased & dying. But they haven't gotten to it yet because in the meantime we had a big storm and now they're busy cleaning up the limbs that broke off all the healthy trees. No harm to my 'dead' trees, however. Go figure.
