Quiet
Today, I was sitting in the hospital waiting area. An old lady was crying, and my five year-old daughter asked her, "Are you okay?" The woman quietly nodded, prompting my daughter to scream at the top of her lungs, "Well shut up then!" FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my five-year-old daughter told me she was going to throw up. I told her to rush to the bathroom. I followed her a few seconds later, only to find her sitting on the toilet and vomiting onto the floor. FML
Today, my five-year-old daughter is absolutely miserable and constantly putting herself down, as she has been for a week. What happened a week ago? She bumped into a stranger at Walmart, apologized, and the guy told her, “Nope, not good enough. You need to die.” Who says that to a child? FML
Today, my tired son and I were riding a shuttle bus. An old lady got on, and I told him we needed to get up so she could have the seat. He started crying and screamed, "WHY? She's old, she's gonna die soon!" I wanted to melt into the ground. FML
Today, I was in line at the store behind a lady and her young daughter. Trying to be polite I smiled at the little girl. She burst into tears asking her mommy 'what is wrong with that ladies teeth'. Apparently braces on a 25 year old is not 'kid friendly'. FML
Today, I had to listen to my daughter’s explosive diarrhea while I watched TV. When she came out of the bathroom, she went white as a sheet. Apparently she thought she was alone. FML
Today, I noticed my daughter’s bathroom was dusty, so I screamed at her for keeping the bathroom in unacceptable condition. She had a panic attack and has been crying for the past week. She’s 24. FML
Today, I was sitting outside of a counseling center waiting for someone, watching an older lady bawl her eyes out as she exited the building. Absolutely broke my heart, because asking her if she was okay would have been intrusive and unasked for... and yet I can't get the sight of her crying out of my head. FML
Today, while waiting in line at a store, a toddler behind me was throwing a major meltdown while his father yelled at him, giving me a migraine. I turned to the woman behind me and said, "Can you believe this kid? I feel sorry for his mother." Turns out the woman was his mother. FML
Today, I overheard a lady tell her child in a store that, “If you don’t stop crying, I’ll tell that guy over there to take you away.” She was referring to me. FML
Today, I went to watch the Movie "UP." At one point in the movie I got really sad and started to cry a bit. The 7 year old girl next to me noticed and told me to shut and man up. FML

Five year olds model behavior - from parents, siblings, school or any other verbal sources.

Not always true, my mates kids come out with absolute pearlers. They normally get disciplined but the interesting observations / comments keep coming.

And who givees?
kelsey_katie 17
You need to teach her some manners. It is NEVER acceptable to act like that.... I'm sorry OP, but your five year old is not the kind of child I want to meet.
slushpup9696 12
Well derpity derp, I bet OP never thought of that. Yep, seems like OP posted this FML out of pride for her 5-year-old's quick wit.
kelsey_katie 17
OP's daughter is a brat who needs to be taught some respect... Just saying.
JohnBoyFsYL 10
Yeah, Cos damn, you're 15, you know eeeverything about a raising a child, right? Give me a break.
Kwejee 1
At fifteen, I would think they would know about manners. Also, no one knows everything about parenting.
RyanMacVey 17
51 - people seriously need to stop acting like age is sooo important.... i bet some 15 year olds know way more about kids than you dude.... my mum had her second child when she was 15, age doesnt change how much someone knows about a particular thing so stfu
zolziski 11
Yes, gayboii, I'm sure there are 15 year olds who know more about kids than 51, but he's not the one making statements as if he knows all there is to know about child-raring. He's merely pointing out that he won't be taking kelsey_Katie's word for anything on this matter as she is only 15 and clearly has no children of her own. The age is relevant because the experience is clearly lacking. Now, I'm not saying the child's behavior was acceptable, but knowing how a child should act in public does not mean you know how it would act. All children push the boundaries. All the time. And they often do so at the worst time and place. This does not mean that the OP hasn't been teaching her child manners, or that the child isn't usually well-behaved. And assuming so just shows how little Kelsey_Katie knows about children.

i get what your saying... but i wasnt talking about her in particular... i was just pissed coz he implied that a 15 year old wouldnt know about kids... and even if they havent had any of there own they still might have had experience with them.... some baby-sit or look after younger brothers and sisters so saying they dont have experience coz of there age is wrong

I'm 16 and know more about parenting than women twice my age. knowing about parenting comes with actually taking care of a child, not with age. I have three younger sisters that I've helped raise since I was five. they may not be my kids, but I say I make a damn good mother. besides, she didn't even say she knew everything about parenting. it's kinda common sense to know that a child shouldn't act like that. especially in public. then again, it's difficult to control what comes out of a Childs mouth. they're still learning.

112 Were you on MTV's 16 and pregnant?
zolziski 11
That's my point zurisbloodrose, you can't control what a child says and a bad incident like that doesn't mean the OP is a bad parent or even that the child is a brat. You understand this because you've had experience helping out with your little sisters. Perhaps the age comment wasn't all that relevant, but I do think that to a degree (if there is no valuable experience) the younger you are, the less patient and understanding you are when it comes to kids and so in that sense age is relevant. Personally, and perhaps I am a bit paranoid, but I wouldn't let anyone younger than 21 look after my kids (and maybe not even then).

125- she said she helped raise her younger siblings. She's not a mom.

51- And you're a fat 22 year old with the hair of a preteen boy. I doubt you will learn much about parenting for a while.

Lmao look at 51's shirt
kelsey_katie 17
I feel like a complete idiot. Just because I'm 15, doest mean that I dont know about parenting. I'm sorry to have offend you all... I was just trying to make a statement-_-
kelsey_katie 17
Gayboii, you are absolutely right. I babysit for a seventeen month old and a five year old. And, I've helped with my young sister. I know quite a bit about parenting. Sorry for expressing my opinion.

137- You'd beat a five year old for saying that?! Shes 5. Not 14. You're one sick ****.
JohnBoyFsYL 10
141 I'm not 22. Learn math. And with the t shirt it's hardly my fault that FML decided to cut off the bottom half of it so no one except the lucky few who have one know what it means.
kelsey_katie 17
203,Either way, you probably don't knowthat mug about parenting either.
JohnBoyFsYL 10
I never said I did. You were the one who was throwing around insults at a 5 year old child. I just questioned your ability to fairly do that. Apparently people don't like that and prefer to continue throwing around insults instead of dealing with the matter at hand.
zolziski 11
I'm sorry, but anyone who has a 15 year old babysit for them is irresponsible. (For a 5 year old it could maybe be OK if you're in a pinch, but a baby?!) You can't even drive at that age! Maybe the emergency services are better in the US, but where I'm from (South Africa) you're better off driving to the hospital yourself. You can't do that 'til you're 18 in SA. As it stands, my mother is the only person I trust to look after my two girls, apart from the adults at the nursery I help run and work at.
kelsey_katie 17
I'm probably one of the most responsible people that you'll ever meet. I'm very mature for my age, and in the states, most teens are babysitters.
kelsey_katie 17
222, I wasn't throwing around insults. I was stating an opinion.
Ashle1gh 14
Let's feel sorry for OP because she ****** her child up. Poor parenting pity party, anyone?
zurisbloodyrose 0
that's not poor parenting. almost every child will spout something they aren't supposed to say. and it's not the parents fault. that's the child still learning what to say and what not to say.
jessesgirl14 16
I agree that it's the parents fault! Children pick up things from 'home' so apparently the child's parent(s) are rude too
