Today, I stopped at a red light, when I noticed the car in front of me was in reverse. I honked at the driver, hoping he'd realize and place the car in drive. He thought the light turned green and immediately backed into me. FML

Today, the person I was driving behind put their car in reverse and backed straight into me. I was then yelled at and told, "I had my reversing lights on! Why didn't you move?!" FML
Today, a stoplight turned yellow as I was approaching it. I was about to go through but saw a cop, panicked, and slammed on the brakes. I ended up in the middle of the intersection and had to reverse. Soon the light turned green, and I stepped on the gas. My car was still in reverse. FML
Today, I was driving around a parking lot, looking for an empty spot. Someone was backing out a bit too quickly as I was about to pass by, so I honked to announce myself. The driver instead panicked and reversed into my front bumper. FML
Today, I was driving in my very own car that I bought and paid for myself, when I stopped at a stop light. Then I noticed the truck in front of me turn on his reverse lights. I honked desperately. He hits me, looks out the window and says, "I see no damage" and drives away. FML
Today, I stopped at a red light. I noticed the car in front of me had their reverse lights on. I thought to myself, "Meh, that person must know. They wouldn't do that." The light turned green. Turns out they didn't. Nor did they have insurance. FML
Today, I was driving home from work and noticed the car behind me was tailgating me pretty badly. I was starting to get angry with the driver, and kept glancing in my rear view mirror at him. While I was doing so, the traffic ahead of me stopped, and I rear-ended the car in front of me. FML
Today, while at a stop light, I was rear-ended by a car behind me. The guy got angry at me, because according to him, I should've known that his car has poor braking distance, and so I should've moved forward a few more feet to compensate. FML
Today, I was driving to work and stopped at a stop light. A full 2 or 3 seconds passed, followed by a car rear-ending me. The idiot driving it got out and gave me hell, calling me a maniac because I braked "too quickly" and didn't give him a chance to react. FML
Today, I noticed I parked behind a boy I like. Trying to impress him with my driving skills, I ended up forgetting to put the car in reverse and rear-ended him. FML
Today, I decided to be a good driver and not run through the yellow light. As soon as I stopped my car another came and rear-ended me. The guy told me to go in the parking lot so we can exchange information. So I drove into the parking lot, I turned my head and watched him drive away. FML

If you go too far and pass the white line, you simply put it in reverse. That driver just forgot to shift it back to drive. **I can so picture this happening!

Sometimes they its cammera trying to get you to pay them off saying you ran into them. Thats why a dash cam is a must even where people appear to be good drivers with good moral values.

I'm guessing that the driver wanted the 'neutralize' the gear so to start in first. I have no license so my knowledge is vague. However I do know that most cars has to start in first gear and work it's way up. Maybe the car had been riding in fifth gear and then the driver had to slow down, putting it in reverse as he stopped at the light instead of neutral?

I would think that is close to impossible . If you would try to change to reverse while the car is still going you will need a lot of strength (most likely you won´t be able to do it at all) and probably destroy your car.

I drive a Volkswagen 6 speed manual and I've noticed because of the shift pattern it would be possible to land in reverse while aiming for first. If it's a 5 speed than the guy is just an idiot.

They might have been over the white line then backed up and may have forgotten to put it back in drive. Or they might just like to put it in reverse at red lights. We may never know.
