Today, I was driving to work and stopped at a stop light. A full 2 or 3 seconds passed, followed by a car rear-ending me. The idiot driving it got out and gave me hell, calling me a maniac because I braked "too quickly" and didn't give him a chance to react. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, while at a stop light, I was rear-ended by a car behind me. The guy got angry at me, because according to him, I should've known that his car has poor braking distance, and so I should've moved forward a few more feet to compensate. FML
Today, I was driving home from work and noticed the car behind me was tailgating me pretty badly. I was starting to get angry with the driver, and kept glancing in my rear view mirror at him. While I was doing so, the traffic ahead of me stopped, and I rear-ended the car in front of me. FML
Wrong way down a one-way street
Today, I was driving down a one-way street, when some raging dumbass came screaming the wrong way down the road at me. My instant reaction was to brake and give the guy a chance to do the same. His instant reaction was to keep going and wreck my car. FML
Today, the person I was driving behind put their car in reverse and backed straight into me. I was then yelled at and told, "I had my reversing lights on! Why didn't you move?!" FML
Noooooooo!
Today, I stopped at a red light, when I noticed the car in front of me was in reverse. I honked at the driver, hoping he'd realize and place the car in drive. He thought the light turned green and immediately backed into me. FML
Road safety
Today, while driving to work, some asshole stopped sharply on the 60 mph highway because he almost hit the car in front of him. Even with maintaining my distance, and slamming on the brakes, I still ruined the front end of my car on his dented bumper. I haven't even had the car for a year, and I'm still the one at fault. FML
Coming through!
Today, I was driving around a parking lot, looking for an empty spot. Someone was backing out a bit too quickly as I was about to pass by, so I honked to announce myself. The driver instead panicked and reversed into my front bumper. FML
Tailgate party
Today, while driving home, some idiot kept tailgating me, so I slowed down, hoping he'd overtake me. He didn't, so I pulled to the side of the road. He did the same, in front of me. He kept toying with me until I crashed into another car trying to speed away from him. FML
Today, I decided to be a good driver and not run through the yellow light. As soon as I stopped my car another came and rear-ended me. The guy told me to go in the parking lot so we can exchange information. So I drove into the parking lot, I turned my head and watched him drive away. FML
Today, I got rear ended. The guy flashed his lights at me to pull over, so I pulled into the side of the road. He drove away. FML

I'm assuming the police sided with you on this one?
Anti_Sora 31
If they didn't I'd be pissed.

In Europe generally the person accountable is the one who rear ends.

In America too

...Especially when approaching a stop or a red light. Unfortunately, common sense is not common. Good luck with this one OP!

I don't know how it works in Poland, but in America, the person that rear-ends another is always responsible. He should have left more space between both of your cars. You should check and see what your country's road laws are, he might be at fault there too.

Well yes, unless the person driving in front brakes too quickly when there isn't a light or stop sign. Then it's just an accident

Not true in my state, 13. If anyone rear ends someone, they are at fault for following too closely. You are supposed to leave enough space to be able to react to the car ahead of you.

#32 and I are the same. One of the first things they teach in driving school here is that the one who rear-ends is always at fault. They are responsible for leaving an appropriate amount of space between themselves and the car again.

but what about those who cant react that split second someone cuts them off? it can be anyones fault, but the OP got rear ended by an idiotic, possibly wreckless driver on their phone.

In my state, they usually use the who ever rear ended thing, but in certain cases, like being cut off, they'll use damage on the cars to determine who was a fault. It's a pain, though leaving enough room and not getting cut off. I try to leave a 3-7 second following distance, depending on how fast we're going and I'm constantly cut off by assholes who, well, I don't even know what they're thinking. I know how long it takes my car to stop, and I drive accordingly. I thought it was basic drivers ed. But, then again, most people don't seem to have taken drivers ed.
Fairyjoshy 13
Oh they take Driver's Ed. They kinda have to. The thing is they just laugh their way through the class. I had to take my Driver's Ed with clique of dipshits like that. They also happened to be stereotypical school bullies, too, of the "they think it's funny to hold a door shut and prevent anyone from getting inside in the winter" sort.

Drivers Ed is completely optional where I live. You get a discount on insurance if you complete it. But you definitely don't have to take the class.

He's an asshole. Sometimes people can't stop right away and rear end the other people but he's just making himself look like an idiot

he is an Asshole, but if you are too close to stop in time, you're doing it wrong.

If there are traffic cameras where the stop light is situated; a look at the footage should show that you are the aggrieved party here.

#9 the reactions oft a dead turtle

Put your finger in the mouth of a snapping turtle, see how fast it reacts. A much better animal analogy would be a sloth.

Try a snail that has just slid over and ingested some Valium.

I lost a turtle once, in my house. Those things are not slow. I mean, they're not quick but I was like five...

Some cannot admit fault, no matter the circumstance. It's best not to engage, just exchange info, call the cops, just don't talk about the details of the accident. Glad nobody got hurt!
