No future

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend of several years, and father of our one-year-old child, finally proposed. He was making idle conversation from twenty feet away and casually said, "By the way, you wanna get hitched?" This is as romantic as my life will ever get. Yay. FML
Today, my best friend told me she's been in love with me for over 4 years. I'm getting married to the man of my dreams in a month and she's supposed to be my bridesmaid. "Awkward" doesn't even begin to describe our friendship right now. FML
Today, my ex-girlfriend proposed to me, at my wedding. FML
Today, the guy I've been seeing for a little over a week proposed to me. FML
Today, after my girlfriend telling me for years that she would marry me in a heartbeat, I finally proposed. She said no. FML
Today, my boyfriend of five years finally asked me to marry him. He said, "We could save on taxes if we got married… What do you think?" That was the most romantic thing he's said to me in the last two years. FML
Today, my girlfriend told me that she wants to marry me and have my children. I’m 15. We've been dating for 3 weeks. FML
Today, after pouring my heart out to my girlfriend of four years through a speech that took me three weeks to write, and then proposing, she responded, "Eh, why not." FML
Today, another man proposed to my girlfriend. She said yes. FML
Today, my best friend got engaged to the guy she's been seeing for five years. He also happens to be the man I've been in love with for eight. As she was giving me the details, she nonchalantly gave me her reason for accepting the proposal: "Why the hell not, there's always divorce." FML

Did she know you were going to propose? Maybe she was just dropping a hint she wants to make you a husband

Agree with the other poster - it was probably a way of her dropping hints and being coy. Rather than say “If we get married, I’d be so happy!” and potentially scaring you away, she worded it differently to say you’d make a great husband. It was probably like a playful, tongue-in-cheek thing. I know you’re probably super nervous so your gut reaction was to perceive her words negatively, but definitely err on the side of OPTIMISM in this case! Go forward with the proposal on her birthday and let us know how it goes! 😄😄😄😊😊😊

Together for 4 years ... are you sure you were in a relationship or in the friendzone and she was just being nice to you

I get that there is joy from a surprise proposal. But that’s a life long decision that should be discussed by both parties before it happens. That’s just an opinion though.

Could be her way of saying "propose to me already, sheesh!"

probably a hint

maybe it was her way of hinting that she wants you to put a ring on it.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but maybe she thinks you're going to propose and this is her way of letting you know that she's not cool with it. Have you ever discussed marriage & family or no family?

This could have been her way of hinting around that she's ready for you to pop the question. If that's the case, at least she's on board!

Are you sure you've been together for 4 years? She doesn't seem to think it's a serious thing.
