Frustration
Today, I found out I need surgery for a hernia that blew up after working out. I’ve been working out constantly to keep my mind off of my ex, who was the right person at the wrong time, and now I can’t even do that. FML

Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I applied to a new gym. Now I have a hernia. FML
Today, I found out I have to have an operation. This will be the third in 3 years, all for completely unrelated reasons. I'm only 26 and apparently my body is already falling apart at the seams. FML
Today, I found out that at my work they are cutting one and a half of our departments, and I might need to find a new job. The problem is it's going to be really hard to get new job, as nowhere will want to hire someone who needs surgery. FML
Today, I found out my husband texted his ex-wife, all the while I've had a torn rotator cuff for a year, which I will finally be getting surgery on in three weeks. He twisted his shoulder last week while installing a toilet and suddenly the world is ending, his pain is all encompassing. I also have Lupus since 2017. FML
Today, my wife asked when I was going back to the gym because I am developing a belly, which she finds disgusting. I've just had surgery on my thigh, which was her fault for asking, “What’s this thing do?” while grabbing the handle to the jack holding up my car, dropping the car on my leg. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend is cheating on me. The worst part is I’m currently stuck in his house and can’t even deal with a fight right now. Why? Because I just had surgery this morning. FML
Today, on top of learning that I have three discs pressing on my spinal column and a labral tear, I also found out my left testicle dropped, but not my right one. I'm nearly 40 and I need to see a urologist over this. After the surgeries to fix my spine and hip. FML
Today, I gave myself a hernia while farting. FML
Today, I found out I need to have emergency surgery, which is extremely convenient considering I'm literally supposed to be moving out of state in two days and my whole house is completely packed. FML
Today, I said that I'm not okay with my body. I'm not extremely obese, just gained some pounds, but it bugs me. My wife told me to search opportunities instead of excuses, and go to the f*ing gym. I'm still recovering after a serious accident and surgery, and I can't walk yet. FML

The timing may be weird for the injury and the former relationship, but you have to love and accept yourself exactly where you are right now

working out is good but avoidance is not. you're going to face your feelings sooner or later, avoiding them isn't going to work. when you get better use exercise as a way to help with the coping process and not a tool escape your problems

You need therapy, not body taxing workouts to injure yourself. After the surgery and physiotherapy, seek talk therapy. You needed to improve your mental health, not overdo your physical health. Get well.

Working out is actually great for mental health. I only started after hitting a new low at age 29, and it's amazing how much it helps.

I am aware working out helps mental health. I'm an athlete who works out weekly so I implore physical fitness. I'm not telling OP or anyone to stop exercising as a whole, but to implement therapy as well. Since OP was injured from working out, obviously it's not the complete answer to his problems. He needs both to improve and balance both physical and mental health.

I do agree it helps but it isn't the cure for mental health problems. The time when I was most fit and working out way more than now was also the time when my mental health was the worst it's ever been.
