Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my 10-year-old niece asked me how to spell "embarrassing." I confidently spelled it out. She giggled and said, "No, that's wrong." She was right, and to make matters a tad ironic, I'd just finished bragging about winning a spelling bee back in middle school. FML
Today, I found myself arguing with a 6-year-old over a game of tag. FML
Today, I got into an argument with a 7 year old. He said that Obama was the 44th President, I said he was the 42nd. Guess who was right. FML
Today, the kids I teach informed me that I had spelled my name incorrectly on the board. I looked at it and assured them that I had spelled it correctly. I'm 22 and a graduate student, they're six and mentally challenged. Guess who was right? FML
Today, my niece, who is fifteen, convinced my six-year-old daughter that her name is spelled C-U-N-T, and just pronounced as Catherine. FML
Today, my seven-year-old niece gave me a birthday card. Only she'd spelled my name as ‘Jenny.’ When I told her it was spelled with an i instead of a y, she cried. FML
Today, trying to be nice, I asked my little sister how school was. She burst into a temper tantrum and screamed at me to fuck off. She's eight. FML
Today, I was reading a picture storybook to a kindergarten kid. She could pronounce more words than me, and corrected me. I'm about triple her age. FML
Today, my nine-year-old niece found my coloring book that features swear words. I took it away and hid it in a different spot. No less than an hour later, her younger sister found it. FML
Today, while home from college for the weekend, my sister started whining about how I keep using "big fancy college words" and making her feel bad. My sister is 27 and teaches elementary school. The word I used was "ludicrous." FML

You had two choices: eight or twenty-six. If you went any different, then you failed.

I don't think you're stupid for what you did. I mean, only EVERY PERSON OVER AGE 3 knows how many letters there are, but you'll learn eventually.

why did you have this argument with an 8 year old? even if you were right, there's really no point. Be the mature one and humor them, your pride can wait when it comes to little kids.

@OP, please go find a building with as many letters u think the alphabet has, and jump off it; then we can all move on to teach u about gravity

Honestly, why would you fight an eight year old on that? That stuff is fresh in their mind. It's a whole "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" thing. (Kill me for mentioning something related to Jeff Foxworthy.)
