Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I got my first tattoo. I felt good about it, until I told my mom, who was not happy. She responded by taking me out of her car insurance policy, family plan, and charging me for rent every month since I, "wanna be all grown up now.” FML
Today, I learned that ever since I got a tattoo, my mother had edited her will, said I was no longer her daughter, and took me out of it. While my sister got a payout, I basically missed out all because of a small tattoo of a flower on my ankle. I’m a single struggling starving mom. She knew this. FML
Today, I realized that the "holla" tattoo I stupidly got on my lower lip five years ago isn't fading as I expected it to, and will probably contribute to my unemployment for years to come. FML
Today, I got a tattoo. My mom got upset and threw a bitch fit about how my body "is a temple and it belongs to God.” I told her, “My body, my choice.” She responded with, “Oh really? Well, my house, my choice who lives here. Pack your shit and get the fuck out.” I’m currently in my car with nowhere to go. FML
Today, my mother threatened to disown me if I didn't break up with my tattooed girlfriend. FML
Today, I decided it was a good day to get my first tattoo since turning 18. Today, my parents decided it was a good day to make me homeless, because they are religious nutjobs that still live in the 19th century. Oh, and they’re no longer paying for my tuition. FML
Today, my mom tried to burn my arm with a hot spatula, all because I got a tattoo against her wishes. FML
Today, is the day I got my first tattoo. It's also the day where my mom screamed at me, gave me the silent treatment, and kicked me out of the house. Apparently I’m not considered her daughter anymore, because my skin is “damaged” now. I don’t have other family anywhere, and I have nowhere to go. FML
Today, I got piss drunk. Being a tattoo artist, I came to the intoxicated conclusion that I could save much more money doing my own tattoos on myself. I now have my ex-boyfriend's name permanently on my thigh. It's not even spelled right. FML
Today, my mom found out that I got a tattoo two years ago. She got mad and spanked me. I'm 33 years-old. FML

Most jobs are ok with tattoos as long as they're easily hidden. Plus the number of employers who are against tattoos seems to be decreasing. So unless you have a face/neck tattoo, you should be fine.

What did you want to do? Do you have tattoos on your face? In most jobs, you could cover up most tattoos. I’ll need more details before I deface this comment section with unnecessary ink.

What exactly did you want to do? Was it something religious but that big ol' "Burn in Hell" tattoo" on your arm preventing you from getting into the field?

Gentleman's club is a classy place, of course they won't let you work there with a tattoo. It isn't a strip club.

Invest in some high quality foundation- preferably water resistant, or set said foundation with a spray that puts a water resistant layer over it. Many workplaces are stepping away from complete bans on tattoos, with some only asking that any unprofessional, vulgar, or bigoted tattoos are hidden or altered into a more professional appearance. Others ask that most tattoos are covered, and any visible ones are work place appropriate. Then there are the ones that still refuse to hire those that are tattooed, and also fire anyone who was first hired THEN got a tattoo- sometimes even when there isn't actually any policy or other official rule against them in the employee handbook. So many people have drawn huge amounts of attention to the last of the types of companies I listed. The arguments between the "constitutional right to express yourself" side and the "tattoos are unprofessional and indicate poor judgement" sides did and still are having an affect on how businesses approach tattoos. Ironically, despite both major sides being unwilling to compromise, the majority of companies are taking the middle of the road in regards to changing their policies.

I always had the policy that my tattoos are for me, and all my tattoos can be covered with a short sleeve shirt. I hold the same standards in my hiring practices. I don't care that you have tattoos, I just don't want to see them at work.

If nothing else, there's always tattoo removal!

This really all depends on where the tattoos are located and what the design of them are.

There's make-up specifically designed to cover tattoos. Invest in some or save up and get them removed. Your life's not over.
