Long haul

Today, my flight from China to Moscow arrived late, making me miss my next transfer flight back home to Ireland. I had to wait for 24 hours for the next flight, without food vouchers, without a free hotel room, and without a free plane ticket that the airport was suppose to give. FML

Last call, bad decisions and 3 a.m. texts you'll regret until noon. Cheers.

I have been stuck in an airport overnight before and it’s not a lot of fun. If the airline can claim the delay or missed flight was beyond their control such as due to extreme weather then other than as a courtesy they don’t have to provide lodging or meals. And of course you are in a foreign country… I would suggest staying at the airport unless there is a safe and comfortable hotel on the site. That avoids going back though security, passports, etc. Find an out of the way corner that’s quieter and take a whole bench if you need to lay down. Occasionally the carrier will supply cots and blankets if a significant number of people are stranded.

I have literally never heard of an airport being responsible for replacing a ticket because of delays. In my experience that's always been the responsibility of the airline. Is it possible that you were just talking to the wrong people about it?

While you're there, you might as well pick up some performance-enhancing drugs or some ransomware. You're in the right place for that!
