Today, I was stuck at the airport overnight waiting for my flight for about 5 hours. I then went and looked at the departures board. It said that my flight had already departed. FML

Today, I waited patiently in the airport as my flight was repeatedly delayed. After 5 long hours I approached one of the attendees to discover that the plane had left 5 minutes ago. FML
Today, I'm stuck at the airport overnight, because my phone didn't update its time zone after flying in, so I watched my train leave, thinking mine wasn't due for another hour. FML
Today, due to a scheduling error, I spent an entire day and night in an airport, over 30 hours in total. Just as I arrived at the gate, I was informed that my flight had been delayed for another 2 hours. FML
Today, I was waiting at the airport for a flight when I looked down and realised that I had booked the wrong date. Frantically, I tried to rebook the flight, but it was completely sold out. Now, I'm stuck in the airport for the next 24 hours with nothing to do. FML
Today, I checked in for my flight, made it through TSA, bought food, and sat at the gate for an hour. I only realized I was sitting at the wrong gate when boarding for another flight finished and everyone had left. I ran to the correct gate, but it was too late. Despite me pleading, the plane was already taxiing to the runway. FML
Today, I was on a flight home. I wasn't going to arrive until midnight, so I was offered an earlier flight that got back at ten. I got to baggage claims and it turned out they lost my bag. I sat there for 2 hours. The people on my original flight left for home before I did. FML
Today, when I arrived at the airport for my international flight there was no record of my ticket in the system. Turns out the flight was yesterday. FML
Today, to avoid a massive delay on our scheduled flight at the airport, we were generously moved to an earlier flight home. An hour later, our new flight had been cancelled and they told us we'd be stuck at the airport overnight. Our original flight took off fine. FML
Today, I was at the airport getting ready to go to Hawaii. The guy at the counter said my flight was delayed. It turns out that the flight that was delayed was a flight going to Miami. My flight left at the regular time, and my luggage was on it, because I checked in the night before. FML
Today, I woke up at 3am to catch my flight back home, only to realize that my flight was pushed back 14 hours. FML

Airlines don't generally call out specific names of those who have not shown up yet. If you don't board when they call for it, you're just out of luck. If you've been stuck waiting for a plane to depart, it's probably some technical reason rather than the airline trying to find one specific person.

I work for Jetblue and they do call out your name. They also check to see if you checked in and if you did they will call your number you left with reservations to check and see if your still going to make that flight.

I know at least American airlines calls out names. They are like, "so and so" report to gate -- for boarding." "so and so final call gate --". I constantly hear them call out names.

The planes i take don't call out for people. You're not in time, your loss, No refunds. No compromises, either, since apparently taking in a larger hand-luggage is impossible. (it's fun to be exactly one minute too late for check-in. Yes, I missed that plane).

Wtf #74 should of flown jetblue! Airlines don't wait for people because it cost them thousands of dollars if the aircraft is still at the gate after 15 minutes. If it's a mechanics issues thats a different story. Also, if you do miss your flight they put you on standby for the next flight. You being late has nothing to do with you luggage. If it's too big it gets gate checked.
