It's a pretty good response, though
Today, I got a call from my son’s teacher. Apparently, while doing a test, he responded to the question, "Predict how the government will change in the next ten years" with, "I’m not psychic." FML

Thanksgiving
Questions about your love life, a burnt turkey and the cousin who knows everything: Thanksgiving, a contact sport.
Today, I had a parent-teacher conference with my 8 year old son. He'd written "Chuck Norris" as the answer for every question on his test. FML
Today, my son's teacher asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He put down "unemployed". FML
Today, my son came home from school with a catastrophically bad report card. When I asked him for an explanation, he replied, "I'm hesitating between 'family environment' and 'heredity'." FML
Today, I got a call from my 8-year-old's 3rd grade teacher. Apparently a question went around class asking, "Why do you think you were put on this Earth?", and my son answered, "My dad says it's because I swam the fastest." FML
Today, I got a call from my son’s teacher, saying that he raised his hand during a test to say he "couldn't focus, because the ‘metroids’ are harassing me.” Apparently, he forgot about the test and took a healthy dose of shrooms right before. FML
Today, I had the mother of a five year old come in for parent teacher conferences. When I told her that her son was very smart, but he often made up fantastical stories about his home life, she burst into tears. She then ran out of my office crying, "I knew it! I knew he was a sociopath!" FML
Today, I got to take my 10-year-old son to the junior high school at which I teach. When my students questioned him about what I was like at home, he told the entire class: "Well, she farts all the time." FML
Today, I had to tell my teenage son that no, his knowledge of the English language was not passed down to him genetically. FML
Today, I was taking a biology final and was just randomly tapping my pencil. My teacher thought I was somehow communicating with the person next to me, and decided to fail me. FML
Today, I got an angry call from my 7-year-old son's school. It turned out that while doing a "what I want to be when I'm older" assignment, he wrote that he wants to be an internet troll so he can make people mad and make them kill themselves. FML

In a way, I agree with your son on that one. If it was a class discussion, I think that admitting you don’t know is better than bullshitting. But on a test it was some kind of discussion question designed to either test the student’s thinking abilities or their ability to parrot back the answer the teacher or the book said. In this case, it was a “failure to communicate” moment (movie “Cool Hand Luke”). Frankly I think the teacher failed this one.

If my kid said that, I would laugh and give him props, then tell him to answer seriously as well

no the issue is how he answered it. sure you don't know what they'd do, but what's your best educated guess? why don't you think you can predict what will happen? what factors make it hard to predict? his answer was rude and deserves an F

I have to agree to disagree with you on this one.

his answer wasn't "rude", it was honest. no one can predict what a government will look like in a years time, let alone 10 years down the road.

In general, the more detailed your instructions, the less likely you'll get an answer like this--and that goes for adults, too.
