Good question
Today, I overheard my mom talking to a friend on the phone. What caught my attention was when she said, "You ever look at your kid and just think... 'Fuck. Where'd I go wrong?'" FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my mother looked me dead in the face and said, "I have failed as a parent." FML
Today, I was in the car with my mom. We were discussing my brother, how he's been screwing up majorly lately and she blamed it on his friends. Then she turned to me and said, "It's a good thing you've never had any friends." FML
Today, in front of the entire family, I yelled at my mom and told her she wasn't a good parent. She responded with, "Well, at least I had friends when I was your age." FML
Today, I was feeling depressed. I overheard my mom crying on the phone. She said, “If my daughter kills herself, who’s going to do the dishes?” FML
Today, once again, my mom ranted about how she sacrificed so much for me by moving to a better city. I said it was for my education and to stop making me feel like a burden. She scoffed, "Right, you never should've been born. My mistake." FML
Today, my mom got drunk and started crying, ranting about all the things she could have done in life if I hadn't been born. FML
Today, I was comforting my friend who has a toxic relationship with her Mom. She said, "If I'm such a failure, they always make it known that I can't live up to their expectations." It caught me a bit off guard when she said, "I wish she would just leave me alone and leave my life just like your mom did." FML
Today, my mom came home heavily drunk. As I was taking care of her, she told me all about how I was a mistake. That didn't hurt nearly as much as when she told me she wishes I'd died during her pregnancy. FML
Today, I overheard my mother-in-law and sister-in-law over the baby monitor. They were talking about how much better off my daughter would be if I were to die. FML
Today, I got back home from work and casually asked my dad, "What's up?" He casually replied, "Wishing I'd had a son instead." and stared glassy-eyed at me until I left the room. FML

Just like how not all kids appreciate their parents, not all parents appreciate their kids. Sorry about that OP.

If your Username shows how you actually are to your mom, ydi!

Agreed, #1. That flippant and ultimately harmless username was completely unprovoked! It would be one thing if it was posted on an anecdote in which the OP's mom said something hurtful, but this came from nowhere! Wait…

I think the "only child" part is to clarify that OP's mother could not have been talking about a sibling.

You think so?

Probably at the point in her life when she decided she could say things like this about her kid.

maybe try being nicer to your mother? get her stuff for mother's day, cook hey breakfast, massages, etc.
Innately 6
never give my mom massages and she doesn't say that about me or my siblings

And I don't think bribing your mom with all that to change her mind is the right way to go about things.

It's nice to do things for toe mother, but you're not her servant. You shouldn't have to wait on her hand and foot just to have motherly love.

#3, that's flipping hilarious!!! I literally laughed out loud when I read your post; it was genius! I love how you started off with a typical response from our fellow FMLers then BLA-BLAM!!! insert the I'm-so-creepy factor!!! What totally surprises me is that more people didn't take you seriously and post more comments publicly shaming you with righteous indignation. I salute you, sir.

No where.

#4, if you are going to correct someone's spelling, you may want to verify that the word you are correcting is indeed actually wrong. Nowhere is absolutely a word & yes ma'am, it is spelled correctly. May I point you to another website & give you unsolicited advice, which flows so freely on FML? m-w.com (as in Merriam-Webster) is a great resource. Perhaps you will want to reference it prior to your next attempt at public shaming based on the use of the English language.

It is considered more proper to use the word 'and' instead of an ampersand in the English language, my dear sir.
Krystal3408 32
I'm not sure who you think I'm correcting, but I can assure you it's no one. You just wasted your time typing up a smartass comment. Maybe next time use your critical thinking skills to recognize that nowhere in the FML or any of the comments prior to me is this word used.

You are absolutely correct. However, would you agree that, in certain circumstances, the symbol might be considered appropriate? For instance, when used during informal exchange on an app or website whose acronym is FML or if there are space/character limitations, the ampersand might not only be appropriate, but perhaps even preferred. Great. Now my head hurts. I was told that there would be no math today. Patrón, anyone?

You did it! The word is indeed "nowhere" and you spelled it correctly...in a sentence! See? I DIDN'T waste my time because somebody learned something tonight and I get to take ALL THE CREDIT! I can go to bed feeling like I accomplished something today, all because of you. I am so awesome. I should've been an English Professor. Don't you agree? You did a great job using YOUR critical thinking skills to deduce the fact that I am indeed a smart ass. Unfortunately, you do need to do a little more work on your reading retention skills. I have to point out that #9 (Tripartita, I'm a fan) did use the word nowhere.

I'm sorry but y'all are grammar nazi's. It's some times best to keep your mouth or in this case text bar closed.
Krystal3408 32
I am comment #4 and the person you are pointing out is comment #9. Great deductions, but again, wasted time. Stumped yet?

Plan of action: you gotta bring it to the extreme real fast. "Well at least I don't do drugs and **** bitches or murder people mom!!" Gets me every time
Queenfaria 12
Oh yeah .. You're really doing your mom the favour by staying away from all those things aren't you. Jeez

"Well at least I don't **** bitches" = "I'm a virgin"

Maybe you should talk to her about it. It works with my mom
MamaChey 24
Great advice!!! The conversation can start off with something like, "Mom, I was eavesdropping on your private conversation..."

It was probably when you let me run with a lollipop in my mouth MOM

This is why I always have a cake prepared in the freezer. If I ever overhear anybody complaining about me, I can quickly decorate it and pretend to accidentally interrupt the conversation to proudly, and generously present the cake. Their reluctant appreciation is fantastic.
