Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my 3-year-old daughter asked me to carry her from the car to the house. I asked her for 3 kisses and a hug in return. She said she'd rather walk instead. FML
Today, my two year old daughter did not want to leave the toy store, when I picked her up she started screaming at the top of her lungs, "YOU'RE NOT MY DADDY!". FML
Today, as I was getting ready for church, I couldn't decide between my black or white shoes. I put one of each on, then my son started crying. Fast forward, I'm at church, I look down and I'm wearing one white shoe and one black shoe. FML
Today, my daughter spent three hours crying and having a temper tantrum over being forced to have a bath after four days without one. My daughter is 16. FML
Today, my 6-year-old daughter threw a tantrum in the middle of a store, all because I wouldn't buy her a pushup bra. FML
Today, yet again, my 3 year-old daughter came home from a few hours with her father, screams and cries over everything, and when she realizes it won't get her anywhere, screams at me that she hates me and that she wants to go home. I calmly told her she is home, and she screamed, "This is not home!" FML
Today, after having bought my daughter a complete set of new school clothes, she threw a tantrum and refused to wear them. I told her she could either wear them, or go to school naked. She made if half-way down the street in the nude before I caught up and dragged her back inside. FML
Today, my five-year-old daughter came home from school. It's cold and she was very tired. I said, "Take off your socks and blow your nose." She took off her socks and blew her nose into them. FML
Today, in an attempt to potty train my 2-year-old, I sat her on the toilet and waited for several minutes. I finally gave up and lifted her off the toilet just in time for her to pee on my new shoes. FML
Today, my daughter's school called to inform me that I needed to bring her some sneakers. Not feeling like driving the 15 minutes to her school, I told them I was away from town. Then I realized I was on my house phone. FML

Put black shoes on her, then take them off. Tickle the bottom of her feet so she can see the black shoes are off. Ask her what shoes she'd like to wear and ask her for help putting them on so she has "control" and is aware of what she is wearing. Also, if not recognizing reality is a common problem for her, make an appointment with her pediatrician.

Put some black shoes on her, and then take them off. That way, she’ll get what she wanted.

It’s not just toddlers. I’m watching a 10 year old while his parents are out of town, and he told me that his 12 year old brother claims to be hitting puberty, but the 10 year old doesn’t believe him cuz the 12 year old “isn’t getting bigger, if you know what I mean.”

Walk away. Most kids stop performing when there is no audience...

Dear Parents; THIS is a sign of "your child is (over)tired and needs a nap". Please do the PARENT thing and create structure for your kids and have set nap times (even if they "tantrum" to not go to bed). Otherwise you have a crying 3 year-old wanting to take off shoes she doesn't have on..... parenting. There's books. Go read one or two before spreading open those legs.

Better yet... think before you speak.

My 2 year old does stuff like this too. Tired or not. Toddlers are like tiny drunk adults who do silly things. You’re just an asshole, without children, who thinks they know everything about parenting.
