Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, at age eighteen, I finished moving out of my parents' house and into my own. The only person to even remotely give a shit was my sister, and that was only because I was taking the cat with me. FML
Today, my mom let it slip that she was divorcing my dad. After making me promise to keep it from him and my little sisters, she had me help her with her plans to renovate the house. She intends to kick him out once it's done. FML
Today, our youngest child finally moved out of our house. I went to embrace my wife and say something romantic about us growing old together, but she said, "Thank God they're gone, I can finally leave you." An hour later, she was gone too. FML
Today, I found out that the day I moved out of my parents' house, they invited my whole family over and had a party to celebrate the fact that I was gone. FML
Today, I visited my dad. He gave the, "You live under my roof, you follow my rules" lecture since I didn't do my "chores". I moved out 3 years ago. FML
Today, I moved back with my mom, sister and niece after 10 years on my own. My niece is 11, we talked about life and she agrees my mom and my sister are toxic and that I should move out. She'll do it as soon as she's 18. I'm 29. FML
Today, I was helping my dad move into his new house. It's a 4-bedroom house and he has three kids so it's perfect. I was wandering around and noticed that the first bedroom is his, the second is my older brother's, the third is my younger sister's, and the fourth is an office. I have no room. FML
Today, after returning from taking my sister off to college, my parents told me that our house would be a lot quieter with my sister gone. Not because she's loud, but because she has friends and I apparently don't. FML
Today, I realized I can't wait until my daughter moves out the house when she is 18. She's eight. FML
Today, I decided it was time to start looking for my own place and finally gain my full independence. My mom agreed happily without hesitation, which was surprising, but not anywhere near as surprising as finding out I have one day to get my shit together and leave. FML

maybe your dad is happy you're taking the next big step to adulthood, either way, you have the chance to create your own happiness :) good luck out there

Could you have done something that could have made them feel this way?

I don't know what you could do to deserve that

It's kinda like when my sister moved out, we were kinda sad and kinda happy because she was really bossy and lazy. We forgot about how bad it was until she moved back in for awhile. It's been 2 weeks and she's already complaining constantly about having to do chores and has said she regrets moving back in.

My bro never gets anything done at our house so I think when he moves my parents will be happy

What a supportive family you have. At least you're moving away from them. FYL

Karma will make them miss you ;)

They may just be pretending that they're happy to make it easier on them. Once you're gone, I'm sure they'll realize they actually miss you.

Nah, some people are genuinely difficult to live with. Wouldn't be surprised if OP is one of them.

Maybe they just want the extra room, it might not have anything to do with you

You are moving away from people who don't appreciate you. Congratulations are in order!

What about your mother?
