Today, I got a call at 4 in the morning from the security company, saying someone had broken into my workplace. I drove an hour out there, only to find out it was a rat that had set off the alarm. FML

Ratatouille
Today, after my house almost got broken into last week, when I heard some noises in the kitchen I went to investigate. I saw a huge rat run across my floor, and nearly peed myself thinking it was an intruder. FML
Working too hard!
Today, after spending 6 hours straight working on a project at school, I decided to call it a night. The instant I set foot out of the lab, the building started screaming. The maintenance guy had set the alarm without telling me. The police had to let me out. FML
LM308 fried
Today, I finally found out what the horrible smell at work was. A rat had decided to make its home in our emergency exit sign and had been fried by the electricity. I now have to fix this. Hello scorched dead rat. FML
Today, I woke up to find my car broken into. After being upset for not hearing my car alarm go off I realized it had in the middle of the night. I had woken up and cursed the idiot who set off their alarm and put a pillow over my head, falling back to sleep shortly after. FML
Today, my first day on the job, I locked up the office after everyone left and set the alarm. An hour later, my new boss angrily emailed me that I locked him inside the building, setting off the alarm and prompting the entire police department to show up. FML
Goodbye Rémy…
Today, I was laying in bed when my sister came running in, scared. I took my bat and went into the kitchen where the suspicious noise was coming from. It was a rat, right in the middle of the floor. I jumped on the counter and shrieked, just as my girlfriend walked in, who then actually dealt with it. FML
Today, I found out the animal that was gnawing behind the kitchen wall all night was indeed a wild rat and his entire family. FML
Today, I fractured my finger setting up a rat trap. FML
Today, I was awoken at 1:30 a.m. by a strange noise, and something tugging on my hair. I opened my eyes, to find a very large rat sitting on my pillow, chewing my hair. FML
Bad day
Today, I accidentally set off an alarm at the school I work for. No one was there, I didn't have the code or password the company needed, my boss wouldn't answer his phone, three policemen interrogated me and asked for ID, but realized I left home without my wallet. There was nothing I could do. I cried. FML

Maybe the rat belonged to a rival company which they raised and trained so it can spy on you. Be very careful OP.

This is no small problem. If you have politicians in your workplace then there must be an unsecured source of money on the premises. Make sure to lay out some traps.

I'm sure you can change the setting to where little things like that don't set it off

You're probably right. Maybe OP could learn some kaRATe to defend themselves.

I need to know your workplace's address, OP. If it takes a hour for someone to arrive after the alarm has been set off, then I'm in for some nighttime activity.

Seriously. I thought most security companies called the police for you after establishing there was a break in, not have what I assume to be the proprietor, take an hour car ride to get to the scene. Might be time to switch security companies or just invest in an array of booby traps.

Maybe OP should lay trip wires everywhere causing a mass release of Koffings which they then proceed to use smokescreen

#20, many police departments will fine you if you have too many false alarms. A better security company will investigate for you and call police if necessary. A few more of those 2 hour drives and you'll be hiring a new security company to do the rat patrols.

Looks like you got into a game of mouse trap but ended up in a rat trap, maybe try a sensor that can distinguish between sizes next time.

Perhaps a little too well.

Why driving to your company, when you have to drive one hour?

Sometimes motion sensors are great...some you can pick the weight for the alarm to go of at...try that...
shupwhup 18
Motion sensors can't detect weight.

A rat beats a crazy psychopath any day.

I'm just imagining a psycho from borderlands getting it's ass beat by a giant rat. Thanks for the image. It's quite entertaining.

11 - I completely agree. I'd rather deal with rats than a burglar. The former tend to be less dangerous.

just be thankful it was just only a rat
