You probably should have obeyed Traffic laws than worry about petty things. You could have hurt someone.

That is a fucked up idea of causality. You got a ticket because you failed to obey the law, the highlighters had nothing to do with it.

Maybe you should stop at stop signs? It's not like you needed the highlighters to save a life or something.
Today, I went to fmylife.com to read about other people's screwed up lives only to find that half of the stories were fake and the other half people doing highly stupid things trying to get sympathy from internet strangers. FML

Next time, just use the damn blue highlighter! The words will still show. You are not gonna die from lack of yellow highlighter.
In Jersey I got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign and it was only $80 so that sucks, but still, just use the blue highlighter.
If you prefer yellow highlighters over blue, then why wouldn't you keep a yellow one at your house, and why would you even have a blue one in the first place.
It's not the highlighters fault you ran a stop sign. It's yours. You running the stop sign has nothing to do with the highlights. That's just you being a careless drive.
Today, my roommate was playing 80's music, which pisses me off. So I killed him. Now I'm going up against murder charges. So, basically, I'm going to jail because I don't like 80's music. FML
moron.
@10...lmao! thaats AWESOME. LOL. these externalizing people never get old. lol
You shouldn't even have drivers license! You failed to stop at 2!!! Stop signs. How did you get your license in a first place? The test didn't involve any road signs?
well, that was lame.

$200 is pretty steep for not stopping at a stop light. If this is true, it seems like you did some other things you tactfully omitted.
no, you got $200 tickets because you prefer to make your own laws
not only is it a giant red sign, it says STOP
you definitely deserved this one
its people like you that cause accidents and kill innocent people
learn to drive, asshole
yeah and all of the people complaining have never broken a single traffic rule in their lives, for sure. honestly. maybe the road was perfectly clear and no other car in sight, so not stopping made sense. we can't know, so maybe fyl, maybe ydi
#16
What difference does it make if there was no other car on the road? You still have to stop at a stop sign regardless.
And OP, I feel bad for you that you have to pay such a hefty fine, but perhaps next time when you see a giant red sign that says STOP, you'll actually stop.
Okay... maybe I'm just missing the point, but I think you deserved that simply because you thought it would be a good idea to:
1) stop studying
2) get into your car
3) waste gas
4) go to the store just to buy a highlighter
5) run a stop sign
instead of just using the damn blue highlighter.
Wow... and you're probably gonna fail your next test too because you'll be in court for the ticket.
Hope it was worth it.
i don't believe in getting any sort of driving-related-ticket you don't deserve. your fault. nothing f'ed up about that. and haha at #5. so true.
Highlighters = 1 You = 0. How does that make you feel? I'd feel like a drain on society. Maybe that's just me.
#20 - On 03/12/2009 at 10:15am by RHK
Nice, running that light MIGHT have been the problem, you brought this upon yourself
#21 - On 03/12/2009 at 10:29am by CaptainObvious
NO.
you got that because you didn't stopped.
WTF, why do people who break the law think it's f their life?
You're an idiot for not stopping. This one is well deserved.
#10 made me LOL
I agree with everyone else though, it is YOUR fault not the highlighters.
Soooo if the store had no highlighters, who would be responsible then? Surely not you, by your logic. I am interested to know who would be though.
HAHaAHHAHAHAHHA stupid bitch stop next time
@24: According to the OP's self-victimizing "interpretation" of causality, the store wouldn't have yellow highlighters because s/he needed them for the test.
The only way the yellow highlighter caused you to get a ticket is if it tied you up, shoved you in the trunk, and then took your car for a joyride.
I'm going to assume it didn't.
Next time maybe you'll stop at stop signs.
You paid $200 because you drive like a jackass.
A) it doesnt matter where you were going or what you why if you run a stop sign when a cop is insight. not really a FML imo.
B) $200 for running a stop sign? i doubt it.
C) thats why you always obey the law.
why were you studying for a final in the middle of march?
and if a cop is there to ticket you... the road definitely wasn't empty. yeah, it sucks, but it's not like you didn't play a role in the situation.
Preferring a yellow highlighter over a blue one has nothing to do with you being too stupid to obey traffic laws. Fail.
was it an obvious stop sign or one of those partially hidden bastard ones? We have one of those in our town and a cop who seriously waits for people to not see it so he can ticket them. If it was one of those, I can see it. If it was on a cleared street corner, then you fail.
#34 - On 03/12/2009 at 1:51pm by alwaysalady
#31 there are a bunch of schools that have finals in march
its because they have trimesters.
#16...Clearly the road was NOT perfectly clear if they got caught. Add in bonus retard points for running it in front of a law enforcement official.
You spent $200 because you prefer not obeying traffic laws to acting responsibly. Color preferance had nothing to do with it.
That's what you get for procrastinating.
u spent $200 on a traffic ticket not a highlighter dumbass
#39 - On 03/12/2009 at 3:19pm by heathpek
Yellow Highlighter- $3.00
Ticket for running a stop sign- $200
Laughing at someone elses expense becuase they were a complete idiot and decided not to obey the rules of the road and not read the big red sign that said STOP- PRICELESS!
#2 is absolutely spot on.
there's nothing wrong with preferring yellow highlighters. not obeying traffic laws on the other hand...
blue highlighters S U C K. So it was totally worth it.
ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FAIL.
Agreed with #2. It has nothing to do with your highlighter preference. Seriously. Fail.

Wow, everyone, relax. Just say "you deserve what you get for being so irresponsible." No need to take out your various frustrations on Noname. (no, I'm not a shrink or a hippie, I'm 16. It just annoys me when people say things to others online that they would never say to them in person. You don't say those things because it's disrespectful). Noname paid $200 for running a stop sign. That was the punishment, and s/he doesn't need you badmouthing him/her. Come on, people!
What a stupid man this person is. Orange is a far superior highlighter shade.
okay umm u have a lot of posts......... soooooo either your lying or your life is screwed!
#48
noname is what is entered when the person doesn't enter a nickname when posting o.O
No, you spent $200 because you chose not to obey traffic laws.
#46:
1. I can say what I want.
2. The OP WAS irresponsible, and put lives in danger.
3. I'm not taking my frustrations out; actually, I'm enjoying myself.
4. I WOULD say that in person. The OP was irresponsible and earned what they got.
5. Yes, under normal circumstances, it is disrespectful. This time, however, the OP came whining to US. We didn't ask for his/her day, their problem, their issue. They posted it willingly. Or maybe the highlighter made them do it. Either way, it's not in this case. Come whining to me in real life, and I'll show you how respectful I am.
6. Thanks for reiterating the punishment for us.
7. S/He doesn't NEED us badmouthing him/her, but this person did put themselves up on the internet for us to see, again, out of their own free will. But wait, what if, just what if, this person was a person that wants attention, and wants to be noticed on the internet? And you're telling us to leave them alone...Maybe you're the villain here.
8. I will not "come on." Makes you sound more like a hippie.
9. I hope I have proven my point about what I do to whiners by breaking down your personal whinefest.

blue highlighters suck. I freaking hate them. if i ever have to borrow one i specifically ask to borrow one that is not blue. FYL.
I would be so pissed if you ran me over on my bike because you needed a yellow highlighter. Please be safe!!!
you know, the whole point of no cop no stop is that you actually stop if there is a cop
Dumb... although studies have shown that the color yellow helps a lot better with memory... oh well
Youdidn't pay $200 because you prefer yellow highlighters to blue, you paid $200 because you don't know how to drive.
Your reckless driving was not in any way caused by the highlighter.
#51, you made me laugh! and you're right, when you put stuff on the internet prepare to be judged.
No.... you spent 200 dollars cuz your retarded.... you woulda run into a stop sign eventually no matter what color highlighter u had
...you should try obeying driving laws instead of blaming inanimate objects such as highlighters for your own stupid mistakes. I highly doubt the highlighter is responsible for your foot not being on the brake...
A stop sign is not a suggestion.
LMAO. sue the cops and say u have OCD xD
Nooooooooo...
You got a ticket because you're a dumb bitch and didn't stop at the frakkin stop sign,
it had absolutely nothing to do with you preference of color you racist dumbass.
Obey the damn law and you won't get tickets.
Dear genius,
You did not pay $200 for a hilighter. You paid $200 for recklessy endangering lives. You didn't only put your own dumb ass in harm's way, but anyone else's who may have happened by. When you can rise above the laws of physics, feel free to ignore traffic controls. Until then, you should know that the last person who had an accident with me because they were too "important" to follow the rules was uninjured by the accident but not so lucky in the aftermath.
I heard that blue highlighters are actually the best color to help you remember what you highlight.
no you spent $200 because you didn't stop at a stop sign
You probably should have stopped at the stop sign. Who goes out to the store to buy another highlighter just because they don't like the colour of the one they have, anyway? Waste of gas. Thanks for killing my planet (not to mention wasting your own money on such a pointless trip).
No you spent $200 for failing to stop. Next time be more patient.
#13 - He said he ran a stop sign, not a stop light. Just pointing it out. Idk which one fines more.
you paid $200 for not obeying the law...this isn't a FML
"So, I basically spent $200 because I prefer yellow highlighters over blue. FML"
No, you spent $200 because you're an idiot who probably shouldn't be driving.
No, you got a traffic ticket for not obeying the stop sign. YDI so hard.
No, you basically spent $200 because you did not stop at a stop sign.
No, u spent $200 because you're not contented with wat you already have and u can't drive
dumbass!
tommie:
The word is "content", dumbass.
lol @ #10 and #27 :DD
#78 - On 05/28/2009 at 9:27am by Asdas
uhm YDI for not following the rules, and giving a flying peice of shit what color your highlighter is!! Blue's great :P
YDI for two reasons:
1. You actually care what color your highlighter is, enough to drive to the store and buy another one.
2. You don't stop at stop signs. You're going to kill someone/get killed!
No, you spent $200 because you're a fucking dumbass.
$200 worth of traffic tickets* for running ONE stop sign?
*Keyword: tickets
Plural. With an "s".
What else did you get ticketed for?
