Today, I walked into Best Buy to buy a 42" widescreen TV I'd been saving up for many months. As I walked in, a man stopped me and handed me my wallet that I'd accidentally dropped. I thanked him. Five minutes later at the checkout, I opened up my wallet to realize it was empty. He had stolen everything. FML

Today, I helped a "blind" man across the street. He kindly said thank you and patted me on the back. Then, I went into a store and realized my wallet was missing. FML

Today, I had gone to the store and bought a new wallet. 5 minutes later a security guard asks for my receipt. Turns out I had dropped my receipt. Some guy had picked it up and pretended I had stole his wallet. The guard confiscated my wallet because the guy had "his" receipt to prove it. FML

Today, I went to the store, but after I'd selected my items, I saw that I'd forgotten my wallet. When I tried to explain to the cashier, he thought that I was trying to steal and called the cops. My roommate had to come to the store to save me. FML

Today, I went to the store to buy some groceries. Several hours later I realize that I can't find my wallet. After looking all over my house and then the store parking lot, I had my credit cards cancelled. On the drive home, I feel something under me. It was my wallet. FML

Today, I was shopping with my husband. At the self-checkout, one of the items I was buying for him as a gift didn’t register. As we were walking out, I get stopped and escorted to the loss prevention office, where I was accused of stealing. FML

Today, while at the mall, a lady dropped her credit card while in line to buy something. I came over, picked it up and gave it to her just for her to shove it in my hand and scream, "She's stealing my wallet! My wallet!" The police came. FML

Today, a couple came into the gas station where I work to ask for directions. While I was giving the woman directions (and even writing them down to be as helpful as possible), the man stole my wallet out of my purse that was sitting on the other end of the counter behind a display. FML

Today, at the supermarket, a man collapsed. I gave CPR while the cashier called for help. During this, the other patrons were complaining that no other register was open. Once the ambulance arrived, I returned to my cart to find items removed and 40 dollars taken from my purse. FML

Today, I was walking down the street, when a little old lady bumped into me and fell over. I helped her up and she thanked me for being "such a nice young man". It was only an hour later as I was in line at the store that I realized she'd pickpocketed my wallet. FML

Today, I was holding on to a shirt that I planned on buying, when an elderly man bumped into me. The shirt fell out of my hand, and slid just out the door. I went to the counter to explain what happened. Everyone accused me of trying to steal it anyway. FML

Didn't know debit cards were a debt. Also using a credit card is good, simply purchase with the credit card and transfer the cash over and pay it off immediately. Builds your credit score and you pay no more than the cost of the purchase...

Because wallets normally have people's names and pictures on them right? How's this supposed good person gonna know it's OP's wallet without some identification? Unless they assumed. "Is this your wallet" would be the quote then. I'm pretty sure the guy who gave OP it stole it. But OP deserves it for not checking it. When your wallet falls things can also fall out.

Ryan...um, last time I checked, yes wallets have ID, normally a license with their picture and address. In my experience with dealing with criminals (as a job), people that steal your stuff, are normally not the ones to return the wallet/stuff. This is because most people would check the wallet and find the money missing, then call the police.

#132 If OP dropped the wallet and the person who found it knew it was her wallet, chances are he really did steal her stuff. Your suggestion that someone else took her cards doesn't make sense. If that was true, OP would have dropped her wallet, Person 1 (the thief) picked it up, emptied it, and then dropped it again, and person 2 (the nice guy) saw it lying there and returned it to her. If Person 2 saw Person 1 doing this, they would have tried to stop them or call the police or tell OP or SOMETHING. If person 1 somehow had enough time to disappear by the time person 2 came along, OP should be long gone too and there's no way person 2 would see a wallet lying there and know who it belonged to. So yes, the only explanation that makes sense is the person who found the wallet and knew immediately who its owner was, was also the one who stole the money.
