Today, my parents, who are out of town but driving back tomorrow, called to see how I was doing. While they were gone I threw a party, but when asked I told them no, to which my dad responded " Well I'm currently looking at pictures on facebook of our kitchen with beer and a bong on the table." #4 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:08am by latuka

Put them on a block list so they can't see pictures of you. Next time you have a party, check cameras at the door because pictures are just generally a bad idea.

#5 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:13am by guinness

You know... you can Choose who can see your pictures on Facebook. Just sayin'.

#6 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:14am by ChaosZirconia

Well truth be told don't lie to your parents if you want them to have any of their respect or trust. Also remember if you are in the USA or Canada that if something goes wrong its their ass that goes to jail even if they aren't there.

#7 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:15am by KorbenDeck

That's why I don't use facebook anymore. Actually when I think about it, I don't have any friends now either. FML

#8 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:21am by btopishere

When are people going to realize parents generally aren't stupid? I'm betting even if your parents didn't see the facebook pictures, they'd find out; parents did well before facebook and the internet was around. You just gave them an easier way to do it, with evidence, and props to them. What do you need pictures of that shit for anyway?

You deserved that shit, son. God damn.

#9 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:23am by Minstrels

Well that's what you get when you smoke weed at a young age. Stupid children who can't even put up blocks on their facebook pictures.
Being bested by your parents on a technological level is just embarrassing. I hope you take this as a lesson to not do drugs or drink.. They will make you even stupider than you currently are.

It could have been a seen on their siblings facebook, or the OP might have been dumb enough to friend their parents.

If it was on your siblings and they ratted you out, unfriend them, and in their sleep cut their face.

If it was on your parent...then you deserved it and more.

#16 - On 03/19/2009 at 8:41am by kimmylou

Seriously? If you were dumb enough to allow pictures of you engaging in illegal activity to be displayed on the internet, then you deserve what you got.

#17 - On 03/19/2009 at 8:41am by mylifesucks_alot

Parties+Facebook are not to be mixed... you deserved this one

#18 - On 03/19/2009 at 8:55am by mtrem225

yeah, thats why parents SHOULDNT have facebook lol

#19 - On 03/19/2009 at 9:01am by yankeesfan130225

If you have a Facebook account you should know NOT to put party pictures up and make sure your friends don't either. My parents have Facebook accounts too and I set the privacy settings so that they won't see the pictures tagged of me. And when my friends tag me I always untag myself.

#20 - On 03/19/2009 at 9:12am by dvl11

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. Damn parents and facebook.

#21 - On 03/19/2009 at 9:26am by CodyGuitarist

Evreryone's on facebook, deal with it! When you put pics on it, you got to assume that most of the people will be able to see them a way or another.

#25 - On 03/19/2009 at 9:57am by BootsMegamix

When confronted with incriminating photos, the correct response is: Photoshop.

#33 - On 03/19/2009 at 11:31am by jojo1031

This is a beginner's mistake.

1. NEVER accept a parent's friend invitation on Facebook.
a. Make sure photos are set to be viewed by 'friends only.'

2. Make a separate account for family.

3. Don't post incriminating photos online if there's even the slightest chance they would be seen and used against you.

But I agree with #33. Tell your parents it was a prank to catch them on your Facebook profile, and act triumphant that it worked. "Clearly, this was all Photoshop'd..."

#34 - On 03/19/2009 at 11:46am by Amkii

how can you do something like that?! hasnt anyone learned of the curse that is FACEBOOK? when i got married it took only a day before all the people i didnt want finding out were sending me congratulatory messages.

#35 - On 03/19/2009 at 12:06pm by amkoverboard

If you throw a party, take pictures, post them on facebook, and don't put a privacy block on them, you deserve everything that happens afterward.

#36 - On 03/19/2009 at 12:15pm by TheSkaAssassin

#29: So the kid's parents were Facebook-stalking his/her friends looking for pictures like that? If your parents are that paranoid, you deserved it.

#37 - On 03/19/2009 at 12:17pm by StopWhiningPpl

didn't you learn by now to put your parents on limited profile? @ #34, you don't need to make a seperate account...you can block so many things people can see...

#38 - On 03/19/2009 at 12:28pm by sucka_free

Your Dad is the Man! muahahaha

#39 - On 03/19/2009 at 12:59pm by thebigO

#29 makes a good point.

Taking pictures of potentially illegal activity is perfectly acceptable as long as they aren't on your facebook. I mean, your parents can't do anything about it if it's on someone else's facebook!

No...

Wait...

Hold on...

They still deserved it. There's a reason they call it "Dope" and not "smart" ...People are stupid.

#40 - On 03/19/2009 at 1:12pm by sbsully

yeah, same thing happened to me. my parents don't have a facebook so i thought i would be safe, but my brother, (who is only a year older than me and i usually get along with super well), thought it would be really cool to show them the pictures my friend posted. i have since told all my friends to delete him, and he can only see my limited profile.

#41 - On 03/19/2009 at 1:14pm by lostinthought

You could have avoided this pretty easily if you weren't so stupid. First, you could try not lying or throwing parties in houses that don't belong to you. Second, you could do what everyone else has said about blocking who sees your pictures. Of course, if they were someone else's pictures, there's no way you could have avoided that, but if you and your parents have mutual friends on facebook, then you should have guessed that they would probably find out about your party. In fact, pictures aside, it's usually pretty easy to tell. The fact that you thought that they were as dumb as you are just compounds your stupidity here.

#42 - On 03/19/2009 at 1:42pm by kellster

that's why my parents aren't friends with myself or my friends. I don't need pictures of my friends and I going out on their newsfeed or having them facebook creep me.

#54 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:16pm by StupidDancer

Everybody's on Facebook now, even 80-plus-year-olds I know. And they're all connected somehow -- you can't wall your parents off.

Hell, I'm older than most of your parents, and I have 400+ friends on Facebook, mostly unsolicited contacts already known from offline life.

Go ahead and lie to your parents about private sexual matters -- I did, decades ago -- but don't lie about using their house for a party.

#55 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:18pm by streetpattern

#5 is absolutely right, take up cameras.

#56 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:23pm by dickinabox

why would you put up pictures or allow them to be put on facebook if you knew your parents had one?

#57 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:23pm by hunkydory51

Next time, ask yourself, would I be ok with this picture on the front page of a magazine or newspaper? If the answer is no, don't put it on Facebook.

People just get more and more stupid over time. We're screwed!

#58 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:29pm by zandar

if your parents are on fb, dont let them see your profile and definitely not your friends. you dont control what your friends put up and theyre not thinking about your parents when they put up their pictures. if you just ask them once to not be friends with them, or to put them on limited, then youre okay. but theyre not going to remember everytime, so just nip it in the bud from the beginning.

#59 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:44pm by shehzeenahmed

I did this once and it ended with a picture of my ex-girlfriends boobs going around. And my parents got the picture too.

#60 - On 03/19/2009 at 4:53pm by mailboxbilly

Wow you are stupid, why would you put such pictures on facebook, it's like "look at this, i'm breaking the law lol"

#63 - On 03/19/2009 at 6:09pm by DaftPyramid

And thats why puting your life on facebook is a bad idea. Try running for some elected office later in life and watch those bastards bring up those photos. Facebook now owns all your photos you put up btw.

#64 - On 03/19/2009 at 6:39pm by foehawk

That's why you make your facebook page private. I agree with #2. That was a rookie mistake. You deserved it.

remember a similar story w/ a senior in H.S. who ended up being suspended from his senior year of basketball b/c they found pics of him drinking at a party on facebook. this stupidity makes me smile. when will kids realize that if they take pictures people will find out. nieve retards like this make my day.

haha shouldnt have had the party in the first place, but hey i understand if my parents went out of town for a night, id probably have a party too not gonna lie !! but beers and bongs just take it way outta hand.. especially with pictures..AND adding them to facebook
stupid stupid stupid

EPIC LMAO!

Dad ftw!

#70 - On 03/19/2009 at 7:40pm by xpapercutsx

The best way to avoid getting caught is to avoid putting up incriminating photos in the first place, and making sure that nobody else does either. Even if you put up a limited profile, there's still the chance that some idiot will post pictures of the party. What's worse, the kinds of people that decide to post every picture from every party they've been to probably either have a public profile or accept everyone who friends them without a second thought. If you know anyone like this, either take their camera or don't invite them in the first place.

#71 - On 03/19/2009 at 8:38pm by cthulhu1138

i agree that your life sucks (thus i voted that your life is effed), because you can't control what goes on other people's facebooks! i'm assuming that you're not enough of a dipshit to post pictures of your own party on your own page for your parents to see, and it would be impossible to moderate every camera at the party to make sure no one else posts pics on their own page. i'm sorry for your misfortune.

#72 - On 03/19/2009 at 10:14pm by guacala

#72 good call. That is true if it was from another page.

#73 - On 03/19/2009 at 10:36pm by foehawk

#95 - On 03/25/2009 at 9:23am by NoKo

Now see, the problem isn't the party - it's that your understanding of trust networks is fuzzy.

If you can't throw a party without some nitwit posting pictures of it on FaceBook, you don't know and understand the crowd you're hanging out with well enough to trust them. This implies your own judgment may be flawed, and maybe you shouldn't be throwing parties for those people, and should be more responsible about who you do stuff with. At the very least, you have immature friends, who either knowingly did something that could have gotten you all in lots of trouble, or you have friends who will invite such careless people... and you weren't paying enough attention to what was going on to prevent it.

I'm sure that parents often expect that if they go away, their kids will get up to stuff. If you're not going to be honest with your parents about what you do (dishonesty makes it so they can't trust you when they find out), you could at least refrain from being so sloppy that they think that you are an immature twit, or develop the impression that you think they're stupid. None of that makes for good relations with the parents.

I think most kids will do stuff that their parents would tell them not to. It's part of growing up.

When you're responsible enough to be discrete, not get caught, not leave evidence of your shindig, that's at least responsibility, and evidence you can take care of yourself.

When your parents see your friends using a bong on your kitchen table, via the internet, or they find a joint between the couch cushions, or all their liquor is gone and the carpet has vomit in it... or if you turn up pregnant... these are all signs that you haven't learned discretion.
