Man or woman?

Today, I was at the mall and someone peeked their head under the door of my dressing room while I was half dressed. Not knowing who it was, I kicked him in the face just out of instinct. Its was a 4 year old kid looking for his mother. FML

hah this almost happened to me
only the kid was around 6 and was looking on purpose

#8 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:20pm by abclalala123

she never said how hard the kick was. For all we know it was just a light jab.

i don't understand all the people saying that someone should've been watching the kid. his mother was obviously in the dressing room too...how is she supposed to watch him? take him in there and let him have a messed up childhood? and seriously, have NONE of you ever gotten lost in a big department store or something as a kid?

oh, and #25, child abuse? really? give me a break.

and it doesn't really matter how hard the kick was...nobody wants it in the face.

OP, it's not your fault. but god i'd feel awful after that. i hope you hid from his mother.

YDI for using your leg instead of your brain to solve problem in your life.

#106 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:04pm by Sawadee

Um.... YES.
There is nothing wrong with a young child seeing a parent change clothes. Americans are just too fucking repressed. "z0mg, a nipple!" It's not like we don't all have them. Who cares?

Anyhow, a four-year-old will likely not even remember such a mundane event as being in the changing room with his mother, let alone be scarred by it.

Far better alternative than the mother letting the kid run around unsupervised where he could get hurt. Or worse.

out of instinct, i don't think i would kick the person. i think i'd instinctively cover myself up before kicking or yelling or anything else.

#173 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:17am by anonnie

#102- I see where you're coming from, and no it is not child abuse, but the kid could have knocked first. At 4 years of age, the kid should have known better than peeking under dressing rooms. Seriously *_*

"Americans are just too fucking repressed. "z0mg, a nipple!" It's not like we don't all have them. Who cares?"

... (-.-;) (stereotype? yes.) I've been into dressing rooms so many times, I don't know how many, and ALL the mothers take their small children in with them when they're changing. Don't assume all Americans are prude because of ONE FML STORY.

Couldn't agree more.

I've been living in Europe for the past 3 years and it has made me realize just to what crazy extent Americans and Canadians are repressed. Everything makes you a sexual predator, child molester, or gay.

Here it's not uncommon to see people changing at the beach or an outdoor public pool. Nobody cares!

I love North America, but damn it's got some fucking growing up to do.

#192 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:50am by bernk

she didnt even know that it was the kid. now, you can never relax while youre changing.

"Today, I lost my mommy. I looked underneath a door to see if she was there. The lady saw me and kicked me in the face. It wasn't my mommy. FML"

That's just terrible. FYL, because we all know no one can control instinct. Well, from the comments and the FYL/YDI ratio, I guess about 1/8 of us don't know we can't control instinct.

#83 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:24pm by Duckasaurus

I would probably have done a similar thing

#3 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:19pm by tikimuppet

Me too. XD

The people bitching against the OP just don't realize that the kid was lucky he ended up just getting kicked in the face.
First, he learned a valuable life lessong: Knock and call "Mom?" instead of peeping like a moron.
And secondly, he just got kicked in the face: If he'd been wandering farther in the mall, he could have gotten snatched by a pervert, and then it's a billion times worse than being kicked in the face.

The asshole here is the mom, who left her kid alone and went to try on clothes, when she should have taken him with her.

#193 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:57am by Moemoemoe

I wouldn't say I could really blame you though. You didn't know who was peeking, and kicked out of instinct so they wouldn't see you.

instinct is your reaction to things? She didn't react very well because it was actually a little child she kicked under the door and not a peeping tom which is what she thought - so that's a fail. Why would a 4 year old want to see naked women?

#42 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:49pm by xHaniffax

i think the real question is, why would a woman want to see a naked 4 year old child?

#43 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:52pm by mark266

touche, from dictionary.com:
1. an inborn pattern of activity or tendency to action common to a given biological species.
2. a natural or innate impulse, inclination, or tendency.
3. a natural aptitude or gift: an instinct for making money.
4. natural intuitive power.

Therefore she didn't mean to react like that it was an instinct and with someone looking at you naked its normal to feel threatened, therefore kicking little kids in the face

#16 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:24pm by _whatever_77

obviously his mother was changing. how is she supposed to watch him?

but yeah, still not your fault OP. that's just awful though. i can't say i would've done anything different. except i probably would've stepped on his hand instead of kicking him in the face...oh, and covered up first

#97 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:50pm by curryndricegirll

Most mothers I know of take their children (that young) into the room with them instead of leaving them to wander ALONE IN A MALL... The whole "stay next to this door" doesn't work with a four year old, their attention spans are usually null and void.
But, if he didn't know where his mother was... obviously he was on his own. Or, with his father, but if that's the case I doubt he'd be peeking under doors and instead would ask daddy.
BAD MOM.
What 92 said.

And your instinct is fine, what 88 said.

#103 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:58pm by DameGreyWulf

Completely agreed. Why did the mother let her child wander by himself? If you choose to take your young child shopping with you I think you should at least have them stay by you in the dressing room.

Mothers fault not yours.

#36 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:45pm by Squirrellord911

I think that's the wrong instinct to have. Maybe if it was a soft kick it would be ok but I can't imagine being kicked in the face is ever anything less than really painful and could easily break someone's nose! If someone were trying to peep at you they would deserve you screaming, covering up and then alerting security and even having them arrested but kicking them in the face is a bit harsh in my opinion. I understand where you were coming from but I just think it's a bit harsh.

#37 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:46pm by dramakat11

people can't always control their instinct...

#41 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:48pm by commonusername

What an EPIC stupid comment to make #37...

You obviously have never heard of human nature.

It's fight or flight response functioning at its best...and rather than run off or yell out for help like some half wit helpless bitch, she actually decided to fight back!

Granted, hitting a little 4 year old wasn't exactly cool...but in her defense the kid should've been under someone's supervision...like, oh I don't know....his PARENTS maybe? Besides, who the HELL leaves their 4 year old alone in a store?! That's just bad parenting.

Oh, and for everyone that's calling this child abuse...I say the child abuse is comming from the stupid parents themselves....in case no one has ever read a newspaper or watched the news recently, leaving your kid alone to wander around somewhere is considered child abuse as well. Look it up, morons.

#80 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:19pm by Phantom13

it is 100% okay to assault somebody for peeping at you. regardless of age, these dirty bastards must learn

#46 - On 07/29/2009 at 7:58pm by mark266

its called self defence... if someone decides to peep at you in a change room its a violation of your rights as a human being and you can defend those rights if you feel violated... yes its sad that it happened to be a little kid but instincts are instincts... you cant control them.. its like saying ouch when you are hurt.. its just happens... a natural occuring event

#73 - On 07/29/2009 at 8:59pm by amiotica

Look, I understand the desire to assault someone for peeping, but it's not legal. If you assault someone for peeping, you could get arrested for assault. Better just to alert security and have them deal with this person.

#59 - On 07/29/2009 at 8:18pm by AnnieLennox1954

Its not your fault, though i'm trying to picture how the conversation after went.

Crying four year old in the background, mom walks out and asks what happened then looks at you with a look of hatred as she walks out of the store.

Or the mom never came out and your left with a crying 4 year old. But if your half naked you probably dont have shoes on so it couldnt have been that bad..unless you used your toe..O_o

Can't really blame the kid. 4 year old can't think through things and make good judgment calls yet. The mother is the one to blame. A kid that young shouldn't be wandering around alone. They could get in trouble. Or kicked in the face.

#145 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:55pm by newbzoors

I honestly wouldn't though. That's the thing. I'm not being a hypocrite or anything along those lines because I wouldn't kick someone in the face unless they were attacking me. Looking under a stall door doesn't deserve a kick in the face. A scream maybe, and for the person to cover up, but a kick to the face?

#172 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:05am by beaandbunny05

BOOM HEAD SHOT lol this kids going to grow up to be a creeper why woud u stick ur head under the door instead of calling out moom where are you

#79 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:16pm by kurtsee

Gosh I don't know, because the kid was four??

#109 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:12pm by emzmcgee

Sorry... but a 4 yr old should NEVER be on the look out for mom in a public place - especially the mall! I don't know if my first instinct would have been to kick... but I sure would have screamed. Did the mother get mad at you?? cause I would have kicked her too for being a bad parent.

#81 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:21pm by lil_lucy23

Ehm, wouldn't a four year old's face look MUCH different than a man's?

Damn you're violent

#82 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:22pm by I_Am_The_Edge

Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.

I'm very sorry, but you greatly over reacted. In the case that it was a grown man, you could have been charged for kicking him in the face. Instead you could have gone to an authoritative figure and pressed charges on him, hence "The pen is mightier than the sword", meaning fighting back wouldn't have been the best option, and "tattling" much better :). And that poor, poor child!!! This makes me cringe 0.o. But you have very well learned your lesson with your ill-deserved "instincts". In the future, do not over react so.

#85 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:29pm by extradorkyloser

I completely agree extradorkyloser.

My first instinct would be to yell and cover up, not kick someone in the face.

And for the poster that mentioned self-defense, there is no self defense law in my state. A man broke into an elderly woman's house, and she grabbed her shot gun and started yelling at him. While he was running away, he tripped over her coffee table and broke his leg. He sued her, and won the case. If she HAD shot him, she would have gone to jail for murder/attempted murder.

But this wasn't self defense. Noone hurt her. This was sheer over-reaction.

#89 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:40pm by epoh

That's why you gotta love Mississippi. If someone ever breaks into your home/threatens to harm you here, you have the right (and the obligation) to shoot that fucker in the face.

#99 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:53pm by theanonimouse

Overreacting? If it had been a grown man, it would not be overreacting at all! If a perverted jerk was trying to get free looksies, he deserves a boot in the face, and thensome. No "pen is mightier than the sword" bs.. especially since you can press charges on him even after kicking him. Dunno what planet you're from, but he could NOT press charges since he was instigating in the first place. And you know sexual harassment from man towards woman almost always ends in the woman's favour. Though that means, on the flip side, if a man had done that to a chick, it would be considered uncalled for... fuck the world's life, for that aspect.

But yes, anyway, I would have definitely kicked and screamed.

#105 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:04pm by DameGreyWulf

Oh, and, about the self-defense argument... nah, I wouldn't call it self defense either. Just instinct caused from all the published men in the world who are total pigs. As in, all the reports about rapists, creepers, scary kidnapping stories as children, etc, has caused a general natural instinct to develop where you feel the need to make a scene if you feel threatened or your (body) privacy was breached.

(rawredittimelimit)

I live in CT

#213 - On 07/30/2009 at 6:45am by epoh

Tch I would've done the same thing. It's the freaking 4 yr old's fault for sticking his head under the dressing room. I mean any kid with common sense and I mean ANY kid would know to go to each dressing room and knock on the goddamn door instead of sticking their head under it. The kid had it coming.

#86 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:38pm by 2Chances2Fail

#90 has the best comment EVER!!!

#115 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:19pm by Amkii

LOL at everyone saying "YDI". Had she known it was a 4 year old, I highly doubt that she'd kick.
Hell, I would even if it WAS a four year old, but that's just me.
Honestly, instincts are hard to say "Oh hey, instincts, f**k off. That's a 4 year old because I can TOTALLY see through doors. I have super powers." Yeah, FYL. I'd feel really bad.

Not that you could control it or anything, but I hope you said sorry and hugged the poor kid. (As long as he didn't run away!)

#88 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:40pm by Everlasting

Should've curb stomped him.

#91 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:42pm by grungecat

What I want to know is why did the kid's mother leave him alone like that? If she doesn't feel comfortable bringing him into the dressing room with her, then she should save her shopping for a time when he's not with her. You shouldn't leave a kid that young out of sight. If she had kept a better eye on her kid, this wouldn't have happened.

But OP, your first instinct was to kick? Why not just yell? You sort of deserve it.

#92 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:44pm by letitbe56

Little moron deserved it. He was lucky you weren't wearing shoes, and only kicked him once.

#93 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:44pm by okami36

what the hell is wrong with people saying you have terrible instincts. that's EXACTLY the right instinct when some stranger invades your personal space

F his life.

#101 - On 07/29/2009 at 9:55pm by yeti09

As far as I'm concerned, there's no issue here. Kid shouldn't have been a creeper.

#107 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:08pm by 7hir7een

wow i'm laughing at all the idiots who think its her fault...
if i was her the first thing i would do is react and kick him? i would say
its more of the kids fault in my opinion ?

he should know now to look under dressing rooms ?

#111 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:15pm by viadomus815

"out of instinct," lol! Makes it sound like this has happened before. Tell me, OP... how do you feel about small children? ;)

#112 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:17pm by Amkii

would of done the same. better the kid get kicked then kidnapped cuz its not being watched.

#113 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:17pm by kyle_kbo20

Why do so many people attempt to be cool and be 'trolls'
like "YDI FOR GETTING CHANGED"
"YDI FOR BUYING CLOTHES"
It's a massive fail.
:)

Favourited this fml though.

#114 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:19pm by _cheeseballs

bet everyone who said ydi would do the same if put in the situation

#116 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:19pm by kyle_kbo20

Dumb ass parent should watch there kids more!!! And if they( the parents ) were changing then tough shit take the kid in with you!!! Dumbfuckers

#118 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:27pm by Crickets

#119 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:30pm by Princess_LC

all she saw was something poppig up under her door, she didn't have time to think.

#127 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:51pm by XxKate1294xX

can you not telling the difference in size between a 4 year old head and an adult head?

#123 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:38pm by AlexZB

Not when it was by instinct, she didn't have control. Haven't you ever done anything like this? I know plenty of people who have accidentally punched their friends in the face over similar situations.

It's one of those unfortunate events that are nobody's fault.

At least OP probably wasn't wearing shoes, and since she didn't mention anything, the kid probably didn't get hurt.

#128 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:55pm by airplanefood

for the people who said YDI how is it her fault?! the parents should watch their damn kids!

#124 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:40pm by iplayrugby18

Sure, the kid has a foot-shaped indent where his nose should be, but it's not your fault. Mom should have kept him in the dressing room with her. She's lucky all he got was a swift chop for surprising someone in a vulnerable moment -- as opposed to accepting Chester the Molester's candy invite.

Reflex, folks. Mom could use some.

#125 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:48pm by mercyFML

I don't even care about the fml I just hope this is posted.

#126 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:50pm by bman16

kick to kill next time. Survival of the fittest in action.

#129 - On 07/29/2009 at 10:56pm by lolwatlol

Poor kid, but I would've reacted the same way. Definitely not your fault, if anything, as others have said, it's the mom's fault for not watching her child.

#130 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:03pm by SpitFyre

Lol well the kid kind of deserved it...

#134 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:10pm by g33ktr0n

This was an accident, plain and simple. Unfortunate for the tyke, but embarassing for the OP. I've done something similar when a kid looked under the bathroom stall. But I just shouted at her.

#135 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:13pm by Keiko86

The kid deserved it, no need to be looking under doors

#136 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:21pm by Snella

Not your fault. I would have done the same.

#137 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:22pm by lillybeans

#140 - On 07/29/2009 at 11:38pm by 1073kat

#149 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:15am by breeanna16

I'm so glad you did that. It pisses me off to no end when children think it's okay to stick their faces into a place that is supposed to be PRIVATE just because their mommy walks around the house naked so it's normal to them. I can't tell you how many times little boys have tried to climb INto my bathroom stall with me, as I'm sitting on the toilet trying to cover myself. For all mothers in the world: teach your children two very important things. Jesus, and not to fucking intrude on locked doors just because they fit in the space beneath them.

#150 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:16am by pedegg

agree with everything but the jesus part

#160 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:39am by ananke2989

You kick people in the face out of "instinct?"

#151 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:17am by Me27

The woman should have brought someone else with her to watch her kid. If you're going shopping for clothes, it's kind of a given that you'd likely be using the changerooms. If you have a small child with you of the opposite gender, why is there no third person to watch them while you're obviously unable or unwilling? The kid could well have been snared by a pedophile while his mother was changing. The kid didn't deserve a foot to the face from the OP, but his mother certainly does.

I personally would've just shrieked like a banshee if someone was peeping under my door. If it really was a peeping tom I wouldn't have thought of kicking him in the face until long after the fact.

#152 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:18am by Lythiaren

WOW! 3 new yorkers in a row! Anyways, you shouldn't kick people out of instinct, so YDI. Sorry.

#153 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:19am by wi_party_boy

this FML makes me feel lucky, when i was like 4 my mom took me into the wonmens changing room at the YMCA. I got away without any kicks in the face, of course i knew better than to go looking under the stalls.....

#157 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:30am by jbo300

Some of you guys are ridiculous!
If you're truly frightened by something or shocked or whatever, you're gunna do the first thing that comes to mind. You're not gunna think, "Hmmm, let me make sure it's not something else, or a child looking for it's mother." You're gunna kick the shit out of that mo' fucker. x]

#159 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:38am by EffedUpVida

I'm sorry, but kicking people in the face isn't an instinct. You weren't being attacked. At the most, you were potentially being leered at. Instinct is to COVER UP, not viciously attack. And who the hell did you expect to be looking? I'm sorry, but kids do that all the time. Random men don't. So yeah, you deserved it.

#161 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:44am by fmlcomment

Her reaction was normal you idiot.

#174 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:21am by OMFGG

No, it wasn't. Unless she has amazingly bad eyesight, she would have seen that it was a child. With a tiny head. I agree with #150. Lash out first? Sounds like anger issues. Besides, why would a man risk going through the women's department, into a dressing room where there were probably other women, and try to get a peek when someone might walk in at any time? Nonsensical.

#207 - On 07/30/2009 at 5:25am by Lexia

it's the parents fault. I feel awful for that kid. also the girl probably didn't get a good look at the boys face because he was so close to the ground so it's not really the girls fault although I do think a kick was a little much.

#162 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:46am by quietgirl

Yeah seriously OP, don't feel bad. You're awesome.

#164 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:51am by grungecat

to all those people saying "oh my gosh why would you kick a poor kid in the face? god can't you see he's a little kid? God if someone does pep just report it to secerity YDI totaly" I mean really if someone sticks there head under the door you're not going to pause and see if it's a man or not and then raise your hand and say secerity there is a man in here watching me change and wait for them to get there. you're going to fuckin flip out and kick him and get out of the room. She acted how a normal person would have you stupid fucktards

#165 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:52am by Raining_up_angel

i feel sorry for the kid, but he should have knocked or called for his mom. however, i would have totally kicked their face in if the peeper was old enough to know that peeping is wrong

#167 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:57am by snowangel1616

Oh that sucks. I'm sorry FYL and the kid's

#168 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:58am by FuzzyWalnuts

BAD instinct. Actually most ppl would COVER themselves up insted of "attacking"...i mean you yourself wasnt even being attack. so YOU FAIL.

i mean if you were at a Thrift store MAYBE a random dude would do that, but if your at a Mall in a busy store its unlikely to happen.

AND i thought that dressing rooms are gender separated w/ a possible monitor person near the entrance, So a MAN cant "peep" at you..

I hope you apologized.

#169 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:59am by Amandizzle

#175 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:21am by KillaKingPerrie

Anyone else see the fake submitted FML about a chick losing her 4 yr old son at the mall and him returning with a black eye? That's just pathetic.

#176 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:24am by meowalexx

I've done that, only I wasn't sorry. Obviously the OP feels bad about it or it wouldn't be an FML. When somebody sticks their head into a stall, one does not usually wait around to check if it is someone else's misbegotten brat. You just get straight to the raining down punishment part.

#177 - On 07/30/2009 at 1:29am by calikit

awwww poor kid!!!

#183 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:05am by summer66

I was shopping with my mom in Houston a while back and my son was playing in the dressing rooms and was peeking under the doors it was kinda cute. my mom was the only one in there though and he was only 14 months at the time so it was more of a game as to which one had grandma and he'd run laughing when he found her. even the dressing room attendants were laughing saying how cute it was but FYL for kicking the poor kid and FHL for getting kicked by 4 you'd think his parents would make him go in there and sit still for a few min so she could try on clothes.

oh btw my son had been in his stroller for several hours without fussing so I let him run around in there and stretch his legs for a bit since it was a safe place to keep an eye on him with only one way in or out and with us being the only ones in there.

#184 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:17am by morgan020

I probably would've kicked too, ha ha.
Sucks to be you.
I used to work in retail and once this little boy was being psycho and ended up ripping the dressing room curtain half way open while some lady was getting changed.
Parents need to look after their kids better, not saying all parents don't obviously. Ha ha.

#185 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:23am by allymate

I don't blame the OP. A lot of people take offensive action in those situations. It sucks that it was just a kid though.

Where was his mother? What I don't understand is why anyone would leave their child unattended while they go try on clothes. That is so insanely irresponsible. Or if someone was watching the child, why weren't they keeping a closer eye on him?

#186 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:28am by guttural

Shit, he couldn't have called out his mom's name? The mom should have either been watching her stupid kid or just not try on clothes when he's with her.

I bet he's learned not to just stick his head wherever.

#187 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:29am by Cupcake10

I would do the same thing, and the mom probably shouldn't have left her kid running around

Ouch!! Poor kid! Well you couldn't tell anyway... I would have done the same.

#202 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:21am by Pixelle

Kid so deserved it! Shouldnt have been "looking under stalls for his mum". He should have done the sensible, thing and call out to his mum. Or not be left alone at all!

#203 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:28am by Zeepbot

If someone's peeking under your dressing room that seems pretty justified. It's the 4-year-old's mum's fault for leaving him alone to act in a completely socially unacceptable way.

If your kid is too young to behave then it should be supervised. If it's young enough not to know how to behave, then it is also young enough to be abducted. If you can't look after it for everyone else's sake, then do it for it's own.

#204 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:36am by Sipos

Don't feel bad, that little fucker deserved it. And his mom, too. If she doesn't know how to keep her kids with her she doesn't need to take him out shopping with her. It's not that hard, even if he did run off, he shouldn't have done it in the first place. She should teach her kid to go to the counter or security any time he can't find his parents or is lost. Dumbfucks.

#205 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:44am by muffintastic

Well, the kid learned it's lesson. And painful lesson is the best lesson and it is remembered forever.

#208 - On 07/30/2009 at 5:27am by kitkatkelly

Luckily the worst the kid got was a swift kick in the head. It would have been awful if he'd been snatched. Anyone else remember Jamie Bugler (I think that's it, not sure) and what happened to him when his mother looked away for 3 seconds?

#209 - On 07/30/2009 at 5:33am by kezzstar

#211 - On 07/30/2009 at 6:15am by Jman21

To all the people who said its child abuse, please shut up. It's not. I bet you anything that she's had past experiences of peeping toms in changerooms. It was instinct that she kicked the kid in the face, if she had her choice she probably wouldn't have kicked him. The mother should have been supervising her child. She obviously feels terrible about what she did, so please, stop trying to make her feel worse!

Kid learned two good life lessons:

1) Don't peek under dressing room doors.
2) When you have an irresponsible mother, you might get kicked in the head.

Too bad, so sad. I would have kicked him too.

#220 - On 07/30/2009 at 10:01am by ediciusNJ

20 years ago I would have been enraged at this, but the fact is these days there are lots of ignorant people out there with camera phones who are genuinely doing invasive acts.
So now, I'm kinda torn, I don't think it's cool to act in a violent way like this without forethought, however I can understand the girls reaction as well.

Hey, I just hope the Kid was okay, today he learned to knock...

#227 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:06pm by sheni_009

The same thing happened to me but I was in an airport bathroom! So instead of just being half-naked I was pooping. Maybe worse? IDK. But fml decided my story wasn't fml-y enough. So kudos to you for bringing this issue to light! ;)

#228 - On 07/30/2009 at 12:25pm by oooshiny

serves the little kid right, tough love, i would have done the same thing.

Wow, to everyone saying that you shouldn't kick people in the face for looking: What the hell? Oh yes, we wouldn't want to hurt the Peeping Toms, would we? If they decide it's fine and dandy to watch someone undress without their permission, that someone should be able to kick those motherfuckers in their face! They totally deserve that!

To everyone saying "OMG you can't distinguish between a 4-year-old and a man what's wrong with you?!": When you see a face peeking under the door of your dressing room, are you really gonna CHECK to see how old they are? As the OP said, it was instinct.

And to the people somehow deciding that the OP enjoys kicking small children in the face: She obviously doesn't, or she wouldn't have written an FML. She probably thought it was some weird pervert. I highly doubt that, every time she sees a 4-year-old, she takes advantage of the situation and kicks their face.

FYL, OP. Your instinct was perfectly reasonable. I guess it was just too much effort for the mom to at the very least tell her kid which dressing room she was in.

Hopefully the little shit learned something.

#232 - On 07/30/2009 at 2:47pm by manderpander

Hey mothers: Next time, get a god damn baby sitter! If you can't afford a baby sitter, you probably shouldn't have had a god damn kid in the first place!

#233 - On 07/30/2009 at 3:00pm by InspiredByGaGa

im pretty sure you would have been able to tell the difference between a four year old kid and a grown man.

for one an adult would have to get down on his knees to look...a little kid wouldn't.

dumb ass.

#236 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:23pm by jimmi92

i would have laughed my ass off if i had seen the kid get kicked in the face

#237 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:41pm by pxxxy

Honestly I probably would've kicked out of instinct too.

At least the kid won't grow up to be a peeping tom now ;P

#238 - On 07/30/2009 at 4:53pm by PlasticPopsicle

the kid deserved it but the mother deserved it even more for not keeping an eye on her kid. Yes, I am a mother for those who will say, "You must not have kids."

#241 - On 07/30/2009 at 5:17pm by Sarahox3

What kind of idiot kicks out of instinct...

#242 - On 07/30/2009 at 5:32pm by alixsanders

I like your instincts xD

#243 - On 07/30/2009 at 6:28pm by Edochan

Jesus Christ, why would you even think to kick someone? Your an asshole. YDI.

#244 - On 07/30/2009 at 11:03pm by Katex7

That little shit deserved it

#245 - On 07/31/2009 at 7:53am by Bhuggy

Whatever, someone had to teach him that there are better ways to find your mom than looking under dressing room doors.

#246 - On 07/31/2009 at 9:46am by shaPOW

that sucks

#247 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:25am by jz4

hahaha this is awesome. Poor kid, but still funny!

#248 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:39am by squibbyboo

Do you think the four year old child will live happily ever after, after having them sights seen so young? O_o

#249 - On 07/31/2009 at 2:12pm by Kervik

Are you kidding? After being harassed by men since puberty, you fucking bet I'm going to kick if I see someone looking at me while I'm changing.

#250 - On 07/31/2009 at 7:27pm by manderpander

lol you have some killer "instinct." you might wanna try not destroying everything that moves.

anyway... at least kid's learning his lesson early.

#251 - On 07/31/2009 at 11:12pm by jmeg

Honestly kid or not, I'd have kicked too... Too manu sick fucks out there. For the mother of the child, you needa go shopping take the kid with you park his ass outsite the door and him if he moves you're selling him to gypsies, worked on my cousins fine :)

#252 - On 08/01/2009 at 12:16am by drkangl8dj

#253 - On 08/01/2009 at 3:22am by wellchit

Someone looks under my door and scares the shit outta me ill walk out half dressed looking for a guard.......seriously, who has time to react and check if it a kid or not?! I get startled I react, that dumb fuck should know better and if the kid's mom has time to shop AND the moey hire a fuckin babysitter problem solved!!!

#254 - On 08/01/2009 at 8:30am by drkangl8dj

But still, I actually lawled at that one.

#255 - On 08/01/2009 at 10:00am by FMLJena

not an fml. kid deserved it. just stay away from the mother.

#256 - On 08/02/2009 at 4:17pm by cantth1nk0fnam3

If I was the OP...I would first check if its a adult...then instead of kicking....curb stomp....

#257 - On 08/03/2009 at 1:32am by ReconExpert

You totally did the right thing. He should have been better supervised, and It's good you instinctively act like that, it may save you one day.

#258 - On 08/06/2009 at 1:38pm by TiffJ16

Just cover up.

#259 - On 08/07/2009 at 1:27am by eccentrix

I swear I saw this exact same FML---word for word---a few weeks ago. Why is it on here again?

#260 - On 08/11/2009 at 6:06pm by asnider

haha fuck children they are all retards and should be killed

#261 - On 08/24/2009 at 9:26pm by hahayousuck1

To everyone who keeps banging on about how it is 'bad' instinct to kick someone on the face has no concept of the meaning of the word 'instinct'. There's no good or bad instinct, as when something done instinctively (like swiftly pulling your hand away from a hot plate) the motor system by-passes the brain and there is no thought process involved. You don't think 'Oh, it's a good idea for me to take my hand away from this plate which is now currently burning through my skin.' You just do it. Pay more attention in science class.

#262 - On 09/08/2009 at 2:29am by buckfasthero

that's terrible, but if I saw a head peeking under my door, id kick too.....too bad its a child
