Today, I had to be go to the ER after I fell on a rake. After having stiches put in, my Mom wanted me to go to the store with her. My friend saw me at the store and thought it would be funny to rip off the band aid because she thought I was hiding a zit. She ripped out my stitches. FML

I call fake. I've gotten stitches plenty of times, and i can tell you "ripping off the bandaid" would NOT rip out the stitches, unless the doctor was an idiot and put the adhesive part right on the stitches. Even so, unless the stitches were incredibly shallow, it wouldn't get ripped out of the skin.

It's physics... provided the adhesive was indeed on the stitches... the larger the force used to rip off the bandage the greater liklihood there is for the stitches to be pulled out.
I feel so bad for you and your friend is kinda really stupid... you need A LOT of power to rip off stiches

i got stitches on my chin and lip last time but i didn't have any band-aids whatsoever, everyone could just see the stitches. it's probably different in different countries anw.

Uh..how is that possible? Bandages have little cotton squares in the middle which is positioned right over the wound/stitches...how can this rip your stitches?....unless your doctor used duct tape?
Stitch might have gotten stuck on the sticky part, if the doctor put it on wrong. :o
