Man or woman?

Today, my husband of ten years was playing the Sims. I asked him about the house he built. Apparently, it was his dream house, and he recreated himself as a Sim so he could live in it. Then I asked him where the wife was. There was no wife. It was his happy place. FML

HHAHAHA DITCH THAT LOSER.
you dont deserve that! you should go make a fantasy house and fantasy boyfriend to make him jealous!! (:

#2 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:54pm by kwight404

At least he didn't have a girlfriend who was your polar opposite. But still, fyl

#3 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:54pm by soiree

He rules! It's obviously you who sucks since you are offended by a game.

#4 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:55pm by catacombhome

haha im sorry that sucks

#5 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:58pm by awsumelefants

LOL
Sorry, but you gotta slap him or something.

#6 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:59pm by SasuNaru

Oh please, just because it's a domestic game doesn't mean that it's a domestic fantasy that he has built. Maybe he truly uses the game as a way to completely get away from EVERYONE. It's not like he replaced you with a stripper named Candi.

Everyone needs an escape, this could be like his forest of solitude.

#7 - On 05/31/2009 at 6:59pm by derriduh

I like that you spelt Candi with an i to avoid any confusion about her ever being anything other than a stripper :)

my mum eats cheerios in front of the TV in her underwear

#9 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:01pm by eggnogg

YDI for asking about the wife.

#10 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:01pm by Parkbench

Ha! I'm a simmer myself, don't take it personally. He just needs some him time

#11 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:05pm by fireandice92

Why does he need a wife in his dream house? At least he didn't put a 'perfect woman' in it. Maybe this is his way of saying he needs you to back off and give him some alone time. I personally see nothing wrong with a wifeless house at all. If he'd made a perfect woman, then I'd be a little miffed, but since he didn't I suggest you not get offended by it.

#12 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:07pm by JoyHeart

Just wait till he adds his dream wife
That'll be something to FML about

#13 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:11pm by NoneOfTheAbove

Maybe if you didn't make life suck for him he wouldn't need to run off to a happy place. I bet you're going to spend some time nagging him about that.

#14 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:13pm by dspadres

wow all the way from poland.
anyways this is pretty funny

#15 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:14pm by goldberg2046

at least he's acting it out in a video game & not in real life.

#16 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:16pm by BethanyKimberly

so? okay, if youve ever played the sims, playing more than 1 character at a time pretty much completely SUCKS. so i get it. why would he want to control his wife in a game? and why would you care?

#17 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:16pm by maxv_15

Why isn't there a "who gives a crap" option to click on?

#18 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:17pm by greatnt249

lol 18

#19 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:20pm by NoneOfTheAbove

lmao burnnnnn!

#20 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:21pm by angel03260

So what? I agree with #18

Would you rather he make some super hot chick who is the total opposite of you or something that dresses in sexy lingerie to bang him every night and gets him beer whenever he wants it while he sits in front of the TV watching games all day?

Yeah, didn't think so.

#21 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:22pm by genius_man16

It's just a joke. Get over it.

#22 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:22pm by normandin131

I want to meet your husband.

#23 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:25pm by nonotme

It's just a game, not like it's gunna happen. You overreacted, unless you make big deals out of every little thing like this.

#24 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:27pm by Night22

if you've been married for 10 years I'm going to assume you're at least in your 30's
so...I think the problem here is that your husband is playing the Sims

#25 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:29pm by paks7

your husband rocks.

#27 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:38pm by untoldfame

It's a game! So what? Have you ever played it? It's a lot easier and sometimes more fun having one sim, then having 2 or more.

#28 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:39pm by zee209

Just seems like an overreaction to me.

#29 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:40pm by Vandal

Why would he make his Sim life the same as his real life? Wouldn't that be kinda pointless and boring?

#30 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:41pm by omgitsLindsay

eh, i wouldn't know myself but I suppose there is a time in a mans life when he relizes he would have been better off single. Still, its only a game...

#31 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:45pm by shadow_duv

did you check to see if she was in the kitchen?

:(

#32 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:48pm by rallets

Don't worry, just a game.

#33 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:49pm by LordLayAlot

Aww. That sucks :/
Maybe he just needs his guy time though (: I mean, he's been with you for 10 years, he might miss what it's like to be without a wife and put all of his imaginings into a game.

#34 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:55pm by Always_Abby

doesn't mean he doesn't want you around irl, he just wants some solitude

#35 - On 05/31/2009 at 7:55pm by oligopsony

Not necessarily the case that he doesn't want you around. He might just like being alone sometimes, or he might not want to bother to control more than one sim.

It's not like Sims are for kids.

#36 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:00pm by NotNegativeNews

At least he's doing it in a game, and not in real life.

#37 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:04pm by Blue_Coconuts

Well, if you don't have kids with him yet, don't rush to have a bunch to "bring you closer together", okay?

#38 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:08pm by aback

First of all, it's just a game. Don't take it personally.

Second of all, that's really, really funny from the outside looking in.

#39 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:14pm by DamienTheRabbit

From a 3rd person point of view, I could see why he did it. He is probably doing that "what if" scenario. It doesn't mean he regrets marrying you, just that he wonders what it could have been like. I always wonder what my life would be like now if I hadn't met my husband, but I would never trade my marriage for anything. To be honest though, I'd probably be pissed if my husband did that, too. LOL.

#40 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:16pm by Loverfli

Uhm...you're bitching about his Sims life? Remember, it's just a game.
Now if he were get rid of you in REAL life, that would be poopy.

#41 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:20pm by lolwut_fail

Sims 3 is coming out on Tuesday. You should make yourself in a bad ass house, without a husband, and be like, "There's no husband. It's my happy place."

#42 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:25pm by SiLveRStaRLIGHT

I love the phrase "something to FML about."

#43 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:27pm by lolololcheese

I love Sims.
:)
LOL @ 42.

#44 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:29pm by freaking_asian

damn that sucks

#45 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:30pm by laxgirl20

... and your disturbing it.

#46 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:39pm by NoMercy

And you'd feel better if he had a sim of you that he could completely control with the click of a button? Its not like he sent a sim of you to die in a fire or something, get over it.

#47 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:40pm by o76923

I have to agree with the age comments. I mean, it's pretty cool he plays the Sims- but doesn't he have something better to do?

#48 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:42pm by soccergirl37

that means you're doing somthing wrong!
w.e just unplug the computer and tell him to get a real life xD

#49 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:44pm by Smart_ass09

take it as a hint ?

they do warn you about marriage as the years go by..

#50 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:50pm by bella_brasil

maybe you shouldn't be such a bad wife

#51 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:50pm by ericpowpow

at least he didn't make a Sim to represent you then kill it in a terrible way.

#53 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:54pm by FordPrefect

I agree with #52. When you're single, you long for a relationship. When you're in a relationship, you long for being single.

#54 - On 05/31/2009 at 9:20pm by Abood

for number 7 the sims isnt a way to escape and b free thats what weed is for every1 should do it look that shit up it aint bad for u jus dont do pills heroin etc jus weed i have no idea y i typed that cuz it has nothin to do with anything im high im bored im gunna go jack off

SIMS 3 COMES OUT NEXT MONDAY!!!!!

#58 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:10pm by melishusss

Eh, don't take it personally. He probably just wants to escape from *everyone*, not just you.

#59 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:18pm by CyclonePsycho

It's his happy place to get away from you (his wife). Men have been doing that for decades now with golf and fishing. what the problem is?

#60 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:18pm by pyro33

stupid fml. i''m sure a lot of husbands say things like this daily as a joke or whatever. not fml.

#62 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:29pm by sfsdfsf

That sucks

#64 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:32pm by tomteh1337

We all need a place to get away from life sometimes. I wouldn't fret this too much unless he's being a dick in real life

#65 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:38pm by RunZoneFive

your husband is sooo g.
but so rude.
like honestly, he's the living proof that chivalry is dead.

#66 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:40pm by jorygirly

lol, it's his happy place.

#67 - On 05/31/2009 at 10:51pm by 24788

#21 said it all for me. Not a YDI or FYL.

#68 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:09pm by spillproof

.. It's a game. Wah wah wah.

#69 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:29pm by HurriKaty

ugh sims is so old!
tell him to grow up

#70 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:32pm by ceecee794

I'm with #56 on this one.

#71 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:34pm by spirited_away33

Amazing! Your husband is my new favorite person of the day lol. Ok it's sad, but I can't help but laugh.

#72 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:48pm by Trollipop

well............... maybe he just needs a place of his own.... except it usually exists in the real world and not in a stupid video game..... i think youll solve ur problem if you just give him his own like "man cave" or something

#73 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:49pm by tomoturtle

there is not win for your husband there. I am sure that if he had made a wife you would probably be jealous of her, saying something like "he spends more time with her than me" or whatever. it's just a game, let your husband enjoy himself for pete's sake.

#74 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:52pm by waspbr

OWNED LOL

#75 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:00am by AkeemKN

LOL. It's not that bad though, don't take it personally.

#76 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:05am by 26242

Well, to be fair, would your dream house feature your husband and all his stuff (like the ugly recliner, the messy tool room, the unorganized computer junk, the one room with the paint he chose, and/or the skid-marked underwear)? Besides, "happy places" are supposed to be solitary, otherwise that defeats the purpose.

#77 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:23am by snitcheyes411

Ah that's not that bad, don't take it too personally. It was his dream HOUSE, not dream LIFE. At least he didn't create a wife with his ex's name or something.

#78 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:25am by babydoll86

You way way deserved it!!!

You're probably a nagging annoying wife, not a loving, sexy kitten.

think about it

#79 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:38am by Eiotlrd

A little old to be playing The Sims, ain't it?

#80 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:39am by deathproof

#18 takes it! Love the idea!

#81 - On 06/01/2009 at 1:11am by elcaguy

Like others have said, it's just a game.

I'm sure he loves you very much.

:)

#82 - On 06/01/2009 at 1:35am by jSOPURE

ahahahah he's so cute. I'm sure he loves you though, But think of it this way, would you prefer him having control on everything you do in a game? ;)

#83 - On 06/01/2009 at 1:50am by bosver

BFD. It's just a game! Get over it will you? It's not going to effect anything or anyone.

#84 - On 06/01/2009 at 1:55am by dyld921

haha awsome

#85 - On 06/01/2009 at 2:01am by CheezerX

HAHAHA! that is amazing

#86 - On 06/01/2009 at 2:13am by Aray

Well... apparently your relationship with him could use a little home improvement...

BTW every one knows men wish to frolic in the green pastures of immaturity, wrapped in the warmth of solitude embraced by stupidity. Men dream of living with in gold mansions plated in beer kegs and custom vaginas outfitted into the walls. Men dream of having a place away from the hormones of women, a place of serenity, solitude and social suicide. Trust me, its nothing to worry about.

#87 - On 06/01/2009 at 2:40am by lawlkat

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

don't be silly hun. He obviouslly loves you because he's with you. :P He's prob just having fun. My girl friend always jokes that she thinks life would be easier without men and I jokingly agree. :P

#88 - On 06/01/2009 at 3:01am by Jennika

really ?

Are you ok, instead of making you into a computer game character he spends his life with you ...
Im sure you are devastated.

#89 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:09am by Leprecon

1 - where it's from makes a difference?

#90 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:23am by wbrycem

Jesus christ, can't the man play a GAME without having to include an homage to you? Yeesh. Self-centered much?

#91 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:25am by volks1

thats funny as hell, BTW the sims 3 comes out in one day fuck yeah

#92 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:57am by davidmartindale

hahahaha.. and #91, SIMS 3 came out like last week and Im effin playin it rite now!! Created a dream house full of bitches

#93 - On 06/01/2009 at 5:05am by irawk

so he's not happy with you but he doesn't have the balls to leave. FYL indeed

#94 - On 06/01/2009 at 6:11am by gatita

Playing the Sims IS easier with just one person though.

#95 - On 06/01/2009 at 7:38am by Sgt_Schadenfreud

#93: Uh, I'm not really sure how you got it, but it officially comes out tomorrow...so #92 is right.

#95: Actually, I'd say it's easier with two -- assuming one of them doesn't have a job. Then you can take care of needs, the house, etc. while the other is at work. Beyond that, though, it is most definitely more difficult having more characters.

OP: The Sims is not supposed to be an exact replica of reality. If he had some whore of a girlfriend I might understand, but because he had NO wife? You take things way too personally if you're offended by the fact that your husband didn't put you into The Sims.
Given that you put something like this onto a website, I'm going to assume that, if there is a reason he didn't put you into the game, it's probably your fault. YDI.

#96 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:15am by Fragnox

Do the same to him. Let's see how HE feels.
Sorry bout that though. FYL.

#97 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:23am by neversaykoko

lol awsome id totaly do the same tbh i mean i like the GF alot but mu happy peacfull place would be alone. could totaly understand anyone else doing the same tbh

#98 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:32am by whereisbob

LMAO! Gotta love the sims!

#99 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:39am by dang

I think SIMS is generally creepy and people who take it seriously have issues coping with real life, but while I am of that opinion, this situation can go toward either extreme. Either he's trying to tell you something or it is nothing to worry over.

Regardless, it was pretty crap of him to say that it was his "happy place". Sorry you have such an insensitive partner.

#100 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:42am by Evilbeagle

I play sims and I would never put my husband in the game.

#101 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:50am by Ssmartasss

It's a game, so it's not supposed to simulate your marriage but offer an alternative. Don't get offended, it's just a gamers way. Most of the games don't involve wives or husbands and are not even meant to.

#102 - On 06/01/2009 at 8:56am by Krring

Every man deserves a happy place. For some it's the bathroom. For others it's The Sims.

#103 - On 06/01/2009 at 9:18am by cefarix

lol wow. ur husband has a sense oh humour. Appreciate it!

#104 - On 06/01/2009 at 9:28am by st87

Why do you sometimes tell us where the FML's come from? Sometimes I think it is to show if they're probably fake i.e.: "Today I was walking around in public in my bikini top and it fell down OMG FML" from a very conservative arab country but I think they have Sims in Poland lol so is it just for added interest?

And OP that's sad but try not to make it mean too much about your marriage, he's with you IRL.

#105 - On 06/01/2009 at 9:58am by purple_sarah

Hey, my Sims 2 dream home involves me living with several women, one of whom is my wife. Does that sound better? :-)

Seriously though, that sounds like a joke I'd engineer just for my wife if I was him. Then again mine has a sense of humor.

#106 - On 06/01/2009 at 10:30am by regalarius

next time he's playing sims, why not throw on some lingerie and work him over completely - you got married for a reason, so put some fire into things occasionally....... If you're not interested in that, or he's not interested in you doing that, then, yeah, your FML would be accurately posted!

#107 - On 06/01/2009 at 10:46am by MGW501

Clearly you deserved it. How did you get out of the kitchen anyway?

#108 - On 06/01/2009 at 11:32am by Allord

Oh I do that and my husband is awesome. Why recreate the life you already have? BORING! Dont take it personally.

#109 - On 06/01/2009 at 12:56pm by littlegoldwoman

well quit being such a horrible hag and maybe he wont have to make himself a dream life in a video game.
just my personal opinion.
I bet you were probably about to chew him out about something stupid too.

#110 - On 06/01/2009 at 1:43pm by crazycracker37

i would sneek on his file when hes not home and add u into his fantacy life lol

#111 - On 06/01/2009 at 2:49pm by luvbird1

it's actually harder to have two or more people in the game so don't get upset lol!

#112 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:00pm by PredyJessica

This is situational IMO.

YDI - For being a crappy wife.
FYL - If you aren't a crappy wife.

#113 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:05pm by hiandbaii

Just give him some space :) at least in the virtual world

#114 - On 06/01/2009 at 4:09pm by DJ0ker

#118 - On 06/02/2009 at 1:09am by keveeseeram

#119 - On 06/02/2009 at 2:25am by GymnasticsGirl2

So what ? A guy can't have a bit of peace even on a computer game ? No wonder he didn't put you in there.

#120 - On 06/02/2009 at 1:30pm by Morgane324

1. Don't listen to teenagers comments
2. I understand where you are comming from, it doesn't feel good to think your life partner might feel their life could be better without u. It may not be that way though.
3. Find out how deeply to read into it, it could be a sign, or it could be a man being male, u know how they are. Guys don't think of things like we do. At least he didn't add a girlfriend who is your opposite.
4. Don't make a big deal of it if you decide to talk to him.
5. Good luck, cheer up! :)

#121 - On 06/02/2009 at 5:02pm by rustyrox

He's just not that into you!

#122 - On 06/02/2009 at 5:28pm by PeaceLoveTashi

Another happy couple in another happy marriage.
Isn't marriage great?

YDI for being one of the millions of people who think marriage means everlasting happiness.
Unless you're in a marriage at least as long as his and you're still happy, any arguments against this is invalid.

#123 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:23am by philosopher

haha oh dude, FYL alright :D

#124 - On 06/03/2009 at 7:39am by MBG

#7 - You're totally right..

#14 - You're hilarious.

That's not shitty or good, or anything. It's fucking funny that this woman is such a tighty though. I think I peed my pantses. Get some hobbies you creeper. Like www.fmylife.com. There's a good hobby right there.

#126 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:25pm by angela_baker

That would be my dream.

#127 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:59pm by josephdk23

Yea if he built his dream house he for sure built his dream life. No matter how hard it is to play two characters. Chances are you should start fixing or disolving your marriage now. It beats wasting ten more years. Either way it screams divorce eventually. You'll blame him and he'll leave you for it.

#128 - On 06/04/2009 at 4:37pm by shawnc

Its JUST a game. Lol, I make Sims houses, and offend everyone ALL THE TIME!
