Man or woman?

Today, to ask a boy I really liked to my school's turnabout dance, I gave him a box full of 10 cupcakes that spelled out T-U-R-N-A-B-O-U-T-?. The boy gave the box back a little later. There were two cupcakes left inside. It said N-O. FML

at least he was thoughtful enough to reject you in a (kinda) creative way

#7 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:27pm by hallucinog3n

to #4--bad idea, that could be what got her into this mess in the first place

#8 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:27pm by mannys1fan

You could have saved the cupcakes and just got rejected the old fashioned way. Face to face.

#9 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:27pm by Teacher

lol! He's clever, though.

#10 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:29pm by Amkii

LMAO!!!!!

#12 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:30pm by EMG1

#8 and #11: either way, she's not going with him so she might as well eat them.

#13 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:31pm by LittleMissMack

genius! pure genius!

#14 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:31pm by j

I like this boy :')

#16 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:34pm by Ren0W

Oh that sucks, but at least he did it cleverly and nicely :P. I mean he could have done something stupid like throw them back at you. Or yell really loudly that he didn't want to go with you,

#19 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:39pm by ariboo02

to be fair, the boy didn't have the letters to spell out Y-E-S even if he wanted to do so...

#20 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:40pm by nick_dot_vr

Ouch.

#21 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:40pm by Miaw

go with #18
thats a great idea

#22 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:41pm by pistachio

He has every right to say no. It isn't mean, that's the way these things work. By the act of asking someone, you give them a right to say yes or no. Being vindictive if they say no just shows how shallow you are. Coming up with excuses, saying "He (or she) is not good enough" is ridiculous. They said no. Get over it and try again. Especially if you're young enough to be asking someone to a school function.

#23 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:46pm by source

ROFLLLLLLLLLl
EPICCCCCCCCCCCCCC XD

#24 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:48pm by sahreeg

#19 and #20, you made me :) and I mean, it sucks that he said NO, but at that same time, I can't help but love the creativity. Next time make sure the guy likes you.

#25 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:48pm by vee

thats mighty clever on both sides

at least you had food to comfort you after hahaha

#26 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:49pm by stabstabstab

I hope that's not your real face stab, u would eat the cupcakes to comfort yourself wouldn't u? tubby

#164 - On 03/06/2010 at 9:00am by do20ss

You baked cupcakes for a guy you don't even know likes you? That's fuckin creepy you deserved that one darling.

#27 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:50pm by saywhat

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

#28 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:51pm by That Sucks

you guys are rude. so yes, it was a clever idea what the boy did, but he's obviously immature and probably humiliated this girl. Think about how you would feel if you got up all that courage and went through all that trouble to make cupcakes for someone you like, and then have them say no in the rudest, most embarassing way possible? Not funny.

#29 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:52pm by fyouall

It's hilarious! The girl went to all that effort to get rejected, I can see why, not knowing if someone likes you and going to such lengths without even speaking to them first, I'd find it creepy and even if I did like them, I'd probably reject them anyway =]

#157 - On 10/06/2009 at 1:56pm by Crunchyyy

#29 - how is that the rudest, most embarrassing way possible?

i feel like announcing to the entire school over the loudspeaker, "(her name), wtf were you thinking? i would never go to turnabout with you" would be slightly worse...

#30 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:57pm by hallucinog3n

#29

Really the rudest and most embarrassing way? So if he had thrown the cupcakes at her, that would be less rude. Or if he had just dropped them all on the ground, that would have been less embarrassing?

Just learn to take the no, however it comes, and move on.

#31 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:57pm by source

to #23, he does have the right to say no, but he should have done it differently.

what an ass, i'm sorry.

#32 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:58pm by secretagent

#29 - As I mentioned before, it -isn't- the rudest and most embarrassing way possible. Sure its not the best, but I can think of at least a dozen things he could have done that would be worse.

#33 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:58pm by Kat

hahahaha, this dude is amazing... +100 man points

#34 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:58pm by dudeman

Im sorry, but that's funny...

#35 - On 02/27/2009 at 4:59pm by CollegeKid

#32

This girl is obviously in High School, and by posting it here indicates that it bothered her. So tell me a way he could have said no that would not have bothered her.

#36 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:01pm by source

Wow that sucks especially after you did something so awesome to ask him.

Although Im sorry for laughing, but what he did was a hilarious end to the story. Look on the bright side though, it will get around what he did because that was a dickhole thing to do. Most other girls will be turned off of him when they find out ;)

#37 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:03pm by SOMAgirl

That's not awesome at all =p

#158 - On 10/06/2009 at 1:59pm by Crunchyyy

That's actually a really good way to say no.

I'd shit if some bitch made cupcakes for me, but I'd probably say no since I have a gf, and she'd never bake me shit.

Not that she could.

#38 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:04pm by Mannerheim

LMFAO That was really creative, what a g haha
but it sucks for you, i'm sorry :(

#39 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:06pm by ae_ninja

haha thats so funny. i love how everyones like "LMAO thats hilarious! but yeah that sucks.."

#40 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:08pm by rockin\'

Forget about him; totally not worth the effort.

#41 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:08pm by nomo

Hahahaha, that is amazing. Like someone else said, +100 man points.

And all you little kids complaining that what he did was wrong need to relax. It was a yes or no question and he said no. That's the end of the story. Period. Move the fuck on.

#42 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:22pm by canman87

aww thats horrible. at least he didn't write BURNOUT.

#43 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:24pm by holynemesis1208

What a strange way of asking someone to a dance.
He probably thinks you're a weirdo now.

#44 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:39pm by Neep

Next time choose a word with the letters Y-E-S

#45 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:39pm by Eric

maybe he meant to say "ON" like "it's onnnn" and you just were holding the container upside down

#46 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:46pm by rachel

While it was clever he thought to do that, he's an asshole for really doing it! You are better off without him?

#47 - On 02/27/2009 at 5:52pm by Britty

i don't see the problem, he probably couldn't finish all 10, so he wanted to share. And cupcakes tend to be yummy.

#48 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:00pm by jesusjr

Sorry but that's pretty much the best possible way for him to turn you down

Also you asked him via some dumb cupcakes, he replied via some dumb cupcakes, I don't see the problem

#49 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:00pm by ars

You sound like a woman's dream, #49.

#50 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:03pm by Capybara

#46 hahahahahahaha, freaking hilarious!

#51 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:03pm by vee

Brilliant, classic, oh man that sucks for you.

#52 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:06pm by cloud

Man that's clever, but he's still a dick for accepting a gift from some girl he isn't interested in. Unless he's getting showered with gifts from strangers a simple, "No thanks" right then would've sufficed. And left the OP with enough cupcakes to sufficiently drown her pain.

#53 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:07pm by Defroster

So he took 8 cakes an still said no, find someone better.

#54 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:09pm by Rodin

Classic! Amazing..
just move on.. that's all you could do for now

#55 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:18pm by heyhey

for the girls that say the guy was being a dick and that it probably took a lot for the girl to ask him, this may be true however, guys know more than most girls what it takes to ask someone out/to a dance because WERE USUALLY THE ONES DOING IT and in doing so we have much more experience with getting shot down. so next time you do the same thing that that guy did to her just think about that it probably took a lot for him to come up to you

#57 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:26pm by two ways

If you go out on a limb like that just to ask someone out, you know you're risking all your efforts to go to waste.

On the other hand, the polite thing for him to do was to just give you all the cupcakes back and say no, not eat most of them first :/

And for future reference, I think sweets are a better bribe for women, not always for men...

#58 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:31pm by fb

@43: Au contraire, that would have been much better for her. That's five more cupcakes she gets to console herself with on the night of the dance.

#59 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:33pm by SheriffBart

That really sucks for you and that's totally lame of him....but what a GENIUS. Leaving N-O?! Pure evil and hilarity.

#60 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:40pm by Viva La Corea

That's some cold shit. I hope he at least liked the cupcakes.

#61 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:44pm by Nick

hahaa at #20

poor girl... but i wanna meet that boy :D

#62 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:49pm by OMG

#63 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:52pm by yes

#64 - On 02/27/2009 at 6:59pm by :]] <3

this is pure epic

#65 - On 02/27/2009 at 7:03pm by matt

Well, to get him to say yes, you should have given him a "P" as well, so he could spell "PUT OUT".

#66 - On 02/27/2009 at 7:06pm by Anonymous

Well did you give him the letters to spell "Yes"?

I though not.

#67 - On 02/27/2009 at 7:14pm by Bauer

#69 - On 02/27/2009 at 7:33pm by ahage16

#73 - On 02/27/2009 at 8:42pm by Monkey

:/ Ouuuchh...

But then again, he probably isn't worth it after that.

#74 - On 02/27/2009 at 9:16pm by jellogirl

At least he rejected you creatively ^^
and that was one of the least asshole-y things to do actually >_>
I could think of WAY more things he could have done

#75 - On 02/27/2009 at 11:51pm by *__*

whoa.!! did he even ate the cupcakes? sheesh...~~~ at least he is full. but hello? he could have eaten it all. LOL

#76 - On 02/27/2009 at 11:57pm by mai1808

Hell, I'd have said yes to you because of your creativity.
Clever of him, yes, but come on, you made him cupcakes.

#77 - On 02/28/2009 at 12:09am by Sabby

At least he saved you two cupcakes.

#78 - On 02/28/2009 at 12:50am by Tim

46: Hell yes.

#79 - On 02/28/2009 at 1:00am by x

id feel like crap if a girl i didn't like did that to me, honestly the guy did a somewhat decent thing by letting you down softly

although the inherent childishness of it makes us giggle, you kinda put yourself out there by baking him something, think of the guts it took to eat those cupcakes and then say no??

kids these days

#80 - On 02/28/2009 at 1:13am by envelope

Do you go to Northview haha? Cause we have a dance called turn about too!

Throw the N and O at him!

#85 - On 02/28/2009 at 3:22am by circayouandme

This one is a complex balance between how rude it was to just say "NO" and how awesome it was to use the cupcakes to do it.

#86 - On 02/28/2009 at 5:08am by Nick

hhhaha he is clever

I think it's hilarious, tbh. I'm sure it was really disappointing and all that... but hilarious, nonetheless.

Now if only he had included a note in the box that said "thanks anyway, though"... then he'd seriously be the coolest guy ever xD

#90 - On 02/28/2009 at 10:06am by compromise

I think it's weird to have eaten the cupcakes at all if he were saying no. And yes, creative, but there are kinder ways of saying it rather than a blunt 'no' spelt out in cupcakes.

#91 - On 02/28/2009 at 10:06am by N3

you sound like u'd be a good g/f. keep it up and the right one will say yes in an equally creative way eventually.

#92 - On 02/28/2009 at 10:49am by doc

Well...he couldn't say 'yes' with the cupcakes, could he? There wasn't a 'y', an 'e', or an 's' :P His only option was no.

#93 - On 02/28/2009 at 11:50am by LabanSakamoto

aw i am so sorry. but there is no way he could have spelled yes with the letters that were given

#94 - On 02/28/2009 at 4:15pm by shootmyface25

At least you can have those cupcakes. What a jerk!

#95 - On 02/28/2009 at 7:18pm by gilbs

That hurts...

You should punch the kid

#96 - On 02/28/2009 at 8:49pm by Pwned

#27: Right on.
#29: You're dumb.

At least appreciate the creative way he denied you! That's really funny. Learn your lesson, let the guy approach you first, duh. If he wanted to go with you he would say things like "why haven't you asked me to turnabout?" or keep asking you if you've asked anyone... wisdom from sallen.

#97 - On 02/28/2009 at 11:05pm by Sallen

LMAO this dude is clever.
Sorry for the loss, feel better

O and all the girls who make "boys suck" comments, stop being stupid. If you hate guys, start liking girls but don't bitch about it.

#98 - On 02/28/2009 at 11:26pm by yaboy

scratch that last part, it was directed at #1... stupid comment mod period... needs to be longer

HAHAHAHA 66 funniest thing evere

#100 - On 03/01/2009 at 1:06am by nick

#97 There is a reason it's called TURNABOUT.

As for this FML, I find what both of you did to be very creative.

#101 - On 03/01/2009 at 1:41am by Aoeu

Points for creativity, lol.

#102 - On 03/01/2009 at 1:48am by Klown

At least he didn't return it spelling "Burn?"

#103 - On 03/01/2009 at 1:57am by wtf

Answer number one, generally, I try to be a little more couth then I am about to be but I have a singular response that I feel you deserve. You are a jackass. Now, as to the justanaccount, I'm very sorry. You did a wonderfully creative act and he is a jerk for his response. Try not to let it get to you, much harder in action than in words, and know that there will be decent guys in your future.

#104 - On 03/01/2009 at 4:18am by reren

hey a girl asked me to turnabout like this haha cept i said yes

#105 - On 03/01/2009 at 12:36pm by boner

PEOPLE LIKE THAT DO NOT DESERVE CUPCAKES.
NEVER SPEAK TO HIM AGAIN.

#106 - On 03/01/2009 at 11:45pm by iwontusemyname

should have gone with a more direct approach.

that still sucks though.

#107 - On 03/02/2009 at 11:40am by agj151

hahahahah, im sry, u deserve that, hahahahah, i love this kid, he is awesome, NO

#108 - On 03/02/2009 at 1:30pm by kevinmcl

lol what a bro
It not his fault he didn't want to go with her, and that he's a clever person. There's a lot worse in terms of rejecting people. He could have gone on a loud speaker and insulted her or something... You females set your standards too high, take what you can get jeez

#109 - On 03/02/2009 at 7:29pm by sensual_kidney

i like the idea its something i wouldnt think of! did you ask someone out though that said yes? maube with a note or one of those candy bars ersomething!!!!!!!!!!!! but high school dances were lame! wait till yo uget to go to the bar and reject the creeps there!!! gotta love it

#110 - On 03/02/2009 at 7:51pm by rachelforgot2

i must say, he's pretty creative

#111 - On 03/02/2009 at 10:55pm by sadface77

either you go to my school (not being creepy) or the same excat thing happened to this one girl that my friend knows.
that's so weird.
but sorry that happened!

#112 - On 03/03/2009 at 10:21pm by KillxKatie

That's totally something I would do for a guy... and that's totally something a guy would do to me..

but i must admit that is pretty clever.

#113 - On 03/04/2009 at 5:28am by roxygirl1987

Fuckface. You should have thrown them back at his face.

#114 - On 03/04/2009 at 8:36pm by Spitfire

I feel bad, that was soo cute to do though ]: he's just a jerk

#115 - On 03/05/2009 at 6:52pm by Thegreatflyer

#101
If a guy likes you it doesn't matter how you turn it, he'll let you know. Duh.

#116 - On 03/05/2009 at 10:02pm by Sallen

That sucks. Just keep in mind in future, if you put yourself out there, never put more than what you are willing to loose.

Also, Dispersing attention like this to someone may make them feel like they are being guilted into it. That can be taken as a form of manipulation. it's the equivelant of a guy buying a girl an expensive dinner and believing she 'owes' her something from it. You'll just end up getting a face full of rejection by a person who doesn't appreciate being cornered.

Talk is cheap.
Get to know his feelings about you. In a way it's more personal. Like you actually want to spend time with him.
Also, it makes you seem normal. Make that work for you.

#117 - On 03/07/2009 at 1:11am by speedHog

hahahaha okay I know it hurts but that's really funny. He knows what he's doing. At least he liked the cupcakes! and he'll remember you now. You don't have to give up on him, just take it slow and stay chill. confront him about it, but not in a bad way. give him props for it, smile, and walk away.

#118 - On 03/07/2009 at 1:42pm by pepper005

this kid is a freakin G.....he got 8 free cupcakes

#119 - On 03/07/2009 at 8:17pm by twigsters

As much as it sucks to get jilted, that was a really clever way to say no.

#120 - On 03/07/2009 at 8:20pm by qwerty123456789

LOL!

That STINKS!

#121 - On 03/07/2009 at 11:11pm by bawa

#125 - On 03/11/2009 at 3:14am by Cowman3340

He's awesome. You were rejected in an awesome or at least cunning manner. Therefore, I disagree that your life sucks. :o

I hardly understand why people are calling him a jerk... would it have been worse to just been told no? Maybe he was already going out with someone. Is he a jerk because he ate the cupcakes? He could have eaten them all and just said no, but instead he responded in the medium in which he was asked. Is he a jerk for not giving a reason? Again, he responded in the medium in which he was asked - if you wanted your "no" with some reason backing it, a better medium should have been persued.

Or maybe is he a jerk because he rejected you? Anyone who thinks that should track me down and devote their life to improving my own in any way they can, from giving me all extra earnings to generally making me feel good about myself. Anyone who qualifies but doesn't do this is totally a jerk for rejecting me. I feel heartbroken :(

#130 - On 03/17/2009 at 1:52am by tateno

#132 - On 03/22/2009 at 6:25am by chadi

#133 - On 03/24/2009 at 11:00am by kevin_19

thats really cute, cupcakes are great, I couldn't say no to that. but what he did was clever lol

#134 - On 03/26/2009 at 11:59pm by Laughing_is_cool

to people saying he didnt have the letters to spell out yes, he could have just SAID yes, she never said he had to answer with the cupcakes letters!! and 46 i loveee your comment hahahaha that would have sucked if she got confused about it... and if she has spoken to the guy and wtvr its not creepy that she made him cupcakes its cute:) and yea at least he said no in a kinda nice way, and he thought about how to say no so that count for something right?

#135 - On 03/29/2009 at 7:15pm by princess90

Well, hopefully he was allergic to something in the cupcakes....

#136 - On 04/04/2009 at 1:22pm by Keiko86

#138 - On 05/03/2009 at 7:50pm by ocho117

Oh my god that's really sad :(

That was a really cuntish way to say no. He could have at least written "sorry" on another bit of paper and put it in the box as well.

#139 - On 05/09/2009 at 9:43am by PlasticHandz

cuntish.

i think i'm adding that to my List of Useful Verbs!

#153 - On 08/25/2009 at 6:37am by Kupokupupo

Silly #153. That's an adjective, not a verb.

#166 - On 03/15/2010 at 5:00pm by tbe99

He couldn't have said Y-E-S so he had to write N-O XD

#140 - On 05/12/2009 at 1:05pm by sm0508

That's really sweat. I'm sorry you got turned down.

#141 - On 05/28/2009 at 12:10pm by Sipos

Ow was he supposed to say yes with those letters?

#143 - On 06/03/2009 at 5:48pm by fear_is_here

just like the OP's, the answer to that question is NO!

#154 - On 08/25/2009 at 6:40am by Kupokupupo

That's mean! He should have just told you nicely and given back your cupcakes.

#144 - On 06/09/2009 at 4:18pm by dramakat11

#145 - On 06/10/2009 at 12:07am by Topguy

i asked a guy to my dance like that, infront of the whole class, and he said yes. the night before the dance i was getting my dress made, he had his friend call me and tell me he didnt wanna go with me anymore.. what a douche bag!!! and we ended up going in the same group how awkward that was!!!!

#149 - On 07/16/2009 at 1:40am by cricketncher1246

FYL, but that's creative lol.

#150 - On 07/24/2009 at 4:56pm by dan81892

genius.........

#151 - On 08/22/2009 at 12:46am by Guitarist45

would it make you feel better if i said he probably did that coz you didn't give him the right letters to spell yes?

you should've given him an option at least. a yes or no cupcake at the bottom never hurt anyone.

#152 - On 08/25/2009 at 6:33am by Kupokupupo

What a butt-head! Maybe you embarrassed him? Who knows. Boys are so weird.

#155 - On 09/09/2009 at 12:49am by GypsyGeek

but you'll have to admit, that was pretty clever!

#159 - On 12/14/2009 at 6:15pm by Becca_Barakat

Sorry but I let the guys come to me, I don't go to school with a whole box of cupcakes to find out he wouldn't like me anywayz.

#160 - On 01/31/2010 at 8:56pm by Unwanted4ever

Well at least you know he can spell.

#161 - On 02/11/2010 at 12:23am by peter55
