Sue for damages, if the blokes had any decency they would have offer to pay for a new one anyway.
They better be payin for that
You know pinks not that bad a color, and besideds it could be a hot new look!
#6 - On 04/21/2009 at 10:09am by TWlCH
Wow, fyl. How can anyone say you deserved it?
On a side note who walkes around with a thing of red liquid just incase you see someone you know?
#8 - On 04/21/2009 at 10:12am by TWlCH
Bleach will easily get out red dye. Soak the dress in 1 part bleach, 3 parts water. If that doesn't work, add a little more. And run the dress through the washer with detergent and bleach.
It's not the end of the world.
I hope you caught at least one of them to make his parents pay for a new dress. Had I been there I would have snagged the nearest one and dragged him bodily to the nearest cop.
I agree with #7. "Its totaly your fault for sporting that white dress on a nice day in the park you had it coming!" people are stupid.
Agree with 6, a spring red dress is totally hot! Just dye the fuck out of it, and you'll look smoking. However, it is incredibly random that people walk around with red liquid on them. XD
#5 - LMAO!
Wow that really sucks I hope you're able to get them to buy you a new one.
#13 - On 04/21/2009 at 10:17am by Chris968
Wow, that sucks. I hope you got it off your skin as well. Make 'em pay!
#14 - On 04/21/2009 at 10:19am by missanneelk
wicked shitty... I'd make them buy you a new dress.
Who wears a $200 dress when they are walking in the park?
Aw. Just dye it red?

WAIT, people deserve to get things dumped on them because they are walking in a park?
wtf is wrong with this world?
Have they learned nothing from 'Carrie'?
Now you should telepathically murder them.lmao!
You can sue for assault if you can find out who any of them are. That is a huge d-bag thing to do even if they did know you.
so now you have a lovely $200 red dress, stop complaining.
omg. I would be sooooo angry. I damn well hope they buy you a new one...
In the mean time you need to soak that dress in COLD water with some salt and good stain remover powder... you might be lucky?
Okay... can all the male commenters please STFU.
yeah like omg seriously, only girls are allowed to comment on this one!
wtf 26? (haven't read the comments...so maybe they're saying some stuff that you don't like...i don't know your reasons..)
24 -> keepin it real/optimisitic
If you dye it completely red, you'll have a sexy red dress!
um, you could take it to a good cleaners and ask if they dye stuff. Then you can try to have a beautiful red $200 dress!
:D
I mean, id be pissed too, but try to look at the bright side you know...
I hope you turned around, soaking wet, and kicked their asses so hard you caused internal bleeding.
Dresses of just about any color are hot.
was it PETA? they ruined my grandma's antique mink scarf and a judge threw the case out of court on account that PETA "never intended to damage any goods, only to exhibit their beliefs that fur is wrong"
lol at #26 and 27 XD
Anyways you could always sue them and hopefully someone you know can wash it out. If not maybe you could dye it completely red?
#33 - On 04/21/2009 at 11:05am by someone1989
Another possibility: They knew it was you. FYL.
i would have called the police. pouring something all over someone you don't know is akin to assault. especially if there were personal damages, like a ruined dress
Why would they even do that to someone they knew?
I hope you're making them pay for it.
I hope you hurt them bad and got your money back from the little bastards. Why would they do that to anyone?
So you slaughtered them mercilessly, right?
am i the only one who is wondering why you were wearing a $200 white dress in the park...
#41 - On 04/21/2009 at 11:19am by dizzzane
#9 Washer + Detergent + Bleach on a $200 dress? Eep.
But anyway. Seriously what an idiotic thing to do, pouring red dye over someone, regardless of whether they knew them or not. Water, sure. But red dye? Why? =/
I don't see how she deserves this. Even if she wasn't sporting a $200 white dress, it could have just as easily been $200 worth of textbooks she was carrying, or something of sentimental value.
#9 (et. al.) - Not all materials can just be bleached. Besides, bleach weakens fabric and can cause it to rip more easily, so if this dress is made of a fine weave or something like silk, it's not that simple to get the stain out.
I'd try a dry cleaner - at the expense of the douchebags who dumped the red liquid on you.
And seriously, why does anyone care who much she spends on clothing? Have any of you ever been to New York? There are tons of people walking around Central Park in clothing way more expensive than this.
Did you chase them down and beat the shit out of them until you got their names? Or at least followed them home to tell their parents?
FYL, but turn the situation around, and dye the whole dress red. Red is a good color.
Man people on here say sue every other FML.
(I'm #26)
@27 - MOST of the male commenters in this thread know nothing about expensive clothing, females, and fashion. Therefore, they have nothing to contribute because 1) Bleach + $200 dress is automatic fail and 2) getting red shit poured over an expensive dress does not make it a "lovely $200 red dress."
#47. People are just making jokes about a $200 red dress. Get over it.
Also, instead of coming on FML to bitch about getting dye poured on you why didn't you do something about it like get the police or talk to the people.
Don't you know you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day or before Memorial Day?
Yeah, $200 dollar dress usually means very delicate material and dry clean only. Bleach may not be an option. Of course, if it's simply designer linen, that's another story. Similarly, on the dye - not all fabrics take dye equally, and if the dress involved lace, detailing, beading, draped fabric, etc., dying it red may not be an option either.
A good dry cleaner's on your attackers' dime is probably the best option.
As for why she was walking in the park in an expensive dress, maybe she just left a formal event somewhere else. For that matter, maybe there was an outdoor wedding or a photo shoot in the park. Or maybe she was heading to a taxi stand. It doesn't sound that implausible.
you are lying. a bunch of boys who were walking around with red dye just happened to think some lady in a white dress was their friend??
@#8 REALLY??? REALLY????? Obviously they were doing it as a prank and expecting someone they know. Do you seriously think it was just random?
Well, now you have a $200 red dress!
That does suck ): But I have to wonder what you were wearing the dress for, since it wasn't important enough to mention? If you were going to/coming from a formal event, I feel for you, and FYL - but if you were just showing off your $200 dress, YDI. Don't wear expensive clothes for a walk in the park.
wow that sucks!!! i hope u made them pay u back for the dress!!!
This comment has been moderated.
That was assault. Sue the fuckers.
#58 - On 04/21/2009 at 12:06pm by B00
For whoever is giving you a hard time about wearing an expensive dress, STFU. I have a lot of dresses that are at least that much that I wear when I'm doing nothing - I have a $700 Missoni dress for just wearing around, for example - and you know what? It's better than spending that much money on a formal dress, because you get to wear it more than once. Why NOT wear expensive clothes for a walkin the park? Mot of the clothes some people own are expensive. I would rather have a few nice pieces than 80 different target t-shirts, though I realize that probably puts me in the minority on this website. And besides, it's not like there's a reasonable expectation that you're going to be soaked in red shit while you're walking through the park. I'm pretty sure no one came up to her after her and said, "Well, you knew it was 'get hit with red shit day,' so you should have dressed accordingly."
Tell those guys they're paying for a new one, or take them to small claims court.
Make the bastards buy you a new dress.
I'm so sorry about that. D: What assholes! They should've made sure it was someone they knew first, and made sure that someone wouldn't be mad at them for doing that.
#59, you see people giving the OP crap about it, so why are you setting yourself up for worse?
#46, a lot of FMLs are about idiots wrecking things, which they should have to pay for.
#56 - how are you going to make a comment like that at a website where EVERYTHING is based off of complaining?
Wow, it was obviously a thing of red gatorade, people. They were probably playing basketball or something and brought it with them.
Why were you wearing an espnsive white dress to the park?
And those kids aren't too bright but this isn't and grounds to sue.
some people are so DUMB! i would be sooooo mad
That really sucks.
I'd freak out if someone threw liquid over me, because that's what they do if they're planning to set you on fire apparently :/
Now you have a pretty red dress.
#68 - On 04/21/2009 at 1:02pm by suckstobeyou3
have you ever heard of bleach?
what is wrong with wearing white? you people are ridic. White is a classy color on all skin tones and anyone with a rudimentary sense of responsibility and cleanliness can keep it pristine. So stfu about her wearing a white dress.
Girls look hot in dresses, and they look especially hot in nice dresses. It is not her fault for taking care in her appearance, and it is not her fault she happened to be enjoying a nice day around some random guys who suck at pranks.
I hope you beat their asses and made them pay for the damage. Take their money and go buy an even nicer dress!
Another thing. Why were you wearing such an expensive dress in the park? Where people bring their dogs? And little kids run around like maniacs?
#71 - On 04/21/2009 at 1:13pm by suckstobeyou3
Why would you wear a $200 WHITE dress to the park?
#22, yes!
but yes, this really does suck. FYL.
ohh my good.. this does suck!!!!
id have killed them..
a $200 white dress??? OMG
FYL.
btw, im so sorry for ur dress..
#75 - On 04/21/2009 at 1:39pm by donnatella
those little bastards had better buy you a new dress. how can anyone think you deserve that?? people are so stupid.
WFT- why would any1 do that. That's so messed up.
I say you should find them and sue their asses.
btw #11, she/he said "how could anyone say you deserve this?" you should be one to call people stupid.
ugh. this isn't funny. fml is supposed to be funny.
FYL. But just think...
You could be a starving dying/kid in Africa. You're not. Shut the hell up moaning and get on with your life.
Use RIT dye remover. It's gentler than chlorine bleach and is targeted for removing dye.
http://www.ritdye.com/Fabric+Treatments.28.51.7.49.lasso
At first, like others I wondered why someone would be wearing a $200 white dress while walking in the park, but then I read the comments before writing my own and realized that for all any of us know, the OP was dressed up for a formal occasion and decided to take a walk in the park....maybe it was a nice day and the park in question is like Central Park or something.
You are pretty limited on space when you submit an FML, so it is not like she could tell us the entire story.
Also, to the ones complaining that she said how much the dressed cost, well, to me, that is vital info for it clearly being an FML. Not that anyone deserves to have dye dumped on them, but a $20 dress getting ruined is definitely different than a $200 dress.
Also, as others mentioned, it is a white dress and is bound to get some stains on it, but how many people go to the store and think "wow, I better not buy this white piece of clothing because someone might throw red dye on me"?
The OP definitely did NOT deserve this and I hope those idiots either pay to have the dressed cleaned (if it is possible to be fixed) or buy her a new one.
#82 - On 04/21/2009 at 2:21pm by patray_angel
those boys are so inconsiderate. make. them. pay.
hmm...crushed balls should've soon followed. and them buying you a new dress...$300 this time!
OHMYGAWD A WHITE DRESS OH NOES D:
yeah forget the recession, nothing big you know?
I would have made them pay for it. Seriously.
aww shit, they better have been sorry
#47, your comment is horrifically retarded. I don't doubt some of the people making the comments of "bleach it!" are female.
Poor OP. Hopefully you got them to pay you back or something for ruining your dress.
why were you wearing a $200 white dress while walking in the park?
why do you dress in such an expensive dress just to go out for a walk? kind of sick. try bleach, it should work.
YDI for wearing an expensive dress around idiots.
#92 - On 04/21/2009 at 3:22pm by Person_Man
why the hell do u randomly walk through a park in a 200$ white dress? thats what i'd like to knoww.
#93 - On 04/21/2009 at 3:24pm by swmr4lyfe3
So the Brood did this to you, huh? Fake.
#82 you are a douche. Quit trying to make good, logical sense out of this terribly pathetic story. Who the fuck cares if she was formally dressed for a purpose and chose to wear that to the park for some reason we don't know about... this is a poorly organized forum for people to complain about life's problems and i think everyone would agree, we could have lived without hearing this one. you are just a fucking idiot if someone ruined that dress (which i doubt is true) and all you did was post this lame story on FML... take some action and go choke a bitch or something
#96 - On 04/21/2009 at 3:55pm by dizzzane
O.o Maybe she doesn't look as good in red as she does in white....or she doesn't like red or pink. That sucks though. Who ever did that should have really offered to pay....
Wow #96, your the one who is a douche. You probably never bought something nice in your life by yourself. Spoiled brat.
#98 - On 04/21/2009 at 4:04pm by Dusa
Make them pay for it, don't get the law involved.
#43....i'm sorry that we're not all rich people like you who thinks $200 isn't a big deal...i'm also sorry for never going to central park since thats someplace that obviously everyone has to go to
All I'm gonna say is that people could save a good hundred characters by not telling us that red dye doesn't come out of white dresses. No, really?
#80 you could say that to most people on this website.
i would have kicked their ass and made them by me a new one
my takee on the fml is she got a new nice spring dress and some boys were gonna play a prank on a similar looking girl who was/supposed to be wearing a white dress. they mistaked the girls and poured the dye on the wrong person. FYL
so it doesnt sem that fake guys, 200 isnt that bad for a dress. so what if it was white-its a pretty spring color, and maybe she was going/coming from somewhere, or maybe like me she can keep a white dress clean when going on a walk [through the park]
#105 - On 04/21/2009 at 4:47pm by dancin303
Its easy to solve the poster we all give our advice to, law suit, kick ass etc.... that person who never reads the comments should post a link a photo of the ruined $200 dress.. Sounds like it could have been a simple exageration. Real story is probably, " walked in park with my old white t shirt and some young kid messed ketchup on my t shirt." But that would not have made FML so had to add some value to the $2 dolar shirt and make a smudge of ketchup into bucket of dye...
uhm who walks in the park wearing a $200 dress? thats bullcrap. if not, then ydi.
#107 - On 04/21/2009 at 4:59pm by zomgitsclare
You now have a $200 RED dress. :D
ok look as i said i am really really sorry ok im really really sorry ahh shit udk how bad i feel i mean i thought you were someone we knew AHHH
now you have a $200 red dress?.... wow! People actually said that one... -is out of witty come-backs-
for all the people who said they should sue, do you realize how much of a hassel it is to get a lawsuit? be realistic.
also, when people say you have a nice red dress now, its not going to be evenly dyed on the dress, so technically it is not a nice 200 dollar dress.
im just saying..
I hope they pay for your dress because that is just awful.
#111 - On 04/21/2009 at 5:20pm by amb22
#111, well maybe she can go to judge Judy or something, but i do agree that it wont be evenly dyed cause i accidentally bleached my shorts and they came out uneven at parts.
Also, you should have tried to catch them!!
For all the people having a go at the OP for wearing an expensive dress... So what? If she can afford dresses that cost $200 then great. She certainly didn't deserve getting red stuff chucked all over her.
Yes they should pay for it, if that's not a possibility take it to a dry cleaners and ask for advice. If you can't get the dye out. Dye it red. I'm sure it will look lovely.
Now you have a $200 red dress!
... but seriously they should pay for it.
And they aren't paying for the cost of your dress because? Assholes, who would even do that to a friend.
I'd have made them pay for it.
But uh, who walks around a park with a bucket of red liquid??
to the comments about why would you have a $200 dress meh meh meh?
if you can afford a dress like that and you feel good when you wear it, why not wear it all the time? it doesn't necessarily mean they're spoiled and superficial.
and that sucks :\ I really hope you can get it cleaned or something.
#119 - On 04/21/2009 at 5:55pm by reetah
why would you were a 200 dollar dress at a park anyway? o_O
lol
keep it as a pink one
SUE THEIR ASSES! for the cost of the dress and harassment!
BLEACH. And #42, people do it all the time. $200 dresses are roughly the same quality as a dress $80-$150. Trust me , I would know. Bleach doesn't come with a warning saying "Do not use on garments upwards of $100." It's made for CLOTHES, which said dress is...so, OP, go bleach that shit according to #9's directions and move on. FYL, btw... I can't how you would've deserved this.
see it positively now u have a 200$ red dress
You do have the new red dress as people say, but still sue them, it will teach them a lesson.
wow, i love how there are 125 posts saying the exact same 6 things.
1. now you have a red/pink dress
2. try bleaching/dying it.
3. sue them
4. Who would have a 200 dollar dress
5. who walks around the park with red liquid
6. and i lied, there are only 5 things. but i do like #96. Go choke a bitch and take care of it
make them buy you a new one. :[
Unreal. Who walks around the park with a bucket with red liquid, and what IDIOT wears a 200 dollar white dress to the park?
well that really sucks. a 200$ white dress. alotta dresses are really expensive so why shud it matter tht she was wearing a DRESS in the park? she could of been going somewhere!
i didnt read all the comments so im sure someone has already said this, but why were you wearing a $200 dress at the park??? maybe i'm just cheap but thats way too much to pay for just an everyday dress...
#131 - On 04/21/2009 at 7:23pm by curious2090
For all of you harassing her about the cost of the dress - $200 isn't all that much, and why the fuck shouldn't she be able to wear something nice to the park?
It doesn't matter whether it was $20 or $2000 - the douchbags with the dye deserved an ass kicking - who decides "I'm going to ruin my friend's clothes and day" and thinks the friend is going to be ok with it? Let alone some random stranger - if you're going to pull a douchebag move, at least get your target right.
wow that is just.....wow
make them pay for it.
wearing a 200 dollar white dress in a park? are you a prostitute?
how in hell does that happen? the 'coincidence' is unreal
If you got or can get their names, you can take them to small claims court for that.
#101 - Wow, take things personally much?
I don't own a single dress that cost $200, but I don't give a shit if someone else does. If she can afford it, good for her. Maybe it was a splurge, or bought for a special occasion...you don't know.
And New York is the most popular tourist destination in the United States. It's not unreasonable to think that a significant number of people reading this have been to or seen Central Park...or NYC in general, since it's an area in which people tend to wear expensive clothing every day.
i'm giving u the benefit of the doubt and assuming u were going somewhere, bcuz there is no way i would go 2 the park in a $50 dress. i would never b anywhere close 2 affording that. good 4 u that u can get $200 ^^
anyhoo, that sux!!! DO NOT BLEACH IT!!! u could ruin it!!! i'm not sure whether u should dye it or not...but definitely try the dry-cleaners.
Bleach?? Or get the $200 of the fuckers and buy a new one...
Where do you live that they don't make bleach? Any light color other than white and you would be F'd, but anything comes out of white with bleach
why the fuck were u wearing a
$200 dress in a park??
wow. that effing SUCKS. i'm sorry. don't listen to these people who are saying your dress is too expensive, it wasn't your fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time!
well now u have a red one....
This comment has been moderated.
yo why would u wear a 200$ dress in a park in the first place
....Well i guess you have a red dress now!
Haha, #22.
I totally thought of Carrie when I read this, too.
I have to agree that #59 has a point. If your clothing is a) quality and b) looks good on you, it's going to cost a little more. You're also going to get more wear out of it than a $10 t-shirt that just sorta hangs, or clearance rack jeans that don't fit quite right. This is why I wear designer jeans, and only designer jeans. They're $70 a pair - on sale, at a 50% markoff (I never buy them full price), but for the way they fit, and for how long they last, they're totally worth it. If I were still growing and my weight was in a state of flux, spending this much on casual clothes would be stupid, since they'd only last one season. But I'm about to turn 21, and I still have pairs I bought in high school. Good quality, classic articles of clothing can be considered an investment.
They owe you $200. Even if you WERE someone they knew, what kind of idiots pour red liquid all over someone in a white dress in public??
Yeah...they owe you $200.
#27 "yeah like omg seriously" - I would love to punch you.
The moral of the story: Never wear white dresses when walking through the park.
#27 "yeah like omg seriously" - I would love to punch you.
Reminds me of the movie Carrie
they better pay for your dress!
people walk in white dresses all the time; should we always be prepared for boys holding buckets of red dye? FYL fasho. thye beter have paid for it somehow!
File a police report and get your damage paid for! Then dye the old one another color yeeeuh! 2 dresses for your trouble!
ROFL! Think on the brightside...
Now you have a $200 Red dress!
#134- what kind of prostitute wears $200 dresses? dumbass.
also, you people need to learn the difference between your and you're. If you are old enough to type and read FML you are old enough to know the basics of the English language. Stop looking like idiots.
if it's white, can't you just bleach it?
Bleach. You should have made them pay you for the dress, though I can see being too upset to think about it.
#163 - On 04/22/2009 at 4:18pm by drs
thank god for bleach? there's a solution...but that does still suck.
think on the bright side, now you have a new red dress.
i'm sure it was just an accident, but why wouldn't they offer to pay for dry cleaning or something?
i guess people just suck.
#165 - On 04/22/2009 at 8:27pm by random_thought
#59, why don't you STFU and go donate some of your overflowing disposable income to charity, or something? Must be nice to drop $700 on a dress to "just wear around". Go brag about your expensive crap somewhere else.
But anyway, it seems like whoever this woman was mistaken for has really crappy friends. Regardless of the price or colour of the dress, why would you dump red paint/dye on someone? I would think a bucket of water would suffice for a prank.
i can not believe the number of people who are ripping this woman apart for wearing a moderatly expensive dress through a park. clearly she has a spectacular sense of style. most of those comments belonged to men, but to the ladies who said the cost of the dress was ridiculous..well you should all be ashamed of yourselves.
i'm so sorry about your dress dear! that's awful of those boys. i really hope you have a terrific dry cleaner who can get it out! it would be horrendous for a great dress to be ruined by such a childish prank. best of luck!
Now... you have a red dress.
This is why we have bleach, cheers.
Ack at people saying she has a nice red dress. As if dye poured over the head would magically make it a good looking red dress :P. If you can, getting it properly dyed afterwards -would- make it into a nice red dress though (provided the material takes dye well).
#123 - Yeah, of course its for clothes (unless you're stupid enough to use industrial bleach which I'm really assuming most people wouldn't) =/. I suppose its just that personally I would take something like that to the drycleaners as opposed to throwing it into a washing machine with detergent and bleach. Then again if the dress is made of a tough material then it doesn't matter I guess.
... who runs around a park with a bucket of "red liquid"? wtf?
I second the RIT dye remover! I used it on my white denim shorts when they got turned pink in the laundry (from a bunch of red towels), and it worked like a charm!!!
omg i would be soo pissed!!!
Well if you have nothing to wear, I'd put on a nice clean LAWSUIT
That really sucks. I gave you a FYL, but seriously, $200 for a dress? WHY?!
OMFG·that really sucks alot, Must have been a Designer dress for it to be 200$ eh?
you should have hugged them and passed the red joy they brought upon your lovely dress =3
Well now you have a $200 red dress
#180 - On 06/02/2009 at 4:20pm by Ear
Carrie, anyone?
#182 - On 06/28/2009 at 7:23pm by Lady_Chantelle

#183 - On 07/11/2009 at 3:40am by FHD
You say you live in the UK but you say you paid dollars for it? Did you go and buy it from America or something?
And why the FUCK would you buy a $200 dress anyway?
YDI for walking through a park in a $200 dress for whatever reason
just dye the dress red, end of problem.
now it's a $200 red dress!
well, now atleast you have a red dress
