Today, I took the bus to work and a sweet old lady got on after me and sat next to me. Halfway to work, she fell asleep and her head was on my shoulder. Trying to be nice, I gently tried to wake her up before my stop came. She wasn't sleeping. I let a dead woman lie on me for 30 minutes. FML

#43- maybe for someone who's worked in the healthcare industry, it's easy to tell, but I know that I've had trouble telling the difference before. My grandpa died in his sleep on the couch and I spent like fifteen minutes trying to wake him up before I realized.

Shit happens that is pretty hard to believe, and especially on this site, it's near impossible to be sure your source is credible. So people post their stories, either because they want to share it for funsies, they need to tell SOMEONE, they want attention, they're curious about how ridiculous they can make it, whatever the motivation may be. If you don't think the stories here are true and that pisses you off, don't come to this site. If the poster really is just looking for attention (as you all seem to be so concerned about), a piddly little self-loathing site isn't going to hurt or help them much. Let it go, it's really not that big a deal, stop being a drama-llama.
Personally, I think this story is kind of funny. Yeah someone died, but it was a little old lady, not a toddler, and it was peaceful. Everyone's going to die eventually, and the woman who did got a pretty sweet deal: live to a ripe old age, die in your sleep. If it were me who died, and if consciousness does extend past the expiration of one's physical body, I'd be thinking it was pretty funny too. But, like I said, that's a personal opinion; I just find it very hard to get terribly upset when old things die. *prepares to be eaten alive by everyone who disagrees, because that's what we do on this site*

okay after finally getting through the web of comments, I have but a few things to say:
First off, I think most of these people have never been on a public bus, they are bumpy, you are jostled about. So if she was laying on him, he was the reason she didn't fall forward or to the side giving her a weird or obvious position that he wold have known something was wrong. Plus if the op had on his ipod then he wouldn't pay attention to the old lady..
Secondly, if her bladder was empty and she had a bowl movement before she got on the bus, then she would not have deficated on herself right a way.
Lastly, I am so sorry to the op, I saw a dead body once at a funeral home, while it was being embalmed. It totally freaked me out (it's been almost been 10 years and I still see him), I hope you will be spared of this curse.

You know why this is going to get some YDI's? Because yesterday I was looking at FML with some of my friends, and we ran across the one about the girl who paid for her mom's cruise but wouldn't let her borrow her red dress, and her mom called her bitch who'd be single for the rest of her life. My friend says, "Hmm... I think I'll click YDI." And he did! For the hell of it. So that's why there's always a few YDI's for every FML, even if it really IS an FML.
By the way, this FML is really pretty damn creepy and weird. It's awful and absurd. Which is why I can see some people replying with LOL, because I often laugh at the absurd, even if it macabre and tragic.
You couldn't tell she wasn't breathing?

hey hey hey guys come on now..this is a sad story yes, but the humour aspect definitly plays a factor in it for some of us! we all have different persomalities so we all view this differently! why rip eachother apart based on the factor of anger at different principle views? lets show a little respect for the poor lady who passed on to a better place, and also for the young man/lady who posted this. i hope your doing alright after what you went through.

in all reality i probably would have been extremely shaken up.. i would go home, lay in bed and shudder all over, and then cry... thinking the entire time "she died while sitting next to me, she laid on my shoulder while dead.. she died next to me" and eventually i would probably vomit, be utterly traumatized...
i'd sat FHL. but at least she's not suffering any more...

If this is sincere and real, then I feel sorry for the person on the bus. But I agree with others, that that's a really sweet way for an old lady to pass. Well not really sweet... It's very surreal to say the least. I'm assuming it'll stay with you for the rest of your life as a vivid memory, and hopefully it'll remind you of the intricate beauty of life
