Worst roommate ever

Tonday, I spent the night in my car because I didn’t want to go home as I just gave my roommate a 30-day eviction notice. My girlfriend is spending the night at a friend's, and I’m too cheap to get a hotel room. FML

For one night, that's ok, but what about the next 29? And what about your stuff? Without you there, he can deposit whatever bodily fluids or excrement anywhere he wants.

While I get that OP is reluctant to face their roommate that they gave notice to, you just left your stuff there with no one to prevent them from damaging your stuff or the apartment itself. Some people are more “brave” in their letters or electronic postings, while being less “brave” face to face. I get the impression this is OP’s case. “Diplomacy” is the ability to give a person bad news without coming off as being judgmental or negative. While a letter or document gives you the chance to be very careful with you words, it doesn’t give you the ability to respond to the other person’s reactions. OP this is likely to be a long 30 days and nothing will make it pleasant. You are going to have to face up to dealing with the roommate you are evicting. Assuming you have your own bedroom, I suggest making sure your bedroom has a functioning lock - Ideally the kind that requires a key.
