Today, my fiancé and I moved into a new home a few houses away from our previous one. We were excited about not hearing our roommate's dog howling non-stop anymore. We can hear him from the new house. Very clearly. FML

OP: Um, really? You never made sure that you could NOT hear the dog barking BEFORE you bought your new house? YDI....

If it was only a couple houses away how would that make the howl stop?

Buy an air horn and whenever the mutt starts barking use the thing. Most dogs hate loud noises and it will make them stop. Worked like magic every time I've tried it. Of course your neighbors won't like it very much

at least the dog isn't howling in the same building you are

Well, yeah. It's a dog. Their barks and howls are meant to travel pretty decent distances. You chose to move only a few houses away. This should be a no brainier.

why did you think you wouldn't hear him when you were still so close?

holy god. Are you guys stupid or what? of course you can still hear it.
