Today, my father passed away. I called my boss to let him know about the situation. His only response before hanging up: "Shit, dude. Well, I'll see you in the morning, these reports won't write themselves." FML

Yeah, and heartbreak doesn't fix itself either

I'd honestly quit cuz I wouldn't want to work for an insensitive asshole like him. But you do what's best for you OP, sorry for your loss.

Wow. Your boss is an insensitive jerk. Sorry for your loss op.

You should quit, no matter how good the money is. You can't be working for people like him

Wow that is so ****** up, **** your boss seriously...I just would not show up and take the time I need and then find another job. You dont need to be around people like that.

What a dick. sorry for your loss hun ❤️

Can companies fire you for missing work after the death of an immediate family member? Seems like there would be some law about that..

not in Canada they can't. There are bereavement leave laws here, you cannot be penalised for taking leave after the death of an immediate family. However that said I'd still be looking for another job as I personally wouldn't want to work for such an insensitive prick.

In "right to work" states in the U.S. they can. Even though it's still regarded as a very poor choice.

Canada doesn't have states let or "right to work" provincec

My condolences! Your boss is an ass.
