Today, my boyfriend woke up wheezing terribly, aching, and sneezing. He's allergic to cats. I have 2 and they are my babies. He gave me an ultimatum, him or the cats. I haven't figured out how I'm going to tell him that I choose the cats. FML

I think you made the right decision. I've had my cat since before she was weaned (she was an orphaned kitten) and if I had to choose between a man and my cat, I'd choose the cat. She was here first. Also, from the human-human (as opposed to human-animal) standpoint, giving up your beloved pet for the sake of a relationship with a person is probably going to make you resent that person.

I don't think it's retarded at all. Clearly the relationship isn't going to work too well if she already needs to hold the resentment of getting rid of her cats towards him. An animal lover should not be in a relationship with a person who can't support it either due to their own animal hatred, or allergies. If I was in a relationship with a man who hates dogs, then I'd end it then and there. I've had dogs my entire life and I love them to death, no man will stop that. There are plenty other fish in the sea, as they say.
