The surprise was he’d moved out, dumped me, and cut me off from his share of the bills, because he’s not interested in marriage and babies. I can’t afford the rent by myself so I’m going to have to move back to my mother's. FML

From your extra info OP, it sounds like he isn't exactly planning ahead for a future with you. And if you're needy, why would he avoid that? Don't stay with him just because you're scared to lose someone else, stay with him if he makes you happy. Cut him out if he doesn't.

I'd be pretty convinced he doesn't actually care to commit to me and that he's cheating, if it happened to me. I don't often say this, but I'd leave that "boyfriend" if it were me.
