Today, my boss bitched me out for doing some random web browsing while waiting for some documents I needed to arrive, then went back to his desk and went on Facebook, thinking I couldn't see. FML

Today, my boss yelled at me for having Facebook open at work. That's fine, I closed it and continued on with my work. In a meeting later on I could see the reflection of my boss's laptop screen in a mirror behind her desk. For two hours, I watched her scroll through her Facebook feed. FML

Today, my boss yelled at me for visiting Facebook on my work computer. He says that since I can't be trusted, I'll be supervised from now on. I was uploading pictures to the company's Facebook page, which I have to do once a week as part of my job. FML

Today, I was caught going on Facebook at work. I was called into my boss's office to be reprimanded, and while he was lecturing me on the importance of staying focussed and the misuse of company property, his computer beeped. It was his Facebook chat notifying him of a new message. FML

Today, my boss called me while I was working from home to bitch me out over being away from my computer for 49 minutes, when my lunch break is only 45 minutes, thus wasting another 13 minutes. My boss is known for spending hours online gaming from home during work hours. FML

Today, my boss told me I can't use the computer for entertainment. This coming from the same person who spends hours at a time every day on Facebook and other similar websites. I'm also not allowed to sit down while using the computer, which I use about half of the day. FML

Today, a random customer at work admonished my coworker for being on her phone. During our lunch break. As he walked away, my coworker muttered, "What the fuck is his problem?" I nodded in agreement. He heard her and saw me nodding. As did our boss. Time to get written up. FML

Today, I was working on entering a lot of information in the system. When I'd finished, I closed the screen to move on to the next steps, my boss came by to see how I was doing, just in time to see me looking at a now-blank screen. I'm convinced that my boss thinks I closed a screen that wasn't work related. FML

Your boss can do what he wants, because he's THE boss. He can take a random time off, show up late, or not even show up at all. He might be lazy or the biggest ass ever! Yea, unfair right? That's the perk of being a boss though. You, on the other hand, are being paid by your boss to do your job. If you want to have the right to browse the web while on the job, then I suggest finding another boss that will allow that or being your own boss. That's simply the way it is.

I'm so glad you said that. Authority doesn't mean anything to people anymore. The boss can do what he wants with his time and it's none of his employees business. However, what the employees do is his business... Get over yourselves people. You choose where you work, and if you don't like what your boss is doing, freakin find another job.

His boss may not be the one writing the checks. He could just be a supervisor appointed by someone else. And while, yes, having authority she's does give one more freedom to do as one pleases at work, the best leaders lead by example. This FML, and the reactions it has incited, just goes to show what a bad policy it is for a boss to do what he tells his employees not to do. It fosters disrespect and poor morale.
