My boss doesn't email me when I don't have to work. In fact, she doesn't email me at all. We always communicate face-to-face, unless one of us is ill, in which case, we call. She even came to my apartment to tell me that I had the job. And that's also the beginning of the story of how my boss started dating my roommate's dad. The wedding is in April. If anyone has a good excuse to get me out of it, but one that won't get me fired, I'd really appreciate it.
