Today, I was having a panic attack so I went to my mum for support. She blocked her ears because my heavy breathing was annoying her. FML

Hey OP here It's interesting reading all the comments that you guys are writing. It's interesting how a lot of you are saying that my mum has misophonia, which i agree with since she always gets annoyed when she hears me chewing, sneezing or just making loud, repetitive noises, but it still hurt me that she did that. She does have her own problems with anxiety herself, but at the time she was just watching tv so i went and sat next to her. We are pretty close but there is a bit of a communication gap here and there. I get a lot of anxiety due to the fact that i am a transgender boy and i'm going through a lot. Therapy and medication don't seem to help my anxiety though. Thx for the support.

FYL OP, but shouldn't your mother know what your panic attacks are like? I see some serious communication problems here that should be fixed.

I'm sorry OP, as someone who deals with anxiety, SAD, and panic attacks on a regular basis I know how it feels to not have someone there for you. It truly sucks

I guess you have to start having silent panic attacks, like that's a thing.

As someone that has experienced depression and anxiety myself, I can tell you that it's not easy on family and friends. Having the stress of your own life along with a loved one having a serious problem and then that horribly irritating noise that puts you over the edge can be enough to just block your ears and want to scream. Mental illness doesn't just effect the people that have it!

My mom just recently did that to me. She's terrible!

sorry you're going through so much. always stay true to yourself :)

Try starting a Tumblr. Plenty of other folks in similar situations there that you can draw support from.

Instead of getting butthurt, try to understand where SHE'S coming from. Not eveyrone's gonna stop their lives just for you.

I think it was pretty shitty of your mom to do that, especially since she has anxiety problems herself. One would think she'd be sympathetic since she's most likely been there herself, but she chose the bitch route. I wish you luck in your struggles, OP.

Yep, that's misophonia. Well, sorry that she responded really badly to being triggered but... It happens. Tell her to join the groups on facebook, check out the new magazine (Misophonia International), and so on.
