Today, I spent an hour painstakingly disassembling my antique mirror after discovering a stack of papers behind the back board. I finally got hold of one corner, and pulled out - a newspaper from 2007 and instructions for an IKEA bed. FML

Were you expecting it to be a treasure map?

My theory is that they stuffed it with useless paper to keep it from rubbing. That would be practical. IKEA instructions are basically newspapers themselves

if that was me unless I was missing some important documents or something I'd have left their lil paper butts right there

So much for the 'antique' attribute of the mirror....

Well you now have a place for a time capsule...

It sucks that you wasted hours doing that, but the papers were probably just stuffed back there because the mirror is a little loose.

Ok. This is what you do. Replace the newspapers and the Ikea instructions. Then also place inside it a newspaper for today's date, some instructions to put together something else (whatever you have on hand, really), and a coded message. You then put it all back together, and take the mirror to the nearest Goodwill donation or antique dealer. Leave it for someone else to discover further down the line. :)

you mean ... instructions for an ANTIQUE IKEA bed ! ;)

I would have read that newspaper so good. It's always cool to remember what's happened in the past.
