Today, I returned home after a four day weekend at my parents' house. Upon entering by the front door, a horrid stench assaulted my nose. Hours later I still cannot find the source of the foul odor. I'm starting to wonder if this is how it's always smelled without my knowing. FML

Today, I found the source of the bad smell that has been plaguing me for the past two weeks in my apartment. The police knocked on my door asking if I've seen my neighbor recently. I haven't. The smell has been that of a dead person. It's a smell that even Febreze can't remove. FML

Today, I realized my morbidly obese, sweaty sibling is the source of a strange waft I've been smelling when I get home. He'll only shower once a week, so the apartment and furniture smell like sweat and sometimes poo, especially on hot days. I didn't notice until I went outside and stepped back in to follow my nose. FML

Today, I walked into the house only to be greeted by the strongest smell of dung. I asked my mom about it, and it turns out she's been airing these strange herbs throughout the house, most of which are in my bedroom. She won't let me open the window. FML

Today, I opened my front door to be greeted by what I can only describe as the stink of death. After moving furniture and lifting floorboards, frantically searching for whatever had died, I finally discovered the actual source of the stench - my girlfriend's feet. FML

Today, after weeks of looking for the source of an awful smell in our house, I found out our dog has been climbing over our loft banister, into the attic, and shitting. There were over twenty mounds. It took me almost four hours to clean up, and it still stinks. FML

Today, I came home from a two-week vacation. When I walked into my house, I found cat poop everywhere. It took me several hours to clean it all up, and the house still smells terrible. The worst part is that I've never owned a cat in my life. FML

If the smell is still there after a week, something may have died in your walls. I'd call an exterminator and see if they can do something

Not if you use complementary scents! I used tarts that smell like baking goods where I can and sprays that smell like baking goods in the other areas. I've had lots of people over (even sold my last home recently and one of the comments everyone left was that the house smelled delicious!).

I bet it's a left over smell from weird cooking. My roommate did chili last night and it was *horrible* smelling! I used Febreze everywhere and the smell still lingers. She thought it was a normal smell. :/

It depends on what you end up cooking. Anything with garlic in it is bound to stick around for a few weeks, especially garlic bread. However, if it's something you enjoy smelling when you come home (after I make homemade curry for dinner, the genuinely blissful smell sticks around for a few weeks), then it's not a big deal. Just don't hang around coworkers or parents who can't stand the stuff; they'll be able to smell it on you long after you've stopped eating the food.
