Today, I joined a new choir. My director asked me if my best friend was actually my girlfriend. Taken aback, I said no, I was not a lesbian. He then asked me to clarify my gender. FML

It's weird that upon first meeting you he'd inquire about your relationship with your friend anyway.

Taken aback you should have asked him when last he got his eyes checked out ;)

You must've changed classes or lived through it. Oh, and sorry for my first comment

I don't know if anyone can get good advice for this(I hated my first comment(now deleted(because it was pretty mean)))

Hey, I've had that happen before. It really sucks. Hope it didn't hit you too hard OP

I don't understand this FML. So FML. -_-

^ Story time! OP here is a girl, but the choir director assumed she was a man. So, for whatever reason, he asked her if her best friend was in fact her girlfriend. OP answered no, she was not a lesbian. The director, still not realizing OP is female, was confused, as he thought only females interested in other females are considered lesbians. Believing he must have misunderstood the term, he wished to clarify that he may be talking to a girl after all, and asked for clarity of her gender. I'm quite sure OP guided him to the correct conclusion and after some embarrassment, they got along swimmingly. :) I do hope this shed some light on the subject for you. :) Cheers!
